  1. Westmore you git! I'm not old....I'm 37 Had a good day so far, short flight for me at Simon's house with mike and himself. Roast beef waiting for me when I got home. and soon to go out and get embarrassingly drunk Cheers Colin B
  2. Put me down for a Sunday session old boy Colin B
  3. Hi Jock, I`ve got a new 140 cage/frame in the garage. Got it last summer to put my old vittorazi engine in.......it never happened PM me if you want some details. Colin B
  4. Depends on how rough you want Say you were to source all the separate components yourself for a 175cc 2T air cooled motor .Buying good quality motorcycle, Jap or Italian tested parts. Paying all taxes and shipping you would be looking at around a grand for most the bits..... The expensive bit and the only part not already mass produced for the motorcycle industry is the crank case. And although its CnC`d from a £80 lump of billet or rough cast, its cost the motor manufacturers thousands of sqid and man hours to design, test, and adjust for the best performance, weight saving, mounting points, re-drive options and structural reliability. With such a small market to cater for, the cost understandably gets passed on. I`ve not seen any prices or asked. But £700 at least would be a guess. Add final assembly, in house machining of pulleys/mounts, tuning the exhaust, testing, marketing and a little honest profit....That gives you little change out of £2.5 grand Failing that lob a couple of pulleys and a prop on an old sump pump that's been chuffing for years (and very well I might add) and you have a more than reasonable motor for half the price. Yes its all very expensive.....but bloody good fun Colin B
  5. Looks like I missed another good days flying Anyone out to play tomorrow? Colin B
  6. How about somewhere a little bit prettier than the A40/M40 junction. Commonlys farm is nice and the jacuzzi was great! but the local flying was far from awe inspiring. How about somewhere on the welsh border. Say about halfway up. As a youth I walked offa's dyke with a few mates. now that is something I would like to see again from a different prospective. Dirt cheep out of season camping and B&B. Or youth hostels if you want to really slum it/ meet some students/foreigners/weirdos. Cheep beer in welcoming pubs and quite possibly some fantastic flying to be had. Just a thought Colin B PS I'm not welsh. just like the place
  7. Looks a bit like "super dull" showing off again. As far as managing to keep a steady height, the style of foot drag is the secret I think. He`s taking just enough weight off the wing by holding himself up with his legs when he loses lift. Thereby keeping relatively steady with very little throttle or brake input........probably (Think of it like pulling a wheelie on your moped, outside the chip shop, with your left foot dragging behind so you don't fall off the back. ) Now if he tried it with his feet out front, unless he wears ski`s Its quite possible he will dig in. And we get to see how good the anti face plant crumple zone works. Colin B
  8. Seconded....Merry xmas all Hope everyone is feeling bloated from too much beer and food. Personaly I had my fried goldfish yesterday, They do it a little differently here in Slovakia See you guys in the field soon, asuming the car makes it back without freezing. nazdravia dudes Colin B
  9. Ahh memories of 1009 Hes been around a while, has our pete
  10. Hi Fred. You have come to the right place Until a few months ago I flew the vittorazi 80cc LC, backbone spirit 125. Unfortunately the pic I have is a little to large to download, so drop me a PM with your email add and ill send it. As to the routing of the strap. Its attached at 45 deg just above the right hand comfort bar, down to just above the main seat support on the left side. The buckle used is the same as the other four that hold the harness to the frame. And the strap routes under the main center strap between the comfort bars (last to attach). and is not connected to anything else. Don't worry about availability I carefully picked mine off the harness when it was no longer required, and its sat in the kitchen cupboard for some reason. As for motor spare parts, don't know But I do have 2 almost complete engines including gearbox/clutch for the 80cc LC version. Its possible the design is very, very similar Colin B PS. Is yours pink?
  11. Hi Gordon, Is it the bearing seal your replacing? or the gasket between the two halves of the gearbox? I know nothing either But if the former, Sounds like the hub and shaft is an interference fit. So...gently Heat the outer rim of the hub with a hot air gun or blow torch and it should pop off with little force. Using if you have one available, a 3 leg gear & pulley extractor (temporarily replace the centre bolt with a longer one) Or if not, (And I cant wait for the abuse to follow ) thread 2 long bolts through the hub, use suitable load spreading between the bolts and the gearbox, then evenly tighten to ease the hub away from the shaft while the hub is still hot. Assuming all goes to plan and new seals are fitted, don't forget to heat the hub again before sliding onto the shaft or it wont seat properly. oh and wear thick gloves.... Colin B
  12. Wolseley... eeeh them were real cars, back in the day, blah, blah, blah..........................stand clear.
  13. Doh.........Thats torn it When we used to play this at work the defaulter had to get the beers in
  14. Hi Jock, Why not weigh each blade on a set of digital kitchen scales, Then add paint or lacquer on the two lightest blades to match Colin B
  15. The other option I guess is to fit the smaller 50mm pulley to my motor. anyone got a spare one to try?
  16. Nice one... So if I've got my maths right... Running 2.49:1 reduction, 39inch 3 blade prop, I need a pitch of 13.5 deg Anyone know the pitch of a the standard Parajet compact blade? I ( ) temporarily adjusted the pitch of my blades for a couple of flights yesterday and it made a hell of a difference, (sustained full power for much longer). Just want to know the ideal pitch before I make the change permanent.
