  1. Nope Steve. Unless I wish to fly dangling, not in the seat....then the only way I can get in is to lift my weight up. Getting hold of the risers by wrapping hands around the complete riser, just where the brakes would park, is by the safest way to do it.......because the brakes remain in your hands and are not pulled by the action of lifting yourself up. Thus, there is no need to let go of the brakes either. If I took your advice then I would pass out at some point from hanging around!
  2. I can only get into my seat by griping round both risers and heaving my weight up, while yanking legs up repeatedly.
  3. I think they knew I was there and had deliberately come to have a look. Last week a helicopter was impounded here because of drug smuggling from Morocco. I'm guessing they are keeping a check on anything that shows up! After going past me the plane turned 90 degrees out to sea and climbed.
  4. Parafest gets 250 pilots and is just about sold out usually.
  5. I was flying at just after 9 am today near Estepona, Spain. I thought I would take a few photos so climbed to 273m (about 900 feet). I turned 180 degrees to face up the coast and I can see a C130 plane coming towards me. It was about 400m off the coast and I was about 100m out. He looked pretty much the same height, maybe just a few feet higher. Whilst the minimum is 1000 feet for commercial planes, this looked like Spanish military, that have no limits! We were close enough to wave! Just wish I had had my video on! The photo below was just after he went past to my right. By the time I turned round to see where he was going, it was just spec in the camera.
  6. My machine is rated at a little over 21 kw. Level flight (for me) is somewhere around 65% of that, so 13.6 kw. Current battery technology gives you around 30 minutes flight for 20 kg battery. So: 1. Flying with a battery. A 2 kw generator will provide only 15% of power needed. So during the time taken for the battery to run down will add enough back for another 4.5 minutes. A bigger battery would be a lot lighter than having the generator on board as well. 2. Without a battery. You need at bigger than a 14 kw generator and it will weigh lots more than just having the petrol engine/prop. The point is, hybrid vehicles are aimed at economy and not weight saving. They are very heavy.
  7. Thanks for that. Really cool. Especially as I have a Nitro!.

Finally got wind direction directly through the gorge and was able to fly it. Ignore the wind turbines, they are under maintenance. There was about 5 knot headwind through the rocks.
  9. All 3 motors I have flown with require a small amount of left brake to hold straight climb-out. That is 2 different Parajets and now a Nitro. They have zero torque steer at about cruise throttle. It is perfectly normal to climb out on full power with a little brake one side.
  10. Throttle rules for beginners: At take-off, full power, quickly, no messing around. Hold full power until climbed to decent height. Always holding full power at take-off also gets you used to holding the same/right amount of brake on the side needed to prevent torque steer. ie. to climb away straight it will always feel the same. All other times throttle is moved SLOWLY from one position to another. This applies to increasing OR decreasing power. Do it slowly. The wing will then avoid swinging due to throttle.
