  1. Hi all, As most of you know I secured access to a site in the Nutbourne \ Hambrook area, I have personally had access to this site for more than a year. After discussions with the land owner I have managed to get access for visiting pilots on a more regular basis. However as this is a potentially sensative site it has been agreed with the land owner that some level of control is in place. For anyone wishing to fly there please contact either me (Barry Holleran on 07748986084) or (Mark Morgan on 07731599660) preferably the night before so that we can arrange for the gate to be opened. It may be possible on shorter notice but to avoid inconvienience please allow as much time as possible. Mark and I have drawn up some site no fly zones, which are attached to this post. If you do intend to fly there please familiarise your self with these areas BEFORE flying. For those less computer litterate the attached file is a zipped kmz (Google earth file) and you will need Google earth to view the file. The area's in Red are "No Fly Zones" The area's in Blue are "Only above 500ft agl" The area's in Yellow are "Only above 1000ft agl" And common sense to be applied everwhere else. 2. Hi all, I am currently running a 1.2m prop and I would like a bit more power. I am looking at getting a simonini based motor in future but I think this might be a short term improvment. I have seen that Baily have a 1.1 or a 1.3 m prop on the blackdevil and it produces 5 - 10 kg of thrusk for the 1.3 m version. I assume that I would need to swap the reduction drive to run the 1.3 m. Can any one tell me a bit more about it. I.e. is it just because it is a carbon fibre prop it is lighter so it can be biggeretc. Does any other manafucturer use a 1.3 m prop on the black devil? Thanks Barry
  3. Ok, I found it, but that assumes you are logged in. I still think it would be useful.
  4. Ok I give up. Enlighten me. Where is the view new post link.
  5. Is it possible for a moderator to add a West Sussex branch please. Morgy and \ or I are quite happy to be a moderator of that branch if it is required. Thanks.
  6. I think this would be great, as it means you can just look at the most recently accessed forum.
  7. Hi, I think there is a school near Guildfor but I am not sure of the details. I amsure someone else will come along and correct me or provide the details.
  8. Hi Luke, I only got your message this morning, so sorry I did not get back to you yesterday. I dont think I am going to be able to do it today but possibly tommorow afternoon or definatly the weekend. I have now got a new toy to try out as well. Nucleon 34.
  9. Having done a bit more research I have come to a similar conclusion on some of the wings. BUT I have no real justification, just gut instinct. 1. Dudek Nucleon 34 - weight range 140 - 175 2. Dudek Nucleon Cabrio 42 - weight range - 170 - 310 3. Dudek Synthesis 34 - weight range 135 - 165 4. Dudek Synthesis Cabrio 42 weight range 150 - 270 5. Dudec Orca 41 weight range 140 - 210 - Dismissed for Speed Reasons - No Reflex 6. Paramania Revo2 29 weight range 90 - 220 - I am not convinced that it can really be that wide a range. Or the run on take off would be long. 7. Paramania Action GT 28 weight range 85 - 175 - I am not convinced that it can really be that wide a range. Or the run on take off would be long. 8. Paramania Taxi weight range 160 - 350 The above list is based on my thoughts unless any one wanted to contradict me. And If I removed the tandems, it only leaves me with the Nucleon and Synthesis. If I remove the Synthesis on performance reasons it does only leave the Nucleon. My concern with the nucleon is that I would be quite near the top end of the weight range, and I am still tempted to keep the Nucleon Cabrio in the running as I would imagine that it would be the best compromise of the tandems. I know that paraglider wings can be used for paramotoring. And that if the weight range was 120 - 140 kilos it is normally assumed that you could go over by 25 % when motoring so 175 when motoring. Now the question is are paramotor wings different to that. i.e. Is the Nucleon Basically a paraglider wing that would normally have a max rating of 140, but because it is going to be used for paramotoring they say that it is 140 * 25% = 175. Or are thy designed with the weight range of 140 - 175 in the first place. The reason for asking is that if you compare the Bolero iii xl against the Nucleon 34, they both have more or less identical surface area and projected area. So whilst I appreciate the design of the wing will affect performance etc and the reflex will affect the speed and stability. I am not convinced that i would feel any lighter on the nucleon that the bolero. i.e. Basically it is the same size of wing. Any thoughts on my ramblings. Thanks
  10. Until fairly recently I used to fly an Airwave Sport L (95 - 120) Paraglider, but I have clearly out grown this wing. And despite my best efforts loosing the weight is just not happening. I had no money at the time so I bought a nearly new Gin Bolero iii XL (115 - 140), this is really nice wing but is slow in comparison to the sport and the handling is no where near as responsive as the sport. When under power I find that I have to apply a lot of brake pressure on the Bolero as I susspect it is quite heavily loaded. This is the wing I am currently using for paramotoring, but the guys I am starting to fly with (Seymore, Morgy, Luke) all have reflex wings and I am affecting the decisions about where and how to fly because I cannnot keep up or dont have the range etc. When flying on my own my current wing is fine. i.e. bumbling along. But I would really like to get something that is fast enough to keep up with the other guys as well as being a bit more in the correct weight range rather that overloading a paraglider wing. Thanks
