  1. Search youtube for how to do ppg "wingovers".....which my book tells me is the starting point. Personally, I quite like my wing to stay above me.
  2. I have an RC trike about the same size. It's a real swine to fly. Usually needs 2 people to run along holding it in shape to get airborne!
  3. Same hill, 4 years earlier....., also 48 and also from Lytham? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-25228936

  5. No, I asked you about the rules you mentioned as I have not found any. I presume someone told you that you need insurance and a club? You called them "rules".
  6. I live in Andalusia 6 months of the year, near Estepona. Nearest 'club' is FlySpain who frequent Lake Bornos. I would be interested to know where you get your rules for Spain from. I have exchanged numerous emails with the writers of Spanish air-law and so far they have only produced legislation that EXCLUDES foot launched flying machines! ie NOT covered by the air-law. Local experience suggests that the police also don't know the rules. They will often ask 2 questions a) Have you got insurance and b) have you got the landowners permission. Neither of these seem to be in any rules (unless someone can find one). Since you cannot argue with police it is best to have insurance and permission, then there is no 'argument' or confiscation of kit until they find they are wrong! I had police waiting for me when I landed a while back. They just wanted to have a chat about paramotoring.
  7. Well, nearly 4 weeks since op. Just tried walking in the snow, which means no crutches (they slip)! I couldn't get up the hill from the front door. Steroid injections being done later today so hopefully ease off a little after that.
  8. Thank for the advice. Yes, Spain is amazing. I usually tell my wife when the weather might NOT be good, so she knows when I won't be flying.
  9. Guy, I fly in quite thermic conditions at times and have found that without stabilisation roll can become quite severe. All it takes with the Roadster wing is to hold both brakes at position 1 to 2 and it pretty much stops. Even just letting the weight of my arms hang on the brakes is enough.
  10. Rule of thumb for weight....15 hp for 70 kg and add 1 hp for every extra 5 kg.......so 100 kg needs 21 hp etc. Tandem wings take 250 kg ish, roughly.
  11. I also found them excellent when I switched from using an Airbox to using Runway HD on my phone. They gave me UK and Spain maps instead of using the Airbox.
  12. HI, friend of mine wants to fly to Malaga and take Nitro 200 with. He is having trouble sorting out how to do this. Have any of you done this before and if so what's the best way? Cheers, Andy ps. I have told him to register on here!
  13. Cheers guys. Hadn't thought about boots Steve, but will give them a go.
  14. I've had my foot fixed 17 days ago. I damaged it twice, once full dislocation and second time broke end of tib/fib (neither done flying!!!!). Sat here unable to use foot for 3 weeks, I am going stir crazy. I had bits of broken bone removed, micro-fracture of Talus and tibia joint to encourage healing of cartalidge with holes in it, removal of bone growth that was preventing ankle moving and a repair pin. Been doing loads of 'own' physio and my ankle does now move - a lot compared to before, but still less than a third of the range of my other foot. I can also walk on it when doc and physio not looking. I had this done 2 Nov with a view to being able to go back to flying early Jan. What's the experience of my fellow broken/dislocated foot guys? Am I being too keen?
  15. I have been coiling as my new Roadster as per my previous description for the past 18 months. It is always kept in the big bag and rarely packed flat in sausage bag (only when I travel and need more room in car!). Just got wing back from The Loft. No damaged plastic bits. I like your A line trick Steve
  16. Most elec start have a relay as the current drawn by the starter is too large for the switch. Sounds like relay sticking on. These are £4 in Halfords. If no relay (all current goes thru starter switch) then switch sticking on. Andy
  17. Then try this for super quick untangling. Lay riser out straight (ish). Pick up the main (front) A riser lines.....but start from the wing end. Now as you travel out from the wing, keep the A line running thru your right hand. If you encounter any other lines going over the top of the A, just scoop them up into your left hand. When you reach the riser, pull it under the lines in your left hand (cos they are the ones in the wrong place). All is now untangled.
  18. I don't daisy chain. Was taught to place riser tabs one into the other, then starting about half a meter along the lines, coil the lines in loops that are smaller than half a meter - so they can't get near the ends of the risers. When putting in bag the risers are always wrapped under a piece of wing, away from the rest of the coils. Never had a tangle yet.
  19. You needing a new bracket to hang your paramotor on?
  20. With Google Maps you can set it so that your wife or others can view your location continuously. Thus my wife always knows where I am...unless I leave the phone behind
  21. HI all, Not many of us up here in the wilds of the North! Maybe we can meet up and have our own mini fly-in some time? Just thought I'd start a thread to see if any of us are within flying distance! I'm in Yarm (near Middlesbrough) and have an amazing flying field neat Huton R|udby, outside the Durham Tees Valley airport ATZ. Cheers, Andy
  22. Sounds like it. Even with overcharge protection you are not safe. If one cell fails but stays closed circuit then the remaining cells get charged more. This is why only balance charging is ever recommended...and I can't see people attaching a balance charger onto their kit!
