  1. Here's one to start ........ http://youtu.be/14gVYbX2Aoc This is really bad. (Engine sounds awful as well) Don't know who he is though. Richard
  2. Yes, my friends thought it was me illegally low flying last year, hence the issue I raised on here. You don't need to worry because it wasn't you illegally low flying over Stourbridge last year, nor anyone else we know. To be fair, no one (Joe Public) has actually complained yet, but I suppose it's only a matter of time and they'll have the photo/video evidence. Non of us seasoned flyers need worry. Richard ps - I do legally low fly a fair amount, as do a number of comp pilots!
  3. Ouch, I was 5ft off the ground on Sunday at times, performing my hay bale slalom tricks...... must've scared a few field mice...... Might be the same bloke who was very low over Stourbridge last summer (Circa 100ft). That was a blue and white wing. I still have access to some video of that low flying (taken from the ground on an iPhone I think). I'll see if I can get it 'youtubed'. Richard
  4. I think that link is very misleading, the Nuc is a en C rated glider and is known as one of the most stable out there, but if you read that link it sounds like a death trap. It is not misleading. Collapse resistance is completely different to collapse recovery. Please be very careful with your statements. Beginners are reading this thread. Richard
  5. http://www.bhpa.co.uk/pdf/En926_summary.pdf Be sure you can operate your current glider to 100% of it's envelope with full confidence, otherwise you'll not enjoy the ENC class in thermic air. The Speedster does have only a few C's at some of the sizes/weights, so it might be a better move than other ENC gliders. Also check the answer to why you want an ENC. Richard
  6. http://www.bmaa.org/pwpcontrol.php?pwpID=2602 ".....they are the safest form of powered aviation in existence, owing to their low speed and light weight........" Richard
  7. Cracking Gromit. Looks like your weather is just a little different to ours at the moment in the UK! Richard
  8. Nearly as windy as it is in Japan ......... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-19776925 Richard
  9. Hi Dan, It was quite rough some of the days, with the westerly Atlantic sea breeze hitting the prevailing SE winds quite early at about midday. The convergence was violent at times and I had the wing below me a couple of times. Weightlessness was also experienced twice. Wing recovered impeccably though, (worth sticking to an EN class C !!!). Prior to this time, if you could head off over east of the twin peaks (Olvera), you got quite a good flight in. 98km on one day for our group. Ronda was tricky to get to, as a result. Landed after one flight 5 seconds before a dusty arrived! No rain for 5 months over there, may have had something to do with the conditions! Evening flights reminded me of soaring the Malverns. 42 degrees C in Seville..... Richard
  10. Denser air in the colder months makes for slightly easier take-offs for newbies! (less sweating also) Richard
  11. Great day in the air. Shame no one else turned up. Hope you all got some good air time elsewhere. Bob visited twice to have a look but went up Castlemoreton for a PG Fly. Just over 4 hours in the air across 5 flights. Richard
  12. I'm game for a fly on Saturday afternoon at Powick, if anyone else is going? Richard
  13. Looking good for this w/e. Light WSW winds. I fancy Powick some time then, now it's been cut. Richard
  14. Batlite will get an ENA rating. Richard
  15. I blinked and missed it. This wing from Ozone is expected to get a ENB rating, but still a bit 'draggy' at the moment to compete with a normal PG on glide etc. http://www.flyozone.com/paragliders/en/ ... te-3/info/ Richard
  16. Used one of these for 10 years. http://www.flycom.co.uk/flying_helmets.htm Great noise attenuation and comfy. Richard
  17. Carl, coming up to the 1,000 hr mark on my TTS oiled Konig radial engine and never had the heads off. Plug colour is a great visual, but if the max revs haven't changed over a 6 month period by more than 2% (allowing for the seasonal temperature/pressure changes), then leave well alone. Richard.
  18. Good stuff Jock, Will be down when back from Algo. 7 days flying in a row so far. Rough at times in the midday thermals, but good experience. Had some big collapses and a few fights with dust devils! Richard.
  19. You need help Jock. Richard PS - nice & sparkley though (the motor, not you)
  20. First wing I flew was an Airwave Magic .......... First new wing I bought was an Edel Saber. Slow but very floaty, always staying up in the weak stuff when others were on the deck. Richard
  21. Drives right past our PG site at Bache Hill! Richard
  22. Just make sure your kit is properly rated for spirals and your skills are up to date. We've had a few failures performing acro on reasonably modern kit recently. Acro and subsequent kit failure has taken flying friends from us, in the past. Please be careful. Richard
  23. Most recent ENC paraglider wings are fast:- http://www.gradient.cx/en/Aspen4/tech Why shouldn't they be? Richard
  24. Just local planning laws. Any activity performed on a site not orginally designated for that purpose can do so for 28 days in any year, without planning permission. Affects shooting clubs, zorbing activities, etc. Jock, I've just bought 2 new pairs of flying trousers!!!! Don't think they'll start any major fashion trend though..... Richard
  25. Always best to get your own field, as it helps with noise/nuscience/28 day rule/etc. I've now used my latest site for 28 days in the last 6 months and now had a 3rd complaint in the same period, so will be moving on soon. Show the farmer your rating and insurance, with pictures of what he's expected to see, make sure no one else is already flying from the site and offer £70 for 1/2 year's use. No issues. Richard
