  1. The Speedster2 and sirocco 2 will be the same speeds... My Original Speedster is the same speeds as my old one give or take 1kph 73-75kg pilot flying all up @ 115kg on a 24m my speeds are... Slow 38 TO43 Fast52 Fast with Bar 60 you will not really notice any difference in speeds IMO between the S2 and the Sir2 but launch and agility will be better with the Sir2
  2. try weighing the fuel in you will be surprised how much difference there can be from just 'Looking' at whats left..
  3. is that with fuel weighed in until run out and timed or just i put 5 litres in and have X left in the tank?
  4. 15.5 litres i could easily see just over 6 hours.. 6.2 to be exact and 235km @ slow trim speed... More if i fiddle with jetting... you would need 31litres or 23.25kg of fuel on the 200-280 for the same time @5lph
  5. most 200 owners i have spoken with are around 5lph on slow trims flying standard/intermediate XC style wings... much higher trims out.. Fuel burn is cubed by the RPM remember... Vince @80-85kg claims 3lph on a 19m Free ride but thats still to be proven So i would say bigger CC = more fuel burn but bigger CC also = more power = lower RPM's for same trim setting so who knows... I think all pilots who are interested in XC should do a weighed fuel burn test in slow and fast trims so they know there exact fuel burn, add that to your ave speeds you will get an accurate km per Litre figure then everyone would get a real world database of pilots all up weights, motors, wings etc ending the BS Not an AC owner but i know a guy who was told he would get 3lph out of his machine but can not get under 5! to say he was unhappy was an understatement, i had to bite my tongue and not say told you so!!
  6. Karl... The best person who should be answering your questions is your instructor! He knows you we don't... where in the weight range?, although important is not the be all and end all.. you claim all up 139kg and will be going for a 130 max wing... This is now putting you outside the Cert. If your wing has one?. The higher up the scale you are on the wing will also increase your T.O and landing speeds, for all we know you may be a 120kg ruby player and able to run without any issue or short and round making a fast take off more of a challenge.. As a new pilot you will be flying in fairly calm conditions "i hope" yes the fully loaded wing is going to be less likely to collapse BUT if it goes or 'when it goes' it will be much more dynamic and violent over loaded than it would in the middle, especially if you start taking it out of it's cert.. you might want to float around in some thermals or in ridge lift, being at the top end is not going to be as easy as it would if your in the middle. Another consideration is going to be fuel burn at your weight close to Tandem weight your going to be burning a fair amount of fuel, Being fully loaded on your wing is only going to make it worse... Speak with your instructor and get his thoughts
  7. Thanks Casper... The hardest part of breaking a record is the Paperwork the other part is just flying...
  8. Thanks for sorting out that video vince... looks like i have nothing to worry about there... Looking at his Vario it looks like the Averidge is set way to low from 4-900fpm even if you said 600fpm ave climb thats pretty poor if you go by there 'Claimed' BHP and all the Power to weight ratio BS thats it got more than a 250 machine that has been spouted around the FB groups.. Accessible power 280cc putting out around the same as a moster looking at his climb rate... my moster was 600fpm and my hornet was 650fpm average figures What was the song by Public enemy?? ......... Don't believe the HYPE... I guess everyone is looking for something different in there machines... but people should base there purchases on what they want... lightness, fuel economy and weight ... There is not much difference in weight between a 250 for 2 hours and a 280 tornado... My guess would be the 280 wont do more than 2 hours or 75-80km making for pretty short XC's Don't forget about Price to.. our 250's retail at £6250 whats the Tornado £6500 a very basic engine compared to the 250 so why more money?
  9. were in west sussex, chichester area...
  10. Casper, I won't go into how i did the record as it took allot of Practical testing with different size wings and equipment and i would like this record to hold for many years to come. I know i can improve on this record and i have my eye on and think 10minutes to 3000m is possible with my equipment. I have a few theories to improve the times and possible Hight altitude records as the GPS climb curve showed max altitude of around 25/27,000ft in standard config. if i add my (therory) i think 27,000+ and less than 10 minutes to 3000m is possible. As i am not that much of a tech geek we did practical testing rather than a load of theory and calculations as there is far to many parameter that would change every test. We have used multiple wings from 26m-20m Viper 3 and Slalom 16m.. using a small wing maybe faster low down but will suffer more higher up I will look forward to some more thrust tests of the 280 to see what it is actually Pushing out in the real world. I know static thrust is not the be all and end all and power to weight is also key for Max climbing... BUT.... Looking at the video of eric there not even close to a 'good' or 'record' breaking climb rate... plus he was using the swing making it look more than it actually is,
  11. Hahaha, thats there problem.. i always go on real world figures and fact rather than hype and hearsay..
  12. I very much doubt the 280 has anywhere near the power of the Thor250, Having seen a US test where it was only slightly more powerful than the Moster...
