  1. Just what I was looking for. Thanks Simon
  2. As well as other things yeah lol
  3. The headsets and radio's are all brand new so there should be no issues really. When I was flying alone I did put a call out on 2M calling frequency and was speaking to a guy 36 miles away so I know they do work but it always seems to happen when 2 of us are going to go flying which is very strange. Maybe I could try another model of radios and see if the problem still exists.
  4. I see nobody had posted in this section for 2 months so fingers crossed. Has anyone used a Baofeng radio with Micro Avionics headset? if so what luck have you had? I am using the Baofeng UV-B5 but sometimes have transmission trouble on the field where it either wont transmit or the button on the ear cup wont work so I have to press the PTT button on the radio but then I don't get Sidetone. The dip switches are set up correct and I have tried them on a few settings but surprise surprise they always work without fail when I get home. Very interested to know who else uses Baofeng radios.
  5. Yes many phones have GPS or similar but its weather I will have to use data to be able to track my flights which is the main question. I only plan on using it for flying so would rather splash out and buy some form of GPS unit and know im done, rather than spend £80-£100 on a phone, then have to keep paying data usage for each flight as that would work out more expensive in the long run. Maybe I should just stick to basic flying as I think I would only end up using the track logger to draw pictures
  6. aaah choices choices. Maybe I should just get a Kobo with XC Soar, but again I wouldn't get daily updates of airspace updates, although I do usually check NOTAMS before going XC. The key features I am looking for are 1) a route logger so I can see a line where I have flown, 2) Flight time so I can log my hours and 3) the option to program in Waypoints. I always carry 2 phones with me while flying and have a hook knife and red smoke canister on board too which I hope I will never need to use
  7. Thanks guys Still not answered the question about data usage on the iPhone. Will an app like XC Soar or Runway HD require data usage or will it work purely off GPS alone?
  8. I am looking to get either a GPS unit or iPhone and use an app to track my flights. I do not like iPhones but have read they are the only phones with a built in GPS chip. Does this mean I can buy an iPhone, put a sim card in and use one of the apps like XC Soar without using any of my data plan? I only want it for flying so obviously don't want to keep paying to track my flights
  9. With so many GPS units on the market I don't have the time to search everyone available so a little help is required I currently have a Magellan Meridian Gold GPS which is playing up so I am looking to upgrade. The features I want are the following: Buttons - (Touch screen will be ok if it works while wearing gloves) Screen no smaller than my current gps 2.2"h x 1.75"w (Colour screen is a bonus) Speedometer Direct route display (Shows a straight line to follow to destination) Able to download flight path to laptop Price: Under £100 Any ideas? Thanks guys.
  10. Ros125 or similar to fit in Pap 1400 frame Idally a Ros as it will fit straight in
  11. Can you inbox me details of the Walkerjet frame?
  12. Looking for a cheap low hang point paramotor frame or Walkerjet frame.
  13. I currently fly with some wind proof gloves but I have never flown in the winter so I will need to invest in another pair. A heated pair I think will be nice
