  1. Hi, I read somewhere that the redhead engine parts were interchangable with the Black Devil \ M21Y Engine. I noticed this picture on an Ebay auction. Does any one have any ided what kind of difference it would make to the noise level from the engine?
  2. Thanks very much for all the replies. I have made a kick in strap similar to the following. I have posted it here as I think there are some improvments on mine. I found this in my local climbing store for about 8 pounds when I was looking for the webing in the article provided. It is basically an shock cord inside the webbing but at on end there is a plastic clip with a webbing adjustment. I thought that this would allow some adjustment after it was fitted.
  3. Hi, I had my first flight on my home built motor on Saturday at membury. (Yipee) But it did not get into the seat, To be fair I did not try letting go of the brakes and having a good wiggle. But I had a thought. Do you think it would be possible to attach a loop to the front of the harness, basically the same as a speed bar attachment but only attached to the harness. and then use this go push the seat out from under you. this way you would not need to let go of the breaks. In particular my concern would be the loop going back to far and getting caught in the prop! Thoughts?
  4. Thanks, could you please pm me the necessary contact details.
  5. Hi, I am thinking about joining you guys. Can someone plese post the adress of Membury and any details about getting there that might help. Also what time are you looking to mee up at? Thanks Barry
  6. Hi All, Glad to see it is back, I appreciate it must have been a sod to get it sorted. I have a couple of questions. 1. What happened? ( A bit of detail ) 2. How were \ are our passwords stored on this site. i.e. were they encrypted or plain text. Basically could the people who hacked the site now have a list of password of the members. I have changed mine elswhere just in case. But I would still like to know as there was a period between noticing that the site went down and changing the password. Thanks Barry
  7. I cant comment on the specific kit you have, but I am 120lg and on my old wing and motor itwoul take me about 15 steps toget of in a 5 mph wind, so i would guess that is quite normal. But in general you just need to match the wing and motor and weight with the right combination. Good luck.
  8. Mark, I just replaced my quater mil from goodwood airfield, they wre very helpful. I am sure if you asked to see one they would have no objections. Worth a try at least
  9. Thanks very much, I spoke to them and they are very helpful, but they dont have any WB37-c in stock they should get them in about 2 - 3 weeks. But they do have the WB32 in stock. Decisions, decisions, decisions. I think the general concensious of opinion is that he 37 would be a better all round choice. But I dont really know technically why.
  10. Thanks very much, easy when you know how
  11. What was the answer to the question as I could not see the answer in any other forum. Just curious.
  12. At the fly in we spent a lot of time trying to get my carb running correctly, and the result was a massive improvment. However it was mentioned that a new carb might only cost £50, I have looked and cannot find any one selling them. I just feel that for peace of mind it might be worh doing. Where is the best \ cheepest place to get them. Also is it posssible to fit a WB37 as I think it was said that was what was installed on the black devil. The engine I currently have is the corsair M21Y. If it is possible is it just a straight swap over or is ther any mods that need to be made. Thanks.
  13. Thank you so much for an enjoyable day. And a big thanks to all the people who looked over my motor, and all that advice that was offered. In particual a big thanks to Colin for the help with the carb, and Rigger for the use of the hang test rig. (Hope I did not bend it too much) I would have loved to stay till tommorow and got some flying in, but previous commitment made it impossible. I hope the weather improves for you all and have a great day tommorow. I look forward to the next one. Barry
  14. Just pipped me at 154 miles, from Bognor
  15. Hi Sorry if I am being dim here, but I need to check. I thought that the fly in was at membury airfileld or in the general vicinity between Newbury and Swindon. But I have just checked the postcode listed here and it is showing as near monmouth wich is a further 75 miles west of Lamborn. Is the post code address correct, and have I just misunderstood \ assumed where it would be. It might just make the difference. Thanks
  16. Was this a serious attempt to build one or was this done as a joke?
  17. I thought I had this sussed I ordered one of the valves that was recomended and it des not work exactly as expected. The vent is indeed a one way valve. i.e if you suck through it,it allows air in and if you try to blow through it the valve closes and stops any air getting out. When the engine is running all is ok. But the problem is that although it stops air going back it does not stop fuel going back. So if you lay the motor down in the car it leaks fuel everywhere. Any other suggestions? What I really want is a valve that allows air in but not let fuel out. Argggghhhh.