  13. What was that video? 6 mps climb or 1181fpm is good...
  14. What do you mean by how optimised the record is? As far as i know it's been ratified and unbroken...
  15. i would say as a beginner you should go for a bigger size...
  16. Highest power out put would be the 250.. our Mac fly is 32kg so to my knowledge the lightest 250 on the market unless you stick a 250 in a miniplane or AC but there is not much in it. I get better fuel eco out of the 250 than i did from my 4 stroke.. Max power would be from the E props plug and fly 4 blade...
  17. if you want it safe put it in the boot of your car...
  18. For pricing you need to give us a call... Regards Mark
  19. Lee i know were a fair distance away but we would be happy to check the motor over for you... Try and old school trick and fire a little fuel mix down the cylinder and see if she fires... this will tell you if it's down to fuel starvation... I guess your on a walbro carb?... these can easily get clogged up if the motor has not been used for a while.. an Ultra sonic cleaner is a good way to clean any gunk from inside of the carb.. Give me a call on the Sussex Paramotors mobile number if you need any info...
  20. There are plenty of other machines out there that are light and very strong... The V3 is heavy but has a strong chassis the cages IMO are no stronger than other bands.. The light weight machines will always be weaker.. Go and feel and flex the machines your looking at and see for your self... In 2016 i had a rather large Prang... 8MPS vertical impact with the ground full parachutel from 1000ft and the only damage was one bent quarter and a stiff neck... Our Mac Fly titanium machines are Roughly placed in the middle for weight Thor80 21kg Thor 130 24kg Thor190 26kg Thor 250 32kg all very strong... Don't get blinkered into one or two brands go and see as many as you can and don't just buy one because you like the look...
  21. Swing and or oscillation can sometimes be down to the Paramotor set up, I have noticed differences when swapping from one machine to another... GR002 Call your dealer rather than getting secondhand opinions on a forum... your dealer should have experience with the wing he sold you...
  22. Having done and set 3 TTC (time to climb) World records if you want to do tandems and climb to that sort of height fast you will need a 250!! One main reason is the 250 is So reliable compared to the 200... Also the state of tune at sea level needs to be set Lean otherwise you run out at altitude as it's getting richer all the time... We have attempted and have broken the Tandem TTC record but have not been able to claim it due to Instrument failure and a slight Airspace infringement... My PF1 3000mTTC climb rates started off at 1000fpm dropping to 750fpm @7500ft, 600fpm around 8500-10000ft 13m45s to 3000m 10,000ft (9842) from sea level... PF2 all up 165-170kg 26m Viper 3 was around 650-700fpm dropping down to 450-500fpm... I wont go into to much detail how I did achieve these Climb rates thats for you to work out.. Climb rate depends on Everything!! wing, motor, and weather... More power will increase climb rate if the wing allows it... As for you going for 10,000-12,000m I don't mean to sound rude but have you worked out the height in Feet? LOL.. Ramon's record was around 24,000ft if i remember..
  23. The Free ride is a slalom style wing so will have a great roll rate and will be twitchy , Ive not noticed any oscillation on my 15m flying in calm conditions, testing Ave speeds in calm conditions there was no correction needed from slow trims to Full Bar... When the air is not so smooth it will move around for sure but any High level Slalom wing will. there designed to turn!! I only have to look at my brake handle and it will loop!!! Reports form some of our pilots flying 19m's say the same.. Most if not all of it's speed will come from Bar or using PK system.. The old slalom used to have a much longer trim range but i always used to fly it 1/2 to 3/4 as this was the sweet spot for agility and brake feel... This was also confirmed to me By Alex Mateos who used to fly the same position for Slalom.. The trim range on the Free ride feels the same as my old 16m Slalom, nice light feel on slow with just enough pressure trims out.. GR002 your Comment about low air time is Correct... but i think it goes without saying really... This wing is un certified like the Slalom Viper 3 and Viper 4 so Very experienced pilots only and also those who have small wing experience... Even a highly experienced pilots with 1000's of hours on large wings will have a very big shock dropping down to Any sub 20m (slalom style) wing.. My advise before buying is to speak to a dealer who has Experience with the wing you want to buy and go demo one! I am surprised you went with a 19m flying a Bailey V5. flying around 7.1kg Per Square meter that poor motor won't have the power to fly it correctly.. i'm 115kg all up @7.66kg Pm2 and need every once of power the 250 can give...
