  8. At least it was a soft(ish) landing
  9. Might be useful.... (right click- view image or save as...)
  10. Metcheck model seems to differ slightly on the wind front...anyone bringing a speed wing ?
  11. Save your fingers by not starting it yet and wait for Morgy to give it the once over and show you safe motor handling. Worst case scenario is while in transit the carb has stuck wide open and when you start it you get full thrust and it eats one of your limbs
  12. Christ Gary you will have fun at airport security Hope you recover to flying strength asap, very good point about always having a phone on you.
  13. Have you ever done a balloon flight ? it's all peace and tranquility floating over the scenery. I can see both the excitement of a passenger exchanging waves with a passing aviator, and also the pilot being peed off at having his peace shattered by a circling angry wasp. I always zoom past, take a quick photo, quick wave and bugger off at max speed to allow their peace to be restored asap.
  14. I hope you managed a cracking flight to the IOW this morning, clearly I won't be along tomorrow with the wiiiiiiiiiiiiiind forecast
  15. Stick your location in your profile and we may be able to put a chart on here for you to check out.
  16. Am hoping to pop down on Sunday And a reminder of the Hambrook site rules: The area's in Red are "No Fly Zones" The area's in Blue are "Only above 500ft agl" The area's in Yellow are "Only above 1000ft agl"
  17. Just bumping this to the top as I have had a few questions lately re: who does prop repairs
  18. Superb clear skies on the coast plus a high noon sun brought out some cracking colours in that vid, might take me a bit of practice (with my pull start) to get an engine off touch and go landing like yours
  19. simon101 - give Debbie Hewitt a ring (managing director of the RAC) and tell her that the AA offers members a slightly better membership, and therefore she should merge the RAC into the AA and give her mechanics AA training and certification - plus get all her vans painted yellow, see what she says ? seems like the same type of mission that you are on now ???
  20. maybe one day the BHPA would like to have PMC accreditation ? When I was training years ago I looked at the BHPA but did not like the look of the syllabus and it's bias for paragliding so I went with the BMAA. Unfortunately the BMAA then stopped doing paramotor training so I went with the PMC which gave me the unique oppertunity to compare the two - and they were pretty much identical (as you would expect). Since then the PMC training manual and instructors have improved so much that I can see why people are chosing to train with them. I can't see any benefits from going the BHPA route apart from getting a BHPA rating if you are into that sort of thing. One other thing - PMC training is excellent value for money and you can get 3rd party insurance cheaper than with the BHPA, the sport is all about being the cheapest form of powered flight.
  21. Cracking map Barry....hope to pop down to see you and Mark sometime The area's in Red are "No Fly Zones" The area's in Blue are "Only above 500ft agl" The area's in Yellow are "Only above 1000ft agl"
