  1. Does that include equipment rental ? I remember when someone untrained turned up to our flying field and flew straight into a parked trailer. Times like that you can't put a price on training........
  2. Hi, not flown for a while but you have the best place for a million take off options. As for training not sure who is local as I currently live down south but my folks live by Kielder dam wall.
  3. If they had called Barry they would have been told there was another small annual event on. The airfield is right in the middle of the GU3 area, a very rural agricultural part of Surrey and well away from built up areas. Unfortunately the new “controlled airspace” allocated to Farnborough means that light aircraft, gliders, and other users of “uncontrolled airspace” will be squeezed closer to the ground - that's where the issues lie hence the odd local house will have to put up with occasional engine noise. I also live locally and we get more noise due to lower light aircraft but that's what you get living close to airfields, it's nothing new. 4. Looks like it was a combination of a big event hosted at Homestead farm (50+ paramotors, flexwings and Gyros etc) combined with the revised CAA Farnborough airspace restrictions which has forced pilots to fly closer to the ground in this area. Hopefully Barrys revised flight paths and timings will stop further complaints. The videos posted earlier do show how annoying paramotor noise can be, but at least it shows them flying at sensible height following the law (152 metres away from buildings etc).
  5. If you are being trained in the UK you will learn a lot about our "changeable" weather and won't waste hours driving on unflyable days, your instructor here will have an eye on that. There is something about learning in the environment that you will be going solo that's a strong factor for staying here. That said, a lovely sea breeze on a beach in Portugal sounds very inviting.
  6. Hi guys, Just a note that someone living in Guildford mentioned to me that a few low flying paramotors have come to their attention recently causing a nuisance. it's the houses directly after the Hogs Back transmitter as you are flying due East to Newlands Corner. If you are able to get a few hundred feet higher or divert slightly South I'm sure it would be appreciated. Thanks
  7. Everyone is dying to get out in the sunshine to play with their toys but it's just not on, it's very bad for the sport if you are seen flaunting the rules now. Exercise is going for a walk/run/cycle from your front door, most people can do this without injury. Sister-in-law is a front line nurse doing night shifts, she's ringing us every day and it's incredibly grim, way worse than on the news. She would cut off your balls with a rusty knife if you went in to her hospital with a broken ankle after going for a quick fly while everyone else manages to stay at home.
  8. Suunto X-Lander watches are cheap and accurate
  9. It's correct - counters the torque steer when under power.
  10. I'm sure Paul Green was up over Newlands corner a couple of weeks ago, otherwise see who's knocking around from Barrys place at Normandy.
  11. I'm sure it would have been Basingstoke common - quite a few fly from there
  12. Pete, enjoy your time with the nurses, maybe get a go-pro fired up for some interesting in hospital footage Get well soon mate !
  13. Love your mate in the tractor flashing his lights
  14. If you want to watch the Parajet display team they stream the footage live every day:
  15. Just a heads up, Gilo is displaying at Farnborough and he's booked to do his validation display at 11:30 tomorrow. Full article here Sorry I can't make the fly in, already had tickets for an event at Folkstone
  16. A decent Lawnmower repair shop will stock the service kits for the WG8, they are only a few quid.
  17. Cheers Simon it's a great site with a good vibe, I think my blog is a gnats away from 35,000 hits
  18. He's been repeatedly banned from most forums, he's been on here using different names like Tony Lawrence, Tony Paramotor, Luke etc. I remember Simon offered him a ground crew role on the T2T but his reply was "i fly paramotors iam not ground crew........MATE" so I believe he went off to arrange his own JOG to LE trip. He's very clued up on 2 stroke motors if you need any help.
  19. That's likely to be Paul, was is this wing ? (skimming Wisley last year)
  20. There was a PPG event in the area, Agama systems were tested , photos are indeed out there.
