  1. Meds, great to hear you had some good weather. You didn't fly? just drink beer? The pic here looks nice and looks like you might have been blessed with a few thermals (I see a cloud shadow in the pic). Cheers, from Brazil! Tom
  2. The speedster has to be flown like a pG wing means you have to fly it actively when the condition get rough with trimmers in.... It is very much like a PG wing in it's thermaling flying characteristics. If you dont fly in rough air you have nothing to worry about as it is like every other PPG wing out there... SAFE.. Mark That's what I thought, just wanted to be sure.
  3. Just go with "Brains? NONE !" I like to think of him as "trailer trash" in the sport..... and the shoe seems to fit..... listen to him talk you will agree in 2.5sec He`s an ass pirate even in Brasil!
  4. What do you mean by this? The Speedster does need to be flown (with trimmers in) IE like a PG wing
  5. Alan posted this look at 5.25 with trims in the wing had a collapse (really big wing over and did not have enough brake on high side) High side lost pressure and collapsed just like free flying wing would Outkast you might be on to something its for sure a reflex wing but I know with the Nuc when my trims are at "0" I think the wing is in a Hybrd mode there seems to still be reflex. The brakes are still hard to pull. I'm looking forward to getting the speedster to do some tests. I want to know how they managed to use the speed bar through the entire trim range. Have any of you guys watch the risers and see how the wing applies the speed bar? Is it just pulling the front down to change the angle of attack like the Nuc or is it applying through the entire wing. There is more detail about this in 2011 paramotor mag.
  6. You can see the strange way the reflex comes back to life at the end here on the frontal But man the new reflex wings are looking so stable and at full trim as you can see in the video he cant collapse it. i wonder if the speedster becomes this "solid" in full trim
  7. This I totally dissagree with Steve & Pete B Non-Reflex Demo You can not do this with any glider! you can not have the risers more then 42" apart this depends on the glider of course but 3-4 feet...... His other test (full reflex) pulling down on the front riser set I'm not sure either this means much.... correct me if I`m wrong. I will say I know the reflex profile has a tenancy to float backwards unlike the free flying wings. I want to try this test with my nuc.... and soon after with the speedster when it comes I think what concerns me more is when the reflex does collapses the time it takes to re-inflate... the intermediate free flying wings "snap" back really fast. Will a full reflex wing do the same? The one video of the speedster doing wing-overs and kept going them like nothing happen even while occurring a 40% collapse was impressive. I would like to know what the trim was. anyone know?
  8. It's a full reflex test (and not recommended buy any company) Let the trim fully out so you in max reflex and with full speed bar then apply brake you will see/feel the wing tips start to deflate however in the paramotor mag teat the wing tip of the speedster did not deflate. that's why paramotor mag testers then asked Ozone what is the percentage of reflex in the speedster their reply was: Reflex is a geometric characteristic of the profile and can not be expressed as a percentage. The amount of reflex in an wing can not be rated as a percentage as there's no reference. At full speeds do not use the normal brakes use wing tip steering They are just stating it a reflex profile
  9. Did you read my post under Nuc / Speedster? I was hinting at the same thing. Even Paramotor mag asked Ozone directly. I posted the Ozone reply (well part of it. I can post the whole reply if you want Some of the test even when paramotor mag tested the no trim, full speed bar then pull the brakes the tips did not deflate..... this indicates semi re-flex Either Ozone has preformed magic or the speedster is semi reflex... maybe 3/4 reflex! hehehehe Either way it has retained lots of free flight wing characteristics with some extra speed
  10. Has anyone seen the Paramotor review on the speedster? Paramotor Mag August 2011 First point of interest "With trimmers off and full speed bar we pulled on the brakes to see what happen. The wing seemed more pressured then other wings. Is this an indication the speedster is not a full reflex wing" So we asked Ozone, "Reflex is a geometric characteristic of the profile and can not be expressed as a percentage. Second "We got the speedster up to 63km/h so its diffidently up there with other gliders but does not out perform the other gliders" Speed bar "This can be used through the entire trim range". Is this because the wing has a different reflex profile or is it the way they apply the speed bar like Dav Dagault's newly developed setup? I don't have a speedster YET, but I would love to see how the speed bar is applied across the risers!
