  1. Sounds good, what's the price? What's the max rpm it can cope with?
  2. fanman

    Which stuff sack?

Yes, they are all for too over-priced! Go down the garden center and get a cheap round patio table cover with drawstring for a few quid.

    Garmin GPS90

    How far out on altitude?
  4. Did you read the advice on the other thread? It tells you why you are struggling but you didn't reply.
  5. Hoping this is a different one to the one I have already paid Graham for
  6. Have you been using the same 2 stroke oil all the time? I have heard of this when people mix different oil types.
  7. The G7's work really well with the MA headset mic. Unfortunately the built in mic on the G7 isn't so good for general use. It is a bit muffled compared to other PMR sets. I have 3 pairs of PMR radios and use the Midland for flying but Cobra for ground based communication.

    Garmin GPS90

I had a Garmin 45XL around that time and IIRC there was a series of button presses required to make it capable of coping with the Millenium change. The problem is that it is looking for where the satellites would have been at this time in 1910! Google search may well give you the GPS90 update info you require.
  9. In these days of super duper powerful motors with crazy power to weight ratios it is quite possible to have a stalled wing with forward momentum so perhaps you might want to rethink how cocksure you are in your reply Luke. Learning this game requires two key things... a guide who can communicate effectively and a student who knows how to listen. Regards Fanman (just enough hours to know a little bit about this game but still learning all the time)
  10. As you commence your pull up the airflow you are creating is not really 'steady' or 'laminar'. It's not the torque that's so much the problem with holding power on, it's the precession when you try to rotate the spinning prop disc from leaning forward on pull up to leaning back for the take off run.
  11. Icom radios require a change of the dip switch settings (mic moved from tip to ring) to work with the MicroAvionics headset... however the Vertex Standard VXA-220 (with CT44 adapter) and the VXA-300 (with CT91 adapter) will work with the MicroAvionics without changing the dip switches from the 2m/PMR settings. I reckon these airbands may well work with the Goldstar which is why I suggested a bit of testing earlier on. I have a suitable airband and adapter but don't have a Goldstar to try it on. Gordon, MicroAvionics say that you can't make an adapter to get their headset to work with Kenwood radios but Alan and I have proved that to be wrong. Never say never.
  12. Supposedly not compatible with airband radios. I would be curious to test whether this is just certain types of Icom brand.
  13. Sounds great. If you PM me your address I'll send you a cheque unless you'd rather any other form of payment.
  14. Ian, it's a good idea to come off that 1/4 throttle before commencing the run so you don't upset the god of gyroscopic forces! Is that what you meant but didn't write? I too find Paramania wings are really helped by folding over the tips on a forward launch (personally I just pull the center of the wing back so it forms more of a V) because the manufacturer does not fit split A risers, which is a shame.
  15. Tillotson HR197A. That info is straight from the MZ34 manual... www.compactradialengines.com/pdf/MZ34%2035%20manual.pdf
  16. As motors get more and more powerful and bought by people with less and less experience we will see a spate of incidents from people using motor thrust to get airborne before the wing is properly ready to fly. That is of course if they haven't torqued themselves into a heap first!
  17. There are 2 things wrong here... as Alan says if you are using the correct upper brake dot then you should not be routing the lines through both pulleys. You are effectively flying with both brakes partly applied in this configuration. Secondly, the Synthesis lands like a mushy old DHV1 paraglider when on full slow trim. Use 0 trim as a minimum. I used to use a fair amount of fast trim even on no wind days on the Synth (and still do on the Plasma and Nucleon) because this gives you more energy to flare with. The extra energy can be bled off nicely with a properly timed flare for a near stationary landing even on the fastest wings. For starters stick with the manual recommendation of zero trim and make sure your hands have been held up nice and high before commencing the flare. So in summary, you are making the wing mushy and holding on part brake all the time so you are left with very little energy to convert to lift to reduce your sink rate on touchdown. I am 100% sure these 2 things are the source of your problem.
  18. Well the wing loading hasn't really changed so it can only really be psychological. You should actually be finding that you have better flare authority... unless you have extended your brake handles to the lower dot and through both pulleys... have you done this? If so, put it back!
  19. I paid £9 for a brand new Jingtong JT208 and £25 for Puxing PX777 but these were in China. They are still pretty cheap when bought through ebay in the UK and shipping is paid. Hopefully I will be able to repay your efforts if my FB harness tests work out as they should.
  20. From what little I can see of your frame in the picture one of the machines I will be trying it on has the same frame. I wont get a chance to try this until the first week of June but I will take pictures.
  21. Was the tank from Zoom Karts? How big is it and how much? I need one, in case you didn't guess.
  22. Phase 2 complete and again total success. 2 adapters made up in full. With mic set to ring rather than tip and PTT type changed from resistive ground to hard ground I have full functionality with perfect transmit and receive quality. I have full use of headset PTT with sidetone coming in when PTT is depressed without having to engage selectable sidetone within the headset. This solution is everything I wanted to achieve and totally the result of Alan's patient assistance. Thankyou very very much. So £25 radio (license built Kenwood copy) better than Alinco with lithium ion battery and intelligent charger with £7 adapter to suit MicroAvionics headset. Result!
  23. More and more of us are ditching our regular paragliding wings and free flying our paramotor wings. The new reflex wings on the market (Fusion, Synthesis, Nucleon, etc) free fly REALLY well.
  24. I had it shipped to a hotel in the US for $205 all in and then bought it back as duty free allowance so no further duty on arrival to UK.
