  1. Ok, then perhaps Cambodia should offer the wing to garyfreefry for £2400 and to the rest of us for £1950 if he prefers it that way. The competition tables show the Nucleon and Fusion to be direct rivals so price comparisons are very valid. I think it sounds like a reasonable buy for your new price.
  2. Looks good, might be worth checking it comes with a bag, strap and rucksack as they are not mentioned in the listing.
  3. I take it you aren't aware that you can buy a brand new Nucleon with warranty, etc for £2395.
  4. You've got to be joking
  5. Time to concede that 'super loads of power' is not the best way to approach this sport perhaps!
  6. I haven't read or seen Noel Whittalls book but as he is UK based that should be suitable. However it might not have been updated recently so be aware of that. Should contain a good balance though of UK air law, airspace and the ANO so should be good reading as Vince says. The rest of Jeff Goins book and web site is probably the best resource for paramotoring available though.
  7. ...except, as Pete knows, there is a paramotor pilot genuinely called Ric Shaw so you can see why he bit.
  8. ATZ's, MATZ's, Unicom, transition altitude, airspace classifications, R/T phraseology, Flight Rule differences, etc, etc... it's harder to find a similarity than a difference. For air law and airspace understanding you must get training material for the JAA member state you choose to operate in. This is not debatable, just the law. This should then be combined with a basic understanding of the ANO.
  9. The one section of Jeff Goins PPG Bible that should be avoided (unless you fly in the US) is the section on airspace. The US has more exemptions from ICAO standard than any other nation, particularly over airspace matters, so consequently referral to this section should actively be discouraged.
  10. Not strictly true, it depends which country you are in. Germany only permits launch and landing from licensed airfields. All the info is here in the archives if you're prepared to look.
  11. Simple, their airmanship will come into play. Part of teaching someone to land is to look for other conflicting traffic as well as obstructions on the ground. If Carlsberg had made this field it would be slightly dome shaped!
  12. It depends on your wing, your ability to handle it, the site and how steady the conditions are. On the right day I am happy up to 18ish mph but that is using a pretty small wing. Venture slowly and carefully. When the wind is stronger use a Cobra launch. If you can't Cobra then don't try to fly.
  13. Only an hour south of Essex but I flew 4 times today. Had to be a bit careful for the first flight as the anemometer was reading 15mph but it was fairly steady. Used full fast trim for take off and landing and the Nucleon soaked it all up easily. I have a higher performance wing than this as well but I wouldn't have wanted to be on that today.
  14. You need a mentor rather than training. Look up an experienced pilot on the 'find a pilot' part of ParamotorsUK and fly with them. Their approach and knowledge will rub off on you.
  15. My flying ratio is around 10:1 motoring to free flying, and that's despite the fact that I live within a mile of one of the best free flying sites in the UK.
  16. I would have thought a Revo with an Aerofix certificate would be a very easy thing to find a buyer for and would give you a much better deal than px. This is the time of year to be selling your wing privately.
  17. I have a 2 prop version but was wondering if there was anything I specifically needed to buy to fly it on one. Now I know, thanks.
  18. If you go to the 2 prop version do you buy 2 new props or just another one of what you already have? What I'm getting at is does the single prop use a greater pitch than the doubleprop? If the single prop is just a double prop with one prop removed then it will rev higher but that isn't a problem with the FB machines as they detune and lower the max rpm from standard anyway for noise, economy and reliability reasons.
  19. Glad to hear the Monster is ticking the boxes the other 2 didn't do! I am curious to see you are flying it with a single prop. Is that the standard FB scimitar prop? Most Monsters run 2.
  20. Thanks Mark, it is the final piece in my jigsaw!

    Garmin GPS90

Is it always + and - ? If the error is always reading high the it could well be elipsoid error due to the model assuming a perfectly sperical earth. modern GPS have elipsoid error corrected and since the removal of selective availability are surprisingly accurate in their altitude readouts.
  22. You know, all of a sudden I just can't be bothered...
  23. I fly FB J bar set up on high hang point position (lower brake line dot and both pulleys) but comfort bar set up on low hang point position (higher brake line dot and upper pulley only). I find doing what you are doing (flying cb with high set up) means you don't get the last bit of brake travel you really need for a decent flare.