  11. Every comp of any kind should have an "open" class simply based on a size 14m, 16m, 29m paragliders or 350 400ci for example in cars I think it provides a forum where new idea's can surface. However this tends to require safety to be factored in somehow. 9 times out of 10 safety takes a back seat to 1st place.
  12. Interesting for sure requests precise inputs and slight corrections. I manage to draw my path where I want; the wing turns well, brilliantly! It accumulates a lot of energy and you need to know how to administer the speed bar to transform the energy of the surge in powerful acceleration at the exit of a turn. over-braking or releasing the speed-bar abruptly can cause a really huge surge. Hands-free and with closed trimmers I fly at 39-40 Km/h; with open trimmers I reach the remarkable speed of 52 Km/h. Combining speed-bar and trimmer I achieved a maximum speed of 63 Km/h. It seems they are having a really hard time pushing past the 63-65km/h range even in the small gliders but that's still a huge jump in 4ys or so.
  13. Did you ever manage to get this going? I have was looking for the same thing here's what I ended up with Icaro TZ no head set Microavionics 1. Headset MP001a 2. Bluethooth mm06 Mp003 to connect the headset to BT 3. Radio connect mm014DD 4. Mp004 for standard ipod, galaxy Works nice, music is great. Once the head set is on I can not hear the person talking beside me. I will test the BT vs the standard MP004 connector for quality loss. covers everything!
  14. You know you want to spend it On beeeeeeeeer....... lol That would be good for a keg! at 3liters left you can start to convince people to go home
  15. Understand, just want to see worst case. Ok I will contact you just busy as hell at work. T
  16. Guys we can move it to my place! The weather looks good For the next 7 days it's 3-6kns and 26-28deg. I'll get a few ladies to serve us cold beer and fold our gliders once we land. http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?go ... &sc=122062 Buell
  17. T How did you get a 130 prop in a small cage? or dont you ever do forwards as the prop would cut your lines It's no issue but I do forward launches almost always or if doing front launches I take a few steps back and commit 110% Once the glider is up at 60deg or more apply generous amounts of throttle. But its not that bad. I can take pictures if you like. I was just looking the 125 says 52k of thrust so I must be over that with the helix. It does not take me much to get off the ground. T
  18. Don't forget import taxes for people that are not local to the maker.
  19. I'm 80k and fly the miniplane 1. Small cage 2. Helix Top 80 Carbon Fiber Propeller (130cm) 3. Gearbox is a 19/73 ratio With out gas I'm around 21k and 105k thrust apprx. That's about 47k of thrust with no issue. I like to keep it light. I fly a 29 Nuc and maybe a 26 speedster soon I fly in mainly shorts and T. I'm not sure if I need more power but I agree with the guys it's always nice to have if you need or if your going to do a one step full power launch..... hehheheh. But if you do this type of launch you need the washable harness option. Update from site website static thrust kg 115 47k 125 52k T
  20. anyone know a dealer in the US or Canada with good ozone prices?
