  1. Brazil Has some of the highest import duty in the world 100% in some cases
  2. Yeah maybe £3500 was a tad optimistic then :-/
  3. £3500 should buy you a decent machine looking at what goes into them, but it seems that £5000+ is becoming more common. How much could you buy an engine for? Thor 200 ? When you start milling everything from billet it's going to cost more than just rolling ally tube, also parajet use the hydroformed aero section that's got to be considerably more expensive than stock tube. As aquatix said its down to production numbers the more you make the cheaper it gets. I can't see me ever buying a new Paramotor as their are to many rich mid life crisis types who buy all the kit and give up
  4. I gor an 7" android tablet of eBay for £100 and downloaded the memory map app too, works great and has a landscape option on the tablet . Has great route planning abilities or it just tracks your route. It was a toss up between this or the aware thing but that's silly money! Only problem is my maps out of date by a few years! Just paid £20 for my 2012 paper map so reluctant to pay another £20 to buy the digital version (again)
  5. http://www.parajet.com/paramotors/zenith Some info on the website now but no weight yet, Thor 200 95kg thrust
  6. Sounds awesome.. looks expensive I'm guessing in between the Volution range and the Rotrons? £5,499 (guess)
  7. Don't mind one naff day but if the forecast is shite all weekend then best postpone me thinks ??
  8. You can do it cheaper than 6k trainings 1k, good second hand wing 1k, motor 1.5-2k (might need a bit of tarting up) Helmet anything ce marked will do, bog standard walking boots, good coat, jerry cans x2 (3.99 each petrol station) forget about gps and stuff to start with you won't go too far away from your field for a good while. eBay isn't the devils work despite what most people think! I got my wing fom eBay for 1k and it's bloody great! (caution is advised obviously) you can get some great stuff cheap and the older you go the cheaper it gets. You could do it for £3500 or cheaper if you really looked about Tom
  9. Drill as small a hole as you can get away with, in the middle of the joist as that's the bit doing the least work. And not in the middle of the span but closer to one end. Tom
  10. Cheers Alan, I know it's not very good but I'm learning
  11. [vimeo]http://www.vimeo.com/39828085[/vimeo] A quick video from last weekends unexpected good weather Sunday, still getting my head around iMovie! but the mac's blody amazing 1080p clip in about 4 minutes when my old pc would take 30-40minutes! Tom:-) http://www.vimeo.com/39828085

  13. at least when most of us show off it doesn't end up in a court marshall and costing multi millions $
  14. It's not the app it's android that's crap... My revo has a big increase with the trimmers then another big one with the speed bar.

  16. Is the peltor set a micro avionics set or just a generic set? I had the same problem with mine as the headset was wired for icom, but I had a puxing 888 I tried making an adaptor with help from some great members of the forum but gave up as I'm useless I sent mine to Eddie at micro avionics to have it rewired to suit the puxing, should get it back tomorrow

  20. A visiting pilot at our field had an iPad as a gps using memory map, he had it in a leather type case with a neck strap. Looked like a good solution for gps, good battery too. I Got a "military case" for my iPhone so I could use it as a gps they do the same case for the iPad ""Griffin Survivor Military Case iPad 2 Black GB02480 NEW"" http://bit.ly/wVhXeo Tom
  21. Oh no ! That's really crap!! Hope it wasn't the first flight
  22. Glad you got it sorted Regards the vibration, I had a problem with my silencer vibrating against the cage on mine, I would undo the mount and push it back the other way (it's slotted) but after a while it would creep back and start vibrating on the cage again. It was very uncomfortable in flight so worth checking it's not that, I've modded mine now (size 12 cage bend) Tom
  23. Same as really.. It's mainly a commitment thing, especially in nil wind! But laying the wing out correctly and into wind is crucial. I take a step back arms out and fixed and then apply a third ish power then commit and go. Once the wing is up its full power and up up away Another thing, if you can't stand in a decent wind and ground handle your wing until you can do it with your eyes closed then you will always have problems imho [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]
