  1. Thanks very much, No it is not the Puxing radio. It is a tyt-800, all the Kenwood accessories work on it. It looks like the Puxing is the same so I will try the provided diagram and see how I get on. Thanks again. Barry
  2. Hi, I have just bought a Microavionics MP001 headset. I have cheap 2M radio that is wired the same as Kenwood radios. I stupidly thought that the connectors were standard on the radios and headset. Am I correct in thinking that I need to make an adaptor from the headset to the radio? If I plug the radio in as it is it goes into constant transmit mode. If so I can see above that there is talk of having a working solution, could you please post a wiring diagram so that I can make one. Or supply a link where I can buy one. Thanks Barry
  3. The EC Extreme ones are very good. They have Start / Kill Switch integrated. Cruise control and are quite slim to hold.
  4. Hi, Cracking video I have just played both back on a 150 inch projector as I find it shows up quality differences really quickly. IMHO. Both videos are good in terms of resolution and could not tell them apart. However the youtube video was much smoother at playback.
  5. I am a bit jelous really as it was longer than some of my first flights
  6. Hi Teresa, I will aiming to be there at 17:30 - 18:00. So will see you guys there. Hopefully it will be less windy than last night. Barry
  7. Hi Seymore, I have just sent you a pm. Mark I have spoken to Charlie and the field will be open at 10:00 tommorow.
  8. When I spoke to Seymore earlier I explained that I had asked for the gate to be open for 10:00. As that is when Terrisa and Kev had discussed with me. I am not sure if Charlie will have it opened before 10:00, as this is what was arranged with him. ( I know he somtimes opens it early ) Just a general reminder that as part of the agreement with the landowner it was agreed that we would give Charlie as much notice as possible ideally 24 hours. I am concerned that if the notice time we give to Charlie gets shorter and times change from agreed times, that it could become an inconvenience and we might loose the site. Sorry to be a "bah humbug"
  9. I have been thinking about this a little more. If the timing is out and it is to advanced, then you will be losing all the power from the power stroke and there may be insufficient pumping action in the crank to cause the pulse to the Carb. This MIGHT explain the lack of fuel from the carb as well. This is just a theory though. I have never seen it happen. And I am not sure how far out it would have to be to get no fuel at all.
  10. Well spoted Pete, Deliberate mistake, I was just testing. I will correct my post.
  11. Hi, I would be up for something late afternoon \ early evening. Weather permitting. If we are considering this let me know so tht I can arrange with charlie.
  12. So sorry guys got this wrong (the shame), I replied to this late last night hence my error. To confirm super hard compression near to the point it impossible to pull start with spark plug in and exhaust off (Same with exhaust on) When I remove spark plug its easy to pull start again. I dont think its a timing issue but I could be wrong. To date I have removed cylinder head cleaned piston and the cylinder, new gasket which was meant to help with compression from HE paramotors and has not helped at all, new o ring. I have also taken the carburetor off and cleaned it. I know it got to something simple as you guys said I need another set of eyes to assist, I will put the feeders out to the Australian Paramotoring community today and see if I can find any one who can assist . I am sure I am not the only one to have even have this issue on there machine. Its driving me crazy as I can see no fault anywhere.. Once again SORRY for the above statement. Dara Based on this comment "To confirm super hard compression near to the point it impossible to pull start with spark plug in and exhaust off (Same with exhaust on) " we can rule out any thing to do with the exhaust in any capacity. Based on this comment "When I remove spark plug its easy to pull start again" We can tell that there is no physical issue. i.e that the piston is too tight for the bore etc. (With the exception of the piston hitting the plug) So to check if the problem is with the ignition timing. You need to do one of the tests mentioned earlier. 1. Check that with the spark plug in but with the HT Lead disconnected does it turn over normally? If the answer to this is yes it turns over normally and you then connect the HT lead and the compression increases then the problem is the ignition timing. If this is the case I will explain what is happening. IMHO Without the HT lead connected and you turn it over you will be getting the compression of the piston and the fuel in the chamber but with no spark so all the fuel mixture is sent down the exhaust. With the HT lead connected (Assuming that the timing is too advanced ) As you begin the compression stroke you will draw in fuel and air wich will continue to compress as it approaches Top Dead Centre but the spark will be fired too early (i.e. Before it is at the top) and will effectivly be trying to push the piston back down the cylinder (hence the feeling of increased compression). The compression has not changed, just that it is firing too early. The timing only needs to be slightly out for it to make a big difference. I hope this helps and is clear enough to understand.
  13. I am slightly lost: In the original post it was the case that you could not pull start it because the compression was too high. But it would turn over ok with the plug removed. In the last post I am unclear. I thought that what had been asked was to test 2 things. i.e. 1. With the exhaust on and everything connected normally - disconned the spark plug lead. Does it turn over normally now? 2. With the spark plug in and the exhaust disconnected does it turn over now. As for the fuel getting in, if it is a pump type carb, it is quite possible that if it is not turning over properly that the pulse is not being sent from the crank case to the carb. Can I just check that you have tested the above, as I was a little unsure with your reply. Might just be me though On rereading the thread, the original problem was the compression. (Is that now ok) and the problem you are having is getting it to start. Or is it still the case that the compression is very high.
  14. Based on what you have said I would be surprised if it was a carb issue. I cannot think how a carb problem would increase the compression, unless it is filling the chamber with fuel. My gut feel is it is more likely to be blocked exhaust. But it does sound like a bit of a strange one. Is it possible to remove the silencer etc easily?
  15. What voltage is the battery? I might want one as it is shown, with a view to changing it later. I would just like to know so that I can work out the electrics as I am looking to make some changes to the current electrics, and I might include this as an option.
  16. Simon, how is this powered. i.e. batteries in the box on the top right. If so what voltage does it run at, i.e. Could it be hooked up to the 12v starter battery instead?
  17. Not exactly the same but have a look here. viewtopic.php?f=64&t=6395
  18. I am just wondering if there are any alternatives to a tiny tach. It would be nice if you get get something with a exhaust gas reader and or a cylinder head reader and tach combined. Any ideas? My last tiny tach has recently given up and I always found it a little on the big side. Thanks
  19. Not really sure, could you pm me the details.
  20. I might rename it as the Marmite Motor
  21. I have just got one, and I dont have an answer to your question. But here is my thoughts. Kobra list it as 110kg of thrust. ec Extreme list is as greater than 90kg of thrust (Taken directly from simonini web site) My understanding is that the Kobra prop is different and will give extra power. However I am dubious that it would be as much as 20kg more. I have split the difference and taken it as being a genuine 100kg of thrust. I bought this with a view to being able to do tandem trike with my wife at some point in future. The only other subjective test that I have been able to do is the following. I can stand all day long with a black devil \ moster engine at full throttle all day long on my back. (without really having to think about it) I can stand with a Simonini 200cc engine (the one used on the flat top) fairly easily on full throttle. But I do have to concentrate and think about it. With the Evo engine I can go to full throttle BUT I have to be carefull and really concentrate, and I have to be very progressive with the throttle . I would not want to try any engine with more throttle than this. I am contemplating buying a trike for my wife and I, that would be a combined weight of approx. 280 - 300 kg. And I am hopefull that with the right wing that this will do. But I would be interested in finding out exactly what the thrust really is. I am quite happy to put mine on a rig if someone has one.
