  1. I use a 2m radio with a Microavionics headset. I messed with the rest before I bought the best - Microavionics!
  2. Must be a new thing as I've not got them.
  3. Very nice. Is that a different sized fuel tank? Just noticing the red spacers on either side of the spars. What are they for?
  4. Thanks Guys, general consensus is that they need to go through both, especially the rear ones for the reasons mentioned above. Cheers Just need to test now!
  5. Shouldn't you have the cage and prop on too? It gives a more accurate angle as the weight is more correct. Personally, I have given up on hang tests as my Zenith hangs completely different in flight compared to static hanging. I have no idea why though!
  6. Yip, I know, probably should have done it by now but never really needed the extra speed. After getting my first taste of XCODE at the weekend, I'd like to have the ability to get a bit more. So, I have a pulley at the front (near thigh) and at the back (near my bum). As my risers sit nearly straight up from the front pulleys, do I need to go via the back ones or are they for high hang points? Any hints on setting up much appreciated. Ta
  7. Mine works great but the battery life is much poorer that the GP2. I bought a battery back for mine. Also, if you want hassle free excellent footage, make sure Protune is OFF. With it on it is like taking photos in RAW, you need to do a tonne of work afterwards to improve it.
  8. ha, excellent service from PMC. I think 37 is more accurate! I got a cracking 1 hour flight up the river Tay this afternoon to celebrate.
  9. My mate got some from Pirtek . Plenty depots around, the guy said it would be fine for high temp and cut him a few inches. Didn't charge a penny!
  10. Hey Nigel, it's in the comments section of the video. Link in the first post of this thread. I have a reflex glider - I will die soon apparently.
  11. Sorry, I might have done some sh1t stirring will Dell on your comments. Man what an idiot. Anyway, fly safe.
  12. I used some big washers behind the engine mounts to change the prop distance from the cage a bit. That, and some elbow grease bending the frame out a bit!
  13. Interesting, but I believe 999 does all the same stuff. The reason for 112's existence is so that all EU member states have a universal emergency number. Plenty info on the web about this. Either number works in these ways described in the video but if you travel to Europe much I guess it is worth sticking with 112 as a matter of course so it is instinct. I hope none of us have to use either number!
  14. I cant think of any reason to land with my engine on. It just asks for trouble! Once set up for the landing I kill my engine at about 100ft usually. I read somewhere above that someone kills the engine as the flare but when I kill my engine the wing has a slight surge forward which at 100ft is fine but in the flare would use up valuable energy which can otherwise be used to soften my landing. I've learned this lesson before on a badly set up landing where I cut too late and landed fast on my arse! Each to their own I suppose, but I have never broken anything whilst landing. Taking off however ........
  15. I've never heard of "max extended weight", you need to speak to the local dealer of the wing you bought. Different manufactures use different terminology.
  16. I started by asking the odd farmer who was in their field. I have never been asked about insurance. I always show them what I do by showing a video on my phone or show them the motor if it is in the car. I always offer aerial photos and drop off some wine at Christmas. Just get out there an ask! Ps try to stick to a "take off and piss off" plan, cut out annoyance for the farmer and his neighbours. Don't go near anywhere with horses, no end of hassle!
  17. Brilliant, glad you got up. There seemed to be the odd lull in the wind up my way, but I was still hungover! Any vids?
  18. XC weather is consistently the best indicator for wind. BBC/ met office always vastly underestimate wind in my experience. Hope you get lucky!
  19. Hi, the biggest restriction we have is the weather I'm afraid. My mate has flown on the Isle of Seil just South of Oban. there are a few chunks of serious air space up the west coast so check the map. Seymore's vids on YouTube are excellent. Search for stuartasutherland on YouTube for mine. I hope you get the weather! Regards Stuart
  20. Hi, I live in Perth but have not yet flown the Trossachs. I'm working I'm afraid so have fun, I wish you luck with the weather because it has been shocking for weeks now! Most fields are waterlogged! Stu
  21. Hey Mate, for got to mention, when I had a leccy start, I had an on/off switch on the chasis but would still take the spark plug cap off in case! There are plenty LiPo chargers available online but I don't know the spec of your battery so I'm sure someone will be along shortly to help. Stu
  22. Just checked my Synthesis manual It says to incude the weight of the wing in calculations (mine is 8.2kg) Also obviously include everything else but NOT FUEL.
  23. I think I read that the weight of the wing should be included for the Synthesis - read the technical blurb for clarification. I have a 34 and weigh the same as you.
  24. I use an Icaro Fly helmet with the Peltor ear defenders thrown away and replaced with Micro Avionics PPG headset - great for music / radio and noise cancellation.
