  1. Would it not be possible to not print any thing extra on the wing - as it will affect resale value, but still register it using the Wings Serial No, and engine serial number, along with the wing make \ model \ colour etc. If It this is only for the purpose of insurance, rather than watching for people doing things that they shouldnt, I dont see why this could not work. As you would only be using the insurance if you crash into something. In which case the serial on the wing should suffice. If it were this type of system I would use it. I already have BHPA insurance for my free flying. I sat the Pilot exam and was led to believe at the time that the Pilot rating was the same for both hill and power. That now turns out not to be the case. If you sit the Hill pilot exam it does not cover you for Power, but if you sit the Power exam it does cover you for both. This is a real pain as I would now need to resit the Power pilot exam to get appropriate insurance. There are very few places locally where it is easy to go and take a refresher course to get back into exam mode. Just my 2p worth.

    Hambrook

I went to the field last night as I had not heard back from Charlie and it is still not cut.

    Hambrook

I have sent a text to Charlie to find out, as soon as he replies I will let you know. I have also asked for a best guess when it might be if it has not been cut.
  4. I have had a reply by PM I was looking for. And I know it was not Simons group. Although I was not aware that was where Francis was flying from.
  5. Exactly what I was thinking, I had this when I did not open a vent valve on the fuel tank. It would just die on full throttle but it would slowly come to a halt on idle. Sort of stuttering but would pick up a bit if you accelerated and eventually die.
  6. It would make it 5 out of the 10 flyers. But you know Mark, if he could sell kit to the other 5 he would. But it is not going to happen we ALL just have to be really careful not to disturb the neighbours any more. Setup and fly away for those of us not under instruction.
  7. A lot of us fly form the area. From a few sites. And as said earlier Steve Haze is your man. He is based in pulborough and teaches in Guildford and Hambrook.
  8. Thanks for the information it is exactly what I was looking for. I think the issue was for the police, that by the time they got there to investigate every one had left or they did not know where we were taking off from. In the first instance I think they just wanted to speak to us, but my feeling is forewarned is forearmed, and if I can show them we are doing nothing wrong then it will make it easier to explain to those people near by. I think it is just that some people do not know what is right or wrong and just call the Police to make sure (In some cases for concern for you saftey) I am sure that the police could have found the information out, but I think they have better things to do with their time. As this particular policeman was very understanding, he explaind that they get really silly complaing about children playing football and laughing too much and having a good time (In the park, but too noisy for an old lady living near by)
  9. I went flying this evening at a new site, and as I was getting out of the car to set up a Police car pulled up, it was part of his routine beat and he was just checking we were not fly tipping. We got chatting as he was interested and wanted to watch us for a bit. Things were all going well and he was very friendly, he asked one of his coleagues over the radio if he wanted to come and watch as well, one thing led to another and it transpired that one of his other coleagues had had some complaints form Southbourne (a.k.a Hambrook, but they had been unable to track anyone down). So I gave him my details and he will contact me tomorow. He proceeded to watch me fly and was quite happy, we discussed various aspects of the law i.e. the 500ft rule so that he had a better understanding. What I need to know is can any one point me to the formal caa section of law so that when he calls tommorow he has all the information he need to go back to the complainant and explain that we are within the law and there is nothing he can do. He did not find it offensive and did not think it was a problem, it is just that they do not know the law and did not know were to start. All that said and done I will find out where the complaint came from and we will extend our avoid areas if possible as we doint want to annoy any one if possible. Thanks
  10. In my opinion the Speedster is slower at similar relative loading. I will give you the REAL number that I have flown at on both wings. Nucleon 34 (140 - 175) - All up weight including fuel (But not including the wing) All Up - 175 All up - 155 All up - 143 Speedster 30 (110 - 140) - All up weight including fuel (But not including the wing) All up - 138 As you can see I flown the Nucleon inside its weight range (Not over as you suggested) and I have flown it through the weight range all the way from the top to the bottom as I was losing weight. And I am at the top end of the Speedster at my current weight. And I stand by what I said in every configuration I have tried the Nucleon is slightly faster than the Speedster.
  11. I have recently changed form a nucleon 34 to a speedster 30 (Having lost weight so I am at the top end of both all up). I have not had a lot of experience of the speedster in rough air but this is my experience so far. In my opinion. 1. The speedster is easier to launch and land than the Nucleon. 2. The brake preasure is heavier on the speedster 3. The Nucleon is marginally more stable in roughish air. 4. The nucleon is faster 5. the trims on the Nucleon are easier to pull in 6. the speedster tip steering is more responsive 7. The carry bag on the nucleon is better as it has an integrated stuff sack. 8. The magnets on the speedster that holds the brake handles in place are rubbish 9. Glide ratio on the speedster seems a little better I like both wings, but if I was buying again I would choose the Speedster simply because of the launch properties. (It is so easy to reverse launch even in low wind)
  12. On considering a new motor what would you consider the minimum acceptable climb rate to be? Can you also please list what all up weight and motor you are flying now and what you current climb rate is. It would be very much appreciated.
  13. Pies, I must have been asleep. I missed that.
  14. What time are you going Mark?
  15. That is truly dreadful, and I hope he gets better soon. It is the best reminder I have EVER seen and will take much more care in future.
  16. That is my new word of the day. Now I need to find a sentence to use it in. I might just run a quick quizz at work, as I am sure none of my work mates have ever heard of it. nimbyism
  17. That is the best paramotoring video I have seen in a long time. I loved it.
  18. I would consider one. As it is the bit that takes the most time asembling the motor.
  19. Or you can make your own for approx £20. Here is what I did. Order one of these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400250220077#ht_2169wt_1345 and one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120709257236?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp5197.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D120709257236%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 The cycle meter comes from china and took about 3 weeks to arrive. I am sure you could get a similar one in the UK but I picked this one because it allowed a wheel circumference of 0 - 9999mm, lots of other only had fixed wheel sizes. The bike sensor produces a pulse every time the wheel rotates, so we just need to work out how many pulses are required per ml etc. So if we cut the reed switch from the end of the cycle meter and wire it through an opto isolator to the flow sensor the flow sensor generates a pulse for every 0.5 ml of fuel passed through. We need to calculate the equivalent wheel size to trick the cycle gauge into giving the correct reading. 0.5 ml Per Pulse 1000 ml per litre 1000 ml / 0.5ml = 2000 pulses per litre Desired Circumference (1 Kilometer / Pulses) = 1000000mm / 2000 = 500 mm Then all you do is enter a wheel circumference of 500mm and you should get the correct number of km traveled being the same as the number of liters being used. I did this mostly as an experiment but the results do work fairly well, I had to add a pull up resister in the wire some where but I would need to look out my diagram if anyone else is interested. 20. I am going, just not with you. So make of that what you will
  21. don't worry I will not be flying.... Only to film Michel... I will come and pick you up barry when you land out Barry "OH did i just Jinx you" If you are not flying, there wont be any need Fingers crossed .
