  1. Prohibiting overflying a built up area for FLPA/SPHG was in the previous version of the ANO. Richard PS - still need to be 500ft clear of the last house on the estate when 'gliding clear'.
  2. Free flew the 30ft cliffs at Shell Island 2 years ago. nearly 60ft asl at times ...... Richard
  3. Hey Alan, don't sympathise with Jock. He's always complaining about being a couple of ounces over 'ideal' weight. A few treks up the Malverns won't do him any harm! Size Zero Richard ......
  4. I'll fly about 2pm later if anyone is down there, else I'll stick to my usual site. Blowy today and, unusually, even more so tonight, ended up gale hanging on trim at 1250ft. Mynd good on Sunday though - wave bands of lift up to 4km from the ridge. Richard (awaiting someone to reverse the aging process...)
  5. Exactly my experience with it in 2004, bit of a barge to turn, but quite fast. Also not very economical from what I can recall, but quite solid in flight. Richard
  6. lots of these type of devices around http://www.microfuelgauge.co.uk/ Suitable for all 'pockets'. Richard
  7. www.Paramotorsuk.co.uk already have a list and might have update frequencies over the last decade, or so. The problem is it'll contain quite a number of ex flyers. Our own group of 6 pilots in 2001 is now just me..... In 1996 just after the footlaunch deregulation in the UK I was part of the Dave Bullard/Dave O'Donnell/Geoff Soden group and we reckoned on just 25 regular paramotor flyers in the UK then, whereas there may have been 300+ in France. Richard
  8. Probably just 600 'active' UK flyers doing more that 25 hours/year? Richard
  9. More info here: http://menmedia.co.uk/manchesterevening ... en?rss=yes Quite an impact on a substantial concrete wall. Richard
  10. Jock, I'm still invalid with my poorly back at the moment (housebound since Tuesday...). It is getting better, but unlikely to fly tomorrow. Have a good one! Richard.
  11. There are 3 listed here. http://www.para2000.org/wings/index.html Richard
  12. incorrect/oversize spark plug? Richard
  13. It has been reported to me that a paramotor was seen flying in the same area yesterday (Monday), but this time at a legal distance from any building/person/structure/etc. Notice seems to have worked. Richard
  14. If you can somehow hook on the frame, to the back of the paramotor, as a quick stop gap, you'll get a reasonable approximation. It doesn't look too bad at the moment. Richard (14.2 hours in 4 days!)
  15. If you can somehow hook on the frame, to the back of the paramotor, as a quick stop gap, you'll get a reasonable approximation. It doesn't look too bad at the moment. Richard (14.2 hours in 4 days!)
  16. Well done Jock, get the hanging right and you'll be flying everywhere. Knocked the gps flying hours up to 14.2 today, quite 'punchy' thermic in the afternoon, but ok in the evening despite a 20kph headwind at 1,000' asl. Richard
  17. Hey Jock, did you get that new 'beast' in the air today, or was it the hang glider? Just totalled 11.6 gps flying hours for the last 3 days. Great thermal flying. Engine doing well after fitting the new carb and a new exhaust tailpipe baffle. Richard
  18. My early afternoon flight of 2h14m cost me 3.5l today. I love thermalling! Richard
  19. Lord Jock, I'll be flying from Clent tomorrow but planning an xc to Shelsley Walsh for the vintage car runs. Won't be until 2pm+. Emptied a 20l gerry can last two days - Awsome thermal flying. Sir Rich.
  20. Best ever Jan/Mar/Apr flying under power for me. 68+ gps hours this year so far. Worst ever May though... Hopefully your Parajet will get you more hours in (on a SAFE wing). See what tomorrow am brings.
  21. ok Jock, I'll stick to Clent, but atmos soar predicts big updrafts & possible thunder clouds.....
  22. Jock, I'm game, but access and grass length needs to be sorted beforehand. Let me know. Richard.
  23. Endorsed here also, after I was accused 4 times of low flying over Stourbridge......... Still to find the culprit!! It gives us all a bad name just because of one idiot!! Richard
  24. Good old Didier, I bought one of his Konig paramotors in 1997. Still going strong 800+ hours later.... Richard ps - he was an olympic wrestler!
  25. Hey Jock, wasn't it supposed to be a van ?????
