  1. Ok, the two weeks are up and the following have confirmed. 1. Barry Holleran - confirmed. 2. Mark Morgan - confirmed. 3. Seymore - confirmed. 4. Luke Banks - confirmed. 5. Steve Haze - confirmed. 6. Michel Carnet - confirmed. 7. Kev Pickering - confirmed. 8. Teresa - confirmed. From the reserve list. 9. enzo200500 - confirmed. 10. M Banks - confirmed. There may be a few more spaces available, we it all depends on the number of pilots on site at any one time. Now that the list is confirmed, can all those with there names down make a point of getting the money to me via paypal on barry@holleran.info. I would prefer it via paypal as I am not sure when I will next be flying due to my operation. At a push if you need to I am sure Mark could also collect in the field. Thanks Barry
  2. I can't be specific, as I don't know the area. But I would try your local light aircraft airport. So somewhere like Shoreham or Goodwood if you were in Sussex.
  3. I would love to see the stats on this. 1. size of each glider 2. take off weight of each glider 3. trim position of each glider 4. speed bar position of each gliger etc. As these could all make a big diference to the outcome, I think it is really misleading without this information. I have no idea which is fastest in the real world but you NEED all the facts for it to be objective.
  4. On a scale of 1 - 10 (highest) how would you rate the quality of the music through your bluetooth adaptor and headset speaker? I know it's very subjective, but compared to an average pair of headphones hard connected to your iphone Cheers Dan About a 7 compared to my Bose set.
  5. If it makes you feel any beter I did not get my DVD either
  6. Access to the Field - Check Canteen Facilities - Raid My Lunch Box Toilets - Behind the Tractor Shower - Arrive when it is raining I am sure it will improve Grass Mown - Ask the sheep to work a bit harder Weeded Once a Week - Dont know about this one, but if you find someone ask them to do my garden while there at it. There should be some perks for me Bar - See Canteen Facilities Assemble Gear and Pickup - Teresa - Can we all use that facility? Onsite shop - See Mark But now that you have pointed out all the wonderful facilities I am wondering if we are over charging. Get the money to me either by paypal or ext time you see me in the field.
  7. Mark, Do you know if Michel uses the forum? As I think in the intrest of fairness I would prefer the individuals to contact me, through the forum as this is where any arangments are normally made. As I know that there are others that would also like to be added to the reserve list but again I think that it is only fair that they respond in person, rather than just taking my word for it.
  8. As part of the agreement with the landowner of the Hambrook site it was agreed that there would be a yearly charge. This fee was not collected last year until he could assess how often it was going to be used. We have now had a years use of the site for free but the landowner would now like to be paid for the privilage. So it has now become necessary to charge a yearly membership fee, running from 1st Janurary 2012 to 31st December 2012. Membership will be limited in the first instance to 10 pilots at a cost of £50 per person, with visiting pilots paying £5 per day. I have been provided a list of pilots who have expressed an interest in becoming members. 1. Barry Holleran - confirmed. 2. Mark Morgan - confirmed. 3. Seymore - confirmed. 4. Luke Banks - confirmed. 5. Steve Haze - confirmed. 6. Michel Carnet - confirmed. 7. Tom Clowes 8. Ben Clowes 9. Kev Pickering - confirmed. 10. Teresa - confirmed. I will arrange to pay the landowner the money in the short term but I need confirmation from the above named people in the next 14 days that they want to become members and agree to pay the fee. After that time if there are any spaces left it will be on a first come first served basis. The access to the field will be on the same procedure as before. If you are interested in a space please reply to this post, and I will use this as the official order.
  9. Thanks Pete, Kind of the areas I was going to look at as it is a brand new starter motor, so I suspect it must be further back.
  10. Looking for some opinions. On an inverted engine, On a good fully charged battery with the spark plug removed the engine turns over quickly and correctly. But as soon as I replace the spark plug it really struggles to turn over, with or without the spark plug lead connected? Any thoughts?
