  1. I didn't see him when I was there from 12pm to 7pm. Nick B, Alan C, Kev B, Flinty, Ian, Jay, were there. About 12 flyers. Richard
  2. Don't call Jock an oddity, he gets upset. No issues for the rest of us though, it might be accurate ...... lol. Looking forward to flying Powick again, great scenery. Nearly 8 hours flying over the last two days. Free flying Llangollen today, very good. Richard.
  3. The modern ENC PG wings have very light speed bar operation. I can operate the speed bar on the Ozone Delta with my hands by yanking on the lines just below the pulley. I often steer by this method if I don't have my feet in the speed bar. I also use this set-up http://shop.flybubble.co.uk/ronstan-win ... -lines-kit They make keeping the speed bar on with just the weight of a foot. I remember flying the old Action PPG wing against my old Aspen1 PG wing in the mid 2000's and could not maintain level flight on full revs with the Action at full speed, yet I only needed 80% of maximum revs with the Aspen1 at full bar. (The Action was 1 or 2 kph faster though, but a slightly smaller wing, yet uncertified). Richard
  4. I'm gathering information on here, which perhaps suggests that the majority of pilots don't stick to one oil brand for any length of time. Also guessing that this topic is being discussed due to the awful UK summer weather....
  5. Looks better earlier, rather than later. TBA on the rain timing. Richard.
  6. Andy's always supplied me with bits n pieces very promptly. No cause to complain at all. Richard
  7. Does anyone else have personal quantifiable/empirical long term evidence of a particular Oil/Engine combination being trouble free? Richard.
  8. Thanks for the info on FA - FD, quite interesting. Just a note for Castrol TTS/Power 1: I've only ever used this oil in my low revving Konig ppg since 1998 and I've flown 960 gps hours with this engine (Ignoring ground running), without any maintenance on the engine at all. I have swapped a Bing carb though due to butterfly barrel wear. Compression/Power/thrust/reliability all A1 since I bought it and no change. Richard
  9. Try launching with your 'ears' in. I normally use this method in marginal reverse launch conditions. It helps bring the wing up quicker and inflates from the middle more centrally. the 'ears' pop out before lauch on most modern EN certified wings. Richard.
  10. Yes - big A's - a fantastic training demo for others. The wing isn't even flying when he applies power. Get him to do this launch with the engine off. 3 successful attempts/practices to get the wing flying and then he could apply power. As a possible side issue, just check the length of the A's to the manual. Richard
  11. Sounds as if your Ozone Buzz Z needed a C/D line stretch. 25-30kph is dangerously slow if that was at trim setting (no brake), if it was properly loaded. It would easily fail an EN test at those speeds. And, slower of course with less weight just paragliding.... ENC test contradicts these figures http://www.para-test.com/images/Test_Re ... zzz-ml.pdf so I guess it was a glider servicing issue in your case. I once flew a Gradient PG comp wing (Avax RSE with trimmers) in the early 2000's under power and it was awesome in all respects, compared to the PG wing I was flying at the time. Glad the test was done in still air though. Richard
  12. I haven't found PG wings slow at all at trim compared to PPG wings of the same size. I've flown 8 different PG wings under power and 4 of those for more than 200 hours each and never experienced any oscillations. PG wings have always been more efficient, better to thermal and easier to land and launch. Other debatable PG attributes above PPG are proper EN Certification across the full speed range, more agility and simplicity. The two types of wings' profile technology appear to be merging now and that might be quite exciting for all of us. No more inefficient deep profiles with massive cell openings on dedicated PPG wings. Richard PS - Ozone Buzz Z received very good reviews for its flying behaviour, especially the Gleitschirm Magazine test.
  13. No issues with Chrome on an XP box. Richard
  14. These may know: http://www.wessexhgpg.org.uk/ Careful of their free flying sites and the Weymouth Olympic restrictions, should you extend your stay. Richard
  15. Good to see them sensibly flying, given the sucky cloud conditions. Are you sure you don't make those noises on take off at Castle Moreton?.... lol. Richard
  16. Details here: viewtopic.php?f=51&t=7814 Richard
  17. We all know this very basic stuff about low flying rules amongst the Powick group. Some of us have nearly a thousand ppg hours. You're just preaching to the converted as far as the Powick gang is concerned. I've never seen any of us do that sort of flying which was described by Jock. You need to direct your attack against the Kempsey low airtime flyers. Start a new topic "low flying around Kerswell Green area". Richard
  18. If it's this riding school, then it has to be some of the more inexperienced of the Kerswell flyer bunch causing concern, purely based on site proximity (ie next door). Worcester Riding School Cleeve Cottage, Clifton Worcester WR8 9JF 07889 569009 www.worcesterridingschool.com Richard
  19. Just checked GPS tracks proximity for Clifton centre and again no where near it for the last 2 1/2 years, so it must be one of the Kempsey/Kerswell Green flyers in his back garden. Does the farmer know he's soon to have 60 PPG flyers on his doorstep soon ............ Richard
  20. Flown near that part of the Severn both ways on 59 separate occasions over the years, according to my log book. So, it's more than likely to be me, but never to my knowledge low over cattle/sheep/horses. If you could get a "WHEN" and exactly "WHERE" the farm is on Google maps, I'll check my GPS tracks. So far, the tracks are no where near the centre of Severn Stoke, but I don't know where the farm is situated. The last time I flew low near there (but, the other side of the Severn) was 3rd February 2012. Jock, Inform the Defford crew and the Kempsey flyers also. Richard
  21. Carl, I'm trying to keep that site for my local paramotoring and it's proving to be quite difficult with two recent noise complaints. I do pay quite a bit of money to the farmer for it's use. I've only been on the site 4 months and I've already had to turn away local paramotor pilots Roy and Adam to try and keep it. If you could find another site local to you in Cannock, it would help my longevity of local flying from Clent since 1996. Cheers, Richard.
  22. That looks smart now Carl, all ready to go. I wish my back lawn looked that neat! Have a good w/e. Doubt there will be much flying up here over the w/e. Richard
  23. Good news on the repairs Carl. Hope you get some airtime soon. Worth contacting the Devon and Somerset Condors paragliding club for a visitor fly of one of their PG sites. Coastals sites are best with a bit of wind. Bossington hill is a favourite of mine. Richard.
  24. Ive got 14 days off from this friday, not been out this week ,got new upright for hg 2day,broke it last time i was out,and i never even took it up the hill.£27 for upright, with vat/post £62 never right,,lol..will go down to haresfeild to see tony and the bullit trike friday,if he is still planning to test one,,been very boyant around here this week.. Agreed on the lift! I was bouncing off my 1,000ft GPS warning of the 65FL above me, on Monday. Dark clouds still here now, so will probably give it a miss today. Best ever May flying for me. Much better than 2011. Good luck with the trike launches! Richard
  25. Yes Jock, let us know when the grass is cut, I've been missing my Powick 'fixes'! Luckily my farmer cut my take off field for me last Friday, so been enjoying the thermals the last couple of days. Big clouds yesterday evening had to be avoided over Kiddy yesterday. Richard
