  1. Repacked both of mine yesterday. Having attended quite a few repack events since 1996, I have no problems repacking myself. I have no where to test a simulated deployment though. Richard
  2. I can't get there until 1pm on Monday. I'll take a look at the conditions then and decide on Powick/stay local/postpone. I'm OK for the rest of the week at the moment. Richard
  3. Hey Jock, Mike & I had our own team meeting at Powick: Decision 1; "We'll fly over that way for the first flight". Decision 2; "We'll fly the other way for the second flight". Richard ps - nice shots Mike.
  4. T'was Mike and myself Jock, two 1hr+ flights, quite a nice day and some thermals again! Even at 4pm there were thermals from the WSW faces of the wooded hills north of the Malverns. Cracking Day. Richard
  5. Still looks like an old ITV Proxima to me. Jock, are you sure this is a Dakota? Dakota's only came out in the mid 2000's. Richard ps - cracking flying on the first flight (1pm-230pm) in (up to) 350 ft/min thermals today! Got to base with engine off in 15 minutes at 3,600ft.
  6. Looks like an ITV Proxima sink machine? Richard
  7. Tried a quick one from Clent but soon realised VFR was compromised with the mist and aborted any hope of distance flying. Great shots from CM Jock, what's the old wing? Will be out on the motor for most of the week flying somewhere, should the mist allow. Let me know if you're out. Richard
  8. Jock, did you find out if Haresfield was on for Sunday from Tony? or will you be at Powick all day instead? If you're only doing a quick dash to Powick, I'll stay local again. Richard ps - good flying today from new Clent site.
  9. I'm a definite for Sunday (Gloucs or Worces), but I'll stay local up here on Saturday. Cheers, Richard.
  10. Where you thinking - Powick/Haresfield? Richard
  11. Mike, The Haresfield PPG site is a lovely flat piece of land and close to the Cotswold hills (Google Earth it). Great PPG flying country. Not to be confused with the SW PG site at Haresfield Beacon (called "Scaresfield"....) which is not recommended for low hill timers. Richard.
  12. Haresfield is a very nice place to fly. Look forward to the announcement of the flying meet. Richard.
  13. None of us should fall into the 'Dull' propaganda machine and neither also speak of which wing is faster than another. It's all been over done several times on this forum (and other forums) before. We all know the factors affecting speed and we're not going to succumb to "this is faster and and that's faster" again (hopefully). Just look up the (very limited) official test results and be content with their assessments. http://www.para2000.org/wings/sky/antea-speeds.html http://www.para2000.org/wings/paramania ... peeds.html (Vol Libre tests with paramotor - look at the sink rate!) "Within any recent unmodified EN class (A/B/C/D) and at the same weight/wing area, you won't see more than 5kph difference in all speed levels (stall/trim/speed bar) of any wing" Richard PS - Jock, buy an 8 sqm speed wing and you'll be faster than anyone!
  14. Looks like Airwave Black Magic wings and Konig powered Pagojets to me. Anyone else confirm this? Richard (ancient flyer...)
  15. Hey Jock, take a photo of it and post it on here. Richard
  16. Hi Jock, didn't go that far north. The furthest I went was about 3k south of Droitwich in that direction, about 215pm. Must've been someone else. Also a little misty to see that far. There were some tiny thermals from the housing estates and farm buildings. I had 200ft/min (engine off) from the clay works south of Upton. Quite good for January. Will be good for flapping today, if the viz allows. Richard.
  17. Didn't expect to fly from there today, but the track up to my new site at Clent was too iced up for the car to get near the field. Two flights of 1hr 23m and 1hr 44m saw a very good day of airtime (NE 4mph all day and quite warm in the sun). The final flight managed to catch up with G-ORGY red balloon (great reg!, better than my G-NORB). Surprised not to see anyone else there. Catch you next time. Richard.
  18. Still flying loads in NZ Jock. Averaging just over 3 hours/day. At Coronet peak (Queenstown) now, superb thermalling yesterday up to 5,200ft. Hope you get some hours in on that new Parajet of yours this week. Richard
  19. Raining next 3 days here in Auckland. Richard
  20. In case of tree landing - long thin string to gain a rescue line raised from the ground. Easy access pg line cutter Compass? Richard
  21. £60 Cash (train/Bus/etc.) Credit/Debit card I also have on my gps, all current petrol station locations. Good if my mobile can't get at least a GPRS signal. Emergency freq on my airband (121.5) and all local airfield frequencies. Like the idea of a 'tiny bottle' for the farmer/landowner. Of course a phone with current contact numbers. What about a spot locator? OTT? Richard
  22. I've always taken my inner bag just for packing convenience at the end of flying. I take my sausage pack as it's convenient to drape over my shoulders/back of the engine if had a bit of a walk out to the nearest road. What about 500ml of water? What about 200ml of TTS? Richard
  23. Anyone carry spares/tools/bits with them on flights in case of an out landing, in order to fix what broke and take off again? Thus avoiding the dreaded retrieve/taxi/walk..... This worked for me recently (HT lead spade broke, fixed with spare wire) This is my list (circa 400grams): Bare wire Insulated wire (stripped ends) HT lead String Fine string Bit of netting 2 part Velcro Ronsan Multi tool (pliers/cutters/screw driver Philips and flat head/scissors/knife/file.) PG line Large cable ties Small cable ties Insulation tape 3 sizes of allen (hex) keys (engine peripherals incl prop bolts) Bit of fuel pipe I don't carry spare plugs and a plug spanner due to weight/bulk. Does anyone else carry an emergency kit? Can anyone suggest any extras, bearing in mind weight/volume/practicality? Richard