  11. Oil mix is always precise with syringe, and to manufacturers spec. Plug is also correct spec and no sooty deposits or other signs that it is running too cold if removed after flight (and no problems running after warm-up, or flooding when starting). Agree that it is just oil, after the petrol has evaporated - but it seems an excessive amount to drain down from crank case into combustion head. Fuel mix isn't leaking in from carb, and it only causes problems if the engine isn't run for more than 2 days (which means it needs draining and the plug cleaning before most flights at this time of year ....) I guess it's spanner time for a detailed inspection ..... Hi Aquatix, I was having similar issues with mine so I fitted a try break in the fuel line just before the carb so that no excess fuel is there. And also running it dry after disconnecting the dry break. Barry When you've finished flying for the day can you run the carb dry? it maybe when you put your motor in a warmer environment the pressure change in the tank is forcing fuel through the carb in to the engine. What ratio are you running at 30-1? I run mine at 50-1 with fully synthetic and no problems.
  12. Does any one have a list of events \ competitions for the year 2012? A one stop shop of potential trips to decide from. Thanks
  13. A big thanks to all who contributed. You know who you are (If I have missed any I appologise) Barry Morgy Luke Seymore Steve Darren Ben Richard Kevin Teresa Peter The total amount raised was £230 which was split between giving Charley some cash and Paul and His wife(The land owners) a lovely Hamper. Looking forward to a good years flying.
  14. unless your flying a speedster It is funny how things change Plus i would not say the finish of the EC is any where near the same quality as a bailey After looking at the welding on barry's. But i am biased 100% and always have been.. Even more so now as we are now selling Bailey's... You will have to show me what you are on about with the welding, as I did not see any thing wrong with it! Have you been keeping secrets again ?
  15. Funny how things change, I REALLY wanted a 4 stroke Baily when I was looking for a new motor, but after speaking to Paul at Bailey I was told that the V5 would only be good for pilots up to 100kg, and anything above that wold seriously affect fuel consumtion and performance. i.e much longer runs on take off.

    ppg crash

I think you meant this one. [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]
  17. Yes i know about all the draw backs of flying a tandem wing solo!! I was just stating that the bailey would not get him off the ground with out one..... Now i think the V5 and a 33 speedster will be fine.... Barry your going to have to have a go of Seymore's 30m speedster when he gets it!!!! As seymore flew a 26 with no trouble at all on a V5 and he is just over 100kg's... I will turn you to the four stroke dark side Barry..... I have always been on the dark side, it is the heavy side that causes me the problem.
  18. I weigh between 125 - 130 kg but I am only 5' 8", and the problem for me was not the wing or engine. (I used to fly a Gin Bolero and M21Y Corsair engine) This combination was fine. For the me the issue was my shape, I could not get into any of the harnesses that were around at the time. Generally because the waist strap was not long enough or the seat plate was not wide enough. Either at all or with a log of wiggling, to the stage that I build my own and it worked fine. (Partly becuase of finincial limitations at the time) I have since tried some of the new units i.e. the parajet harness and I can now get in with ease. My first choice at the time was the Baily 4 stroke (Any model - Because of the quietness, due to having a potentially noise sensitive site.) but after speaking to them they did not believe that the V5 or any other model would provide sufficient thrust for me, which narroid my choices to the list above. UKPPG at the time had a EC 26 (Moster model) available, and although I could not quite get into it. It was close enough that with a few tweeks I could see how it would work for me. Once it was delivered I was delighted with the harness configuration, as it litterly scooped me off the ground with no wiggling required. I now fly a Nucleon 34 and even at full trim I can fly level at approx 5500 rpm, wich should be good for a fuel ratio of about 3.5 ltrs per hous if Simonin's figures are to be believed. Less pies is the order of the day. I know what I am before anyone starts.
  19. Hi Gary. Survey finishes tomorrow. I'll publish the results as soon as I can. This is very much a version 1. It won't answer everything I'm sure but I'm happy to take suggestions for questions for next year. Cheers Al I did fill in the survey, but I am going to redo it.
  20. I have been contacted by Nigel at UKPPG, who had been told about my original post. After lengthy discussion and genuine interest in getting the issues I am having sorted. I have decided to remove my original post and give both EC Extreme and Nigel an opertunity to correct the situation. I am hopeful that everything will be resolved in a timley maner. I will update you all good or bad in due course.
  21. Mark, Simon is looking into how to do this as there used to be an option to make it a sticky but it does not seem to be there any more. As soon as we can work out how to do it i will. Barry
  22. Simonini Evo, should be more than enough. Aquatix and I fly it solo, but Pete has it set up as a tandem trike and should be able to comment.
