  2. I would take the grumpy farmers phone number, and offer to ring a few hours before you plan to fly from the site. If he cares so much for the welfare of his horses perhaps he might like to move them to another field, or indoors during your flying hours. Bet the horses would soon get used to the nasty, noisy, big wingy things. Colin B
  3. Spinning a parajet compact 3 blade prop @ 99cm 2.7-1 ratio (I think) there are 4 different ratios available. Tested at 55kgs thrust. For more useless info I've used, BR7ES plugs changed about 9 times. 6 drive belts. 3 walbro rebuild kits (cut off the nipple on the rubber diaphragm) 2 plug caps. 1 starter motor bendix (the spring had sprung itself) Colin B

Have a closer look at the con air site The M19y Black Magic is the clutched version. its also only 120cc The M25y Black Devil comes in electric or manual versions at 172.5cc 22hp The old version you refer to is the M21y which is still 172.5cc 21hp .But Heavier due to a bulky engine mounting cast and standard flywheel. Been running my M25y for 400 hours on chainsaw oil without any major issues. Problems so far.... The internal flywheel and stator attracts metal dust like a hoover, causing ignition and charging problems (Easy to clean if your mounting allows). The solder joints on the stator required a little going over. Flooding was an issue using a primer bubble. So Ive now fitted a sliding choke from a Parajet Yup its a little heavier than the newer standards. but I call that build quility Colin B

Keep a 100ml bottle of Oil in your harness for any "land out" refuels ( don't give it to the farmer, he wont be impressed ) Expect your engine to die at ALL times, and pick out your landing fields in advance. Or the old classics.. When you start out in aviation, you have two buckets. One full of luck, and one empty of experience. The trick is to fill up the bucket of experience before you run out of luck Pick your flying windows carefully. Its better to be down here wishing you were up there. Than to be up there wishing you were down here. Oh and.....Watch or listen to Super Dell Sanchez with a really big pinch of salt.   7. Dede Your probably right. I really should try and get some more time in By the way well done on averaging 166 hours per year. My first year back in 2008 I managed 96 hours which was flying every day/evening it was flyable in the southern UK I stopped counting after that. And only having 2 collapses in 500 hours is quite extraordinary (non events when your high enough and experienced enough to expect such ) Which still begs the question why did the guy end up in the power lines? Perhaps I should get my butt over there for some master classes. So I can see a bit of Sudden and Unpredictable weather as I'm pretty sure we don't have any here. Cheers for now.   14. How about cutting the joint off the new Rotax flange, and welding it to the old Radne flange at the point where it rounds out? Before you do though, The Rotax exhaust is tuned for a certain engine capacity and rev range. Is it a suitable match for your motor?
  15. Don't worry, You probably have more mates than Dave even if its only the one . But along his line of thinking check the tank breather. About ten Min's running is enough to cause a vacuum in the tank if it cant let air in.
  16. Ah the good old days. Taking off uphill with a severely underpowered motor (RIP the pink thruster) landing downhill, missing the spot and continuing to the bottom as the ground fell away. Or just simply flying straight into a tree on take off. Good times

  18. I had the very same email from paypal a few weeks ago. Likewise, im buggered if im paying 20 euros for postage and tax from sweden for a 3 euro part. (flexi pipe) I'm currently trying to source a suitable/better replacement, I will keep you and any other Rad pilots posted. Knowing that every Rad engine I've ever seen/heard needs the exhaust sorting, I might make a bulk purchase Colin B
  19. Yeah, Both long zips on my suit broke, I took it to the dry cleaners and was quoted £20 a zip to replace. Unfortunately getting hold of the right length was impossible so needed to fit 4 half length zippers at £5 each.....£100 for zips on a £90 suit So, Ebay For chunky zips. And 4 nights of unpicking and re-stitching with a borrowed sewing machine. It can be done, but it ain't fun. Your on your own ther Malcs Colin B
