  1. Just bought this bag for my nitro - interested to hear what you are all doing with fuel left in your tank? Are you syphoning it out or just blocking the fuel vent hose? Thanks
  2. Hi Hodders, How did you get on with JS? It looks on their website that they don't provide personal liability cover either?
  3. Have a look at Dog Tag Insurance - was a lot cheaper than SportsCoverDirect last time I got quotes
  4. knock on door, bottle of whisky in hand... bribery always works best!
  5. Hi guys, Done heaps of spirals on a paraglider before but havent tried one with a motor strapped to my back. I understand the extra 30 odd kg will give the wing a higher loading therefore less stable and a higher G spiral, but is there anything I need to watch out for? Do you turn the motor off before entering a spiral? cheers
  6. Thanks for the replies guys, we're sending emails back forth but I cant see I'm gonna get anywhere with this guy. He's now saying he said he last ran it 3/4 years ago and never said how old it was, so all its gonna come down to is his word against mine and sadly he already has my cash! Think I'll keep the motor and try selling the wing on Ebay to get back some of my money and chalk this up to experience of not trusting friends of friends!
  7. Hi Morgy, Thanks for your feedback - From what I can see the design saftey wise hasnt changed a huge amount from the original in 2003 to the current flat top models. The hang points have been modified slightly but this would be easy enough to update. There have been numerous other updates but none that I have seen that I think would effect safety. I know if has lied about the age then maybe he should not be trusted, but the paramotor is immaculate - no scratches or remote signs of use and also I've had a good look at the wing and there is not one marking on it so am 99% sure he has genuinely never flown it. If I cant return it or do decide to keep it anyway I will take it down to my local school to get checked out as advised - cheers Morgy
  8. So the story begins just before Christmas when I'm on a job and hear of a friend of work colleague who's got a paramotor & wing (Apco Fiesta II) for sale. I give the guy a call he gives me the low down: 3 - 4 years old, never been flown he's just done the hours runin in his garage and the wing is totally unused. Being a paraglider and not knowing anything about paramotoring I do a bit of research on the internet they seem like a pretty good paramotors even if you avoid anything written by superdell. I place a deposit cause I needed to sell my boat in NZ before I could really afford it and finally picked it up a couple of days ago. Yesterday I assembled it, replaced batteries etc and then on having a good look around noticed it was a 2003 model. Going from 3-4 years old to almost 10 is a pretty massive jump. I'm know totally undecided as what to do - say sod it and just get on with flying or before I use it try to return it and purchase something newer as I imagine quite a lot has changed in 10 years. So keen to hear peoples thoughts and how much they think its worth. Thanks
  9. Those noise busters seem to look pretty good, but i think i'm right on saying the peltors which a lot of PPG helmets have have a higher noise cancelation rating @ 35dB
  10. Yeah I've thought of going down this route - I'm glad to hear the music quality from them is good cause that was my main concern. I saw these on ebay for only $70 which seem to do the same job but I guess I must be missing something. Does anyone know if the are really so much inferior in quality or what justifies the £150 price difference? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Paramotor-Pow ... 43b6d40499
  11. So its time for me to sort myself out some proper headgear and would like to draw on your infinite pools of wisdom! Most important is obviously noise cancelation but music playing quality is right up there. At the moment I dont use a radio but could imagine this being useful in the future, if this is greatly gonna scarifies sound quality though I'd rather go without it. At the moment I'm tempted with the NAC-new 2000 Horus OPPIII helmet and headset of the parashop website http://parashop.co.uk/paramotorparaglidinghelmets.htm Is anyone currently using this headset and have any feedback about it? I'm really interested to know what the sound quality is like? I know quite a few of you are believers in the micro avionics setup but I cant bring myself around to the look of the white helmet. I've also seen posts on here where people have gone for the simple earcups and then added helmet speakers into and wondering if you think this is best. Does this produce much better sound quality than headsets with built in speakers already like the MP001? Cheers for any help or guidance you can lend me
  12. ah thanks for that I least I can sleep in peace 2nite!
  13. Can someone please explain to me if I'm missing something here which I servilely hope I am! On the auction part of this website a 2012 Dudek Nucleon wing just sold for £206 (Auction Id# 114) - it doesn't say there was a reserve or anything put against this item, so did it really sell for this amount? I think I'll just head out to the garden and start digging myself a hole now if I have quite literally just missed out on the biggest bargin on the century! Will someone please put me out my misery and say this didn't really happen
  14. Is there a way you can notify them of your flying or is it just a case of us avoiding them? I live just south of Aberystwyth and they have always used our house as a marker as it sticks out like a sore thumb being white and on top of a hill. Normally we get the Tornadoes or Hercules coming over ridiculously low, banking and heading of in a different direction. Used to love this as a kid but now I'm about to share the same airspace as them not quite so keen!
