    Ariel Atom

They are now doing a limited run of V8 Atoms - WOW !! Mark you better start saving Race setup is 500bhp at 10,600rpm. Couple that to the fact that the Atom V8 only weighs 550kg, and performance is seriously brisk. 0-62mph takes less than 2.3 seconds, with 100mph from rest taking just 5.4 seconds. In road mode, top speed is 170mph which stretches to 200mph in race setup. The power to weight ratio is in excess of 900bhp per tonne, easily beating the Ferrari Enzo’s 434bhp per tonne and Bugatti Veyron’s 530bhp per tonne.
  3. Paul had his HD headcam running during the flight, here is an example video image capture of me over Newlands Corner, hopefully we can get some nice vids later this year.
  4. Can't top Pete's story Last time I landed in Northumberland the police heli turned up & circled round just after I had packed up, don't think it was a coincidence and everyone there knows it's me flying but nothing further was heard so they may have been curious.
  5. Hi Jon, thanks for the feedback and good luck with getting started in the sport, I'm a few years into it now and it's still as special as it ever was, I'm sure you will love it. Here is a pic of the Surrey boys high over the North Downs last weekend.....
  6. Definately up for that depending on weather though.
  7. It was touch and go and definately better safe than sorry, especially since the engine was coughing as I circled down over Paul's field. Don't forget its Seymores party next weekend....may be up for that if I'm not working
  8. Thanks to Chilly for pointing out that the Met Office has a beta site that may well go live depending on feedback, have a look for yourselves, very nice and easy to switch between rainfall/pressure/cloud etc. It's like Christmas has come early http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/pws/ ... eathermap/
  9. Thanks for the nice flight tonight Steve, and thanks to Paul for storing my kit at his place, just realised I was on fumes and just not enough to get back to Barrys safely so decided to land out. Macro powered QFI Paul & Steve over Guildford
  10. I did wonder why Farmer Dave had not posted on here for a while, obviously busy with the harvest

    Gusts

See bottom left of pic, will be a few gusts around Hurricane Danielle...
  12. Monday eve may be ok for me, will let you know.... Good luck and keep us in the loop regarding fields.
  13. Slow trim = fastest ascent, so far my highest was 7500ft but I would like to join the two mile high club at 10560ft when I have a spare afternoon, it's chilly but the view is nice and peaceful
  14. Top pics mate as usual, I'm having the same weather fun as you - currently staying on the Border in Kielder forest and it's sun/rain/cloud/wind/still changing every 30 mins so not getting much airtime. At least your campsite is a bit smooth for when it does drop off a bit
  15. You all know how useful it can be to keep a logbook, well ours pale into insignificance when compared to this WW2 B17 navigators logbook which I have uploaded. Very sobering reading, especially when counting chutes from downed bombers in their formations, and the description of hundreds of enemy fighters attacking when their fighter escort turns back . Good rainy day reading....
  16. Harvest time is my favourite time of year for flying & watching the fields full of machinery.
  17. Love the way you can hardly tell where the power lines are, you would not be smiling as much if they were in front of you !
  18. Nice work Malcs, so when is the housewarming & fly in ? do you keep your beer cool in the well ?
  19. Got a quick couple of photos between jobs, bugger though as was not anticipating the spits so mucked up that photo however the F22 did play ball hope you like the thermal images.
  20. Personally I did not want to go tandem to learn, I found tow launching to be good take off and landing practice and I was aware of the difficulties you have when flying tandem.
  21. Can't be sure as I'm working in Slough first thing, just get yourself there anyway.....
  22. Thanks, I'm on call so between customer visits I park in the housing estate and take my camping chair & camera to the Elles Rd roundabout, could have killed an ice cold beer
  23. The photos from today speak for themselves....
  24. yup, there is a roundabout on Elles road (in the industrial estate) thats centered right under the jet display path, they are pretty much directly overhead during the high energy manouvres, here are a couple I took from 2008.....
