    I am in Yarm, near Middlesbrough. While the fields are too wet I am flying off the beach at Redcar. There are no instructors up here that I know of.....there are very few PPGers. I went and trained in Spain for 10 days so got great weather, lots of flying and training all done and dusted.

    ps....it would be very difficult for a Council to stop you using Public land. The powers they have to restrict use say "The behaviour must be having a detrimental effect on the quality of life of those in the community, it must be persistent or continuing and it must be unreasonable". So don't ask and don't worry about it.

    I have never asked a council before ground handling in a park. It is no different to any other recreational use of the park!

    Only 25 mins away.....and I only went cos my local field is a lake for the foreseeable future!

    Beach where you can park next to it is good, but also attracts lots of dogs (and their walkers).

    Hi, we are in-between fronts...one passed thru Monday, the next due this evening. We often get a gap of 6 to 10 hours when the wind is under 5 knots. The wind switches thru 180 degrees over an hour. This was the exact time I decided to fly today! It was a little bumpy but not as bad as the cold, very damp air (did I mention cold?) that was 8 degrees (apparently!).

    The prices don't look that bad. Minimum tax and reduced mark-up possible with low cost labour and low overheads!

    I'm planning to do Redcar beach tomorrow morning. Light winds...along the beach, so perfect.

    In the 80's I was hiking over Snowdon and one flew past me. It turned out to be Bear Grylls in his early testing phase!!!!

    I'm 92 kg. The Solo max power is 20 hp. I learned and fly with 27 hp. I wouldn't go lower. You could fly with that, but it'd be sooo much harder.

    Just been out with mine. All straps used in a loop with themselves, going under the support deck. Straps are all screwed in place to make fitting them easier.

    I use standard ratchet straps.....but they pass in a loop under the platform the paramotor is sat on. Hence only nylon part touches the machine. This also eliminates the need for anything on the platform to attach the straps to.

    Thank you. I've ordered all the big bits. Struggling to find U bolts of the correct sizes to suit 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" OD tubing though! I'll post pics as I build it.