  11. Hi all, I am looking for some collective wisdom here. Me: 125 clothes, helmet, flight panel 5 motor 30 fuel 10 wing 8 I am not carrying a reserve but I would like to: so another 5 So total weight will vary from 168 to 183 I guess allowing for the fuel to be used and if I have a reserve attached etc. Out of the following which would you go for. 1. Dudek Nucleon 34 - weight range 140 - 175 2. Dudek Nucleon Cabrio 42 - weight range - 170 - 310 3. Dudek Synthesis 34 - weight range 135 - 165 4. Dudek Synthesis Cabrio 42 weight range 150 - 270 5. Dudec Orca 41 weight range 140 - 210 6. Paramania Revo2 29 weight range 90 - 220 7. Paramania Action GT 28 weight range 85 - 175 8. Paramania Taxi weight range 160 - 350 There are probably loads others but these are the ones I could find that meet my current weight. I am open to any other suggestions. I have about 100 hours on paragliders and about 10 hours on a paramotor. Please help, as I am totaly confused. If possible I would like to use the same wing as a paraglider wing (Not essential just a nice to have) Thanks
  12. I would be up for this in the afternoon if I can sort out work. Do you know when and where you are going to be flying from? Thanks Barry
  13. Thanks very much for the very full reply. I was aware of some of that information but not all of it. In my particular case I already have and use Midland G7 PMR Radios and these work great. But in particular I recently wanted to fly with a new group of pilots who use the ranges you have listed above (2M). I now have both and will choose accordingly. Thanks again.
  14. Thanks all to those who replied. After a few emails back and forth with the manufacturer. IT is possible to unlock this radio. I will list how to do it here should anyone else get one of these. At Less than £50 it can be bad. Press and Hold the "Monitor" key and the "Up" key at the same time. Then turn the radio on. It will be in "Self" Program mode. Then enter 8282, it will show the current frequency band. It will be 14414 on a locked radio. Enter 136174 to get the full range i.e. 136.00 to 174.00 Then turn the radio off and back on and it should be fully unlocked
  15. Thanks, are you saying that an average PPGer might use the 430 to 440 range? And that is what I need? At this stage I can probably return the radio to where I bought it from for either a swap or possible a refund. So I dont want to muck about with it if it is the wrong thing. Can you recommend a cheap radio that would be in the correct range or that can definetly be put in the correct range. Via jumbers \ Soldering etc with a guide available somewhere. Regards Barry
  16. I have posted this in the radio section but I thought I would ask in a wider audience as I am not sure how radio specic the question really is. I have just bought a tyt-800 (specs here http://sophiarose.en.hisupplier.com/pro ... nnels.html) The frequency's I can get are between 144.00 and 146.00. The specs state the following should be possible. 136-174mHz /245-246/350-390/400-470/465-520MHz Ignoring any legalities of using a 2M radio in the air or otherwise what frequencies would be used. An in particular is it in the range I can transmit on. Or have I screwed up and got the wrong radio. Any suggestions. Thanks
  17. I'm stuck. I have just bought a tyt-800 (specs here http://sophiarose.en.hisupplier.com/pro ... nnels.html) The frequency's I can get are between 144.00 and 146.00. I am trying to get 143.950 etc and I cannot seem to get it to any of the other ranges listed in the specs. 136-174mHz /245-246/350-390/400-470/465-520MHz Any ideas? Or have I just bought the wrong thing. What frequency would you use?
  18. I had a similar issue on the Walbro 32. even though the 32 had a hig end et the problem was that even if you closed it completly it was still running too rich. It turned out the the the pop off presure was wrong and was allowing way too much fuel in. Adjusted the spring and it was a lot better, I am not sure if you have a pop off spring on that carb but I would get it checked.
  19. Hi, I like the idea, and the site looks really slick. As Expected I do have some questions \ Comments. 1. If you owned your own equipment once it is set up \ hang tested etc you just get the kit out and fly. Due to the many different people flying the kit will there be permenant hang test equipment available? 2. Is there any option to have the setup time outside the allocated flying time? 3. Is it possible to take insurance out on the items that are not already covered. i.e. The wing? 4. Has there bee any thought given to allowing some of the equipment to be stored in other area's. At the moment it is going to be more favourable to those people living near Membury. I understand they could still use it if you are further away but you are eating into you allocation due to traveling? 5. Have you considered shorter lengths of membership. I was thinging of the following situstions. You have just qualified and want to try out different bits of kit before buying your own. Well done with it and I hope it all works out.
  20. Thank you, I have just tried this and it looks perfect.
  21. Hi, I am in the same situation, just got an iphone 4. Is there an app that has current airapace with a gps feature? Not as a replacment to an air map, just to supliment it. Thanks
  22. I would recomend these guys for a new carb. They were 80 pounds cheaper than elswhere and they had excellent customer service. Although they do sell out quickly. http://www.rowenacarbs.co.uk/
  23. Can anyone post a picture of it so that we can all be jealous?