  21. 26 eh? Hemmmmm I do come from paragliding. I have a gin (free flying wing) and when you pull 6-7" of brake you better mean it. On the Nuc when I pull the brake it almost touches my legs before I get good feed back. I'm a Canadian living in Brazil. I'm thinking of Buying one and running both for a bit . Then when I choose one I can easly sell the other. Being Canadian I don't have to pay the 60% import tax the government puts on all imported products. Now lets talk 26 vers 28 Free flight would be great no issue 26 weight 80-110k The Speedster 26 weight 80-110 Weight Motor Heavy Heavy Me 81 Cloths 2.5 gas (737.22 kg/pl) 3 Para motor (miniplane) 21 Glider 6.05 Total 114 Weight Motor Light Light (shorts) Me 81 Cloths 2 gas (737.22 kg/pl) Para motor (miniplane) 20 Glider 6.05 Total 109.05 Your right need to hit the scales.... lol Need to find a set, but on the heavy I know my weight bare and I added a 1k on the mini and 3k for fuel and 2.5k for colths. I normally fly in T,Shorts and shoes. unless I go for a thermal ride them pants, 500gram coat, T and shoes. not to much I like to keep it simple. Now you said it moves like a paraglider wing in 0 to low trim (paraglider mode). My Gin "bites into thermals", no issues here. It has the square wing tips that give you a nice jolt in the ass when the come into contact with a thermal, no issue. What I have issues with is the left and right wing constantly over taking each other ( i like to call it squirming). So you constantly get the feeling the wing is going left and right. I've been on a few wings like this and hatted it. Thanks for the feed back T
  22. I've been kicking this idea around for a bit, ever since it's been out (the speedster) lol. I've just recently bought a Nucleon 29m wing. This wing is rock solid great XC wing no question. Even if your a beginner this wing is a great fit. It seems like no matter the conditions this wing just hangs about you. Risers are a bit complicated for a starter but it takes about 5 min to figure out. Launching is also great. In flight the wing never squirms (this is love). What I mean about squirm is when you fly a wing and it feels like one wing end will jump forward then the other. I think this is more in the intermediate/advanced free flying wings. However I love to play around some of the trees we have here doing some slalom etc. The 29m seems to be really hard to throw around. After a 1/2hour of this I normally need to land rest my arms and get some water. Also I'm going to the mountains this week and buy the looks of my calculations I'm a under weight even if I use my heavy harness. Now I've flown light on wings before no issue unless it gets really thermic then you run a higher risk of experiencing some frontals and collapses etc. Calculations: The Speedster 28 weight 95-125 Weight Motor Me 81 Cloths 2.5 gas (737.22 kg/pl) 3 Para motor (miniplane) 21 Glider 6.25 Total 113.7 Weight Free Flight Me 81 Cloths 4 Harnes 3 Glider 6.25 Parachute 2 Total 96.25 The Nucleon 29 weight 100-130 Weight Motor 100-130 Me 81 Cloths 2.5 gas (737.22 kg/pl) 3 Para motor (miniplane) 21 Glid 7.3 Total 114.8 Weight Me 81 Cloths 4 Harnes 3 Glider 7.3 Parachute 2.6 Total 97.9 It looks like the 27 speedster would fit the weight range for both really nice I'm looking for you guys input on the pros's and con's of each. I would like to know some detail on how the Speedster feels during flight etc. I don't have a chance to test things here.
  23. Glad you guys got out! The pictures are great! Yea they get a ton of flying in around here. If it was not for work we could have went out everyday for the past two weeks. In my area during the summer the thermals are not something you want to meet! Its just coming into a really nice time, Fall and Winder here. The thermals get really nice fat and friendly. I'm in an area where the back mountains in the summer create some crazy thermal winds (time to kitesurf 20-30kns). You can motor in the morning but the sea breeze comes in quick. There are guys that free fly in the summer mornings and afternoon but you need to be in good practice and at the top of your game if you wish to fly from 1-3pm in the summer. Looks good all next week maybe time for a vacation lol http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?go ... &sc=122062 good luck for the coming days Can you start a thread about your motor? I would love to see more pic's and details you have the T
  24. You SOB's!!!! I got stuck on the coast all day eating up gas. It was a strange day. I cant complain it was great on the coast lots of sun but the mountains inland where cooking up a big thunder storm. later in the day at least 30-40nm away I could feel them "sucking" in the sea air. I'll upload the vid when I get a chance! Great pics! Looks like you have an epic day! Congrats from Brazil Tom
  25. I agree, I would be pissed too. I fly a nucleon and I've done some testing and even releasing one side of the trimmers I can feel that side speed up and the wing starts to fly sideways until I release the other side. Once both are out I have to increase the throttle because my sink and speed has increased. I can verify the speed increase on the vario.