  18. There is no maybe option on the poll.
  19. Hi ScottishMotorMan, I am a Falkirk man (Parents live at the top of maddiston), I am living in Bognor Regis in the south of england these days. But vist the parents fairly often. As you know Linlithgow is only 10 min's away. Can you provide me with the details of your launch sites etc and I will bring my kit with me next time. I would love to meet up and go flying some time. If I take the caravan up when I am visiting we would normally stay in Beecraig Country Park. Also where did you get the air maps from as the map I have does not cover the central region area? Thanks Barry
  20. Hi Seymore, We met at your last flyin, but I was waiting on a new frame. In the end I decided to build my own. I have now finished it and I am looking for someone else to cast a careful eye over it before it is flown. Do you have someplace that I could do a hang test from and would you (or anyone else) be willing to check the new machine over. If you are feeling very brave you could even do the test flight for me What is you oppinion of the weather tommorow. Also will it be ok to come up to the farm even if I cant stay for the party. Thanks Barry
  21. Ok, so most people would opt for the sup air. Now I have googled and can find no more detail on it than in the original link. Does any one have a link to the manual \ dimensions \ size recomendations for small , medium, large etc. Or at the very least pictures that show a bit more than the back of the harness that can be seen on the sup air site. Without this poll I would have went for the apco one simply because they have a3d model that you can rotate and have a look at. I like the look of the padding o the back but I am not convinced it will fit. Also is there any where that does sale or return etc on harnesses (Sup Air in particular)? Because from what I can see very few places have them in stock to allow a hang test etc. (Sussex Area) Thanks Barry
  22. It is the same guage and strength as the part of the fresh breeze parts that I had before.\ It is much stronger than the old frame I had with very little distortion even at the outer unsupported edges. I did not lik the carbon fibre idea that the mini plane used, but I did like the way it packed away. I think I will wait till that happens if you dont mind No need to try it just yet, but I am comfortable that it would be no worse than the fresh breeze. I have had my fair share of falls and broken props already so I am hoping that I have done all the major damage. I dont think so as I annealed them before bending them and then rehardned them once I got them to the shape I wanted, so it should not deform on the bends any more than anywhere else. Time will tell I am open to suggestion on this one. I did contemplate drilling holes along the inside edge of the hoop and then cable tying the net to it but I am not sure that this will not just make the hoop weaker The main chassis legs and cross members were not welded as I would like to be able to eaily replace them if it gets damaged. They are bolted together uing M8 high tensiile bolts so I think that there should be more than enough strength there. I do need to add a few more bolts to the cross members as they are only a friction fit at the moment. The frame dismantles in a similar way to the miniplane etc, but it uses spring buttons to hold the support arms on. (the kind you use in tents, ) Thanks for the comments
  23. Here are some pictures of my progress so far for those who may be interested. I eventually managed to get enough tension on the netting using a thing bought from a chandlery. It is a threaded bar that tightens from each end. Do you think that the risers will snag the way I have fitted the netting? Things still to do: Paint the chassis Paint the remainder of the hoops and support bars Fit a plate for the electrics make and fit the swing arms buy and fit a harness Then go fly
  24. I am looking into getting a low hangpoint harness. I have found the following, is there any I have missed or any that you would particulary recommend? 1. Apco Universal Paramotor Harness http://www.apcoaviation.com/products.as ... r#pprotect 2. AVA Sport http://www.avasportcentral.com/eng/pr_paramotor.html 3. Sup Air Paramotor Std http://www.supair.com/en/produit.php?id ... d=sellette 4. Paramotor Harness Hi-Fly http://paraglidershop.co.uk/paramotorpa ... nesses.htm 5. Paramotor Pirates (Not listed on the shop but a picture here) http://paramotorpiratesbeta.moonfruit.c ... 4540797384 I am a short (5' 8") fat bloke (120kg) if it helps, So I guess I need something with a big seat and a long waist strap. (writting this has just spurred on the diet and a lot more paramotoring to loose the excess ) The old harness was a real stuggle to get into and ended up dangling quite a few times, it came with the old frame and it is not branded so I have no idea what it was. Many Thanks
