  1. Hello. I'm a lead acid battery dealer and have looked at your pics. I wouldn't say that you've bought a duff battery, but I would say that you have bought the wrong sort of battery! The only batteries which are completely leak proof and so can be installed at any angle are gel batteries as per here - http://www.varta-automotive.com/index.php?id=301 If you scroll over the pic it will explain. So even the AGM (advanced glass matt) Varta battery supplied by Parajet is not the correct product for the application and although it's unlikely it still can leak! On the plus side, gel batteries can easily be sent through the post. The drawbacks are that they are more expensive and many manufacturers do not make gel batteries in the CT4L-BS size with the starting capability required for the Parajet. I have quoted Parajet for gel starter batteries in the past and they bought a couple of samples but the battery manufacturer wanted quite a large minimum order and so probably for that reason Parajet never came back for any more. If you're interested I will enquire with my supplier tomorrow to see if he can get hold of a small number of these and a price? Best regards, Ian.
  2. Probably doesn't help make the decision, but I'm ok with either date!
  3. Yes that would have been me, small world! Glad you got back into the air. Weren't you after a fly castallucio? See you at the fly-in (if not before!) Best regards, Ian.
  4. Used to collect waste oil and other garage waste but concentrating on selling new batteries now. Why's that?
  5. Voted yes to both of the above, thanks. Only coming from Kent and really looking forward to this! Do you need any help with anything? Best regards, Ian.
  6. What you need is a secondhand version of this - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/bargain-gx270-honda-9-0-quad-flail-mower-petrol-/300540452868?pt=UK_BOI_FarmingEquipment_RL&hash=item45f99b6004 As previously mentioned toppers are usually powered by the PTO (power take off) shaft on the back of a tractor but something like this has it's own power so it can be pulled by a quad or car. Or you could buy a cheap PTO powered topper and bolt/weld a small petrol/diesel engine onto the driveshaft which would normally connect to the tractor. Sounds like a good problem to have though! Best regards, Ian.
  7. My Paramania Revolution uses small rubber "o" rings to hold the lines in place. Never had a problem with them falling off and cheap/easy to get hold of from local plumbers merchants or DIY shops. Detail here from 1 minute 28 secs - [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]Best regards, Ian.
  8. Thanks Alan. That looks like a really useful find. Would be good to be able to attach for dusk flights. Being tough enough to withstand diving to 500m depths it will hopefully also be tough enough not to be an effective petrol fume ignitor in the case of a crash! Cheers, Ian.
  9. Defo up for that. Would be great to fly over an amazingly picturesque part of the country. Good luck! Best regards, Ian.
  10. Very impressive! Having been privvy to some of the info I'm sure that it will be successful and wish you well. Best regards, Ian.
  11. At the risk of complicating your decision further, I have seen and heard about the new Bulldog Spirit Polini so you might want to add that to your list! I also hear that if it's not on sale yet then it soon will be. Worth contacting Clive Bunce if you are interested. Ian.
  12. I have been watching the development of electric paramotors with interest for some time but after many false starts and promises of imminent product launches it seems to have gone quiet on that front lately. I'm seriously thinking about building my own, how hard can it be? I have seen this motor and thought I'd share it on here to canvas any opinions or experience that you may have. It's only $300 and at 20hp allegedly has the equivalent power to a 100cc engine. I know that there are loads of other bits required to make a working paramotor but it looks to me like a good starting point? http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14427 Best regards, Ian
  13. Lol! We could call it a cross country from the houses of parliament, couple of spirals around Westminster Abbey, touch and go in Chelsea barracks then on to see her majesty at Buckingham Palace for tea and cucumber sandwiches! If we plan it for the bank holiday on 29th April we wouldn't even need to video it if as there will be plenty of other people about to capture it for posterity! By the way, I enjoyed the video even though you were very naughty boys in it. Best regards, Ian.
  14. .......unless you were born in or after the year 2000!
  15. Quite a while back I wanted to see what all the fuss was about the self proclaimed "Super" Dell so joined his forum only to quickly take myself off again when I realised what a self promoting, nasty, ranting fool he was. I could have just kept away from the forum but didn't want him to be able to claim my dormant membership as some sign of support or popularity. And when he ruined Julius's memerial video with his vile comments that sealed my negative views on the guy. Just a shame his videos are so popular which gives him an air of credibility to newbies. At least his over-the-top and very American viewpoint will put most Europeans off. Just my 2 pence worth. Regards, Ian.
  16. Hello All. I haven't been on here much lately so please excuse the delay in my response. There are a few active pilots in the Kent area (and Sheppey in particular!) as mentioned in several previous posts. We are always happy to chat and help in any way that we can. The more local pilots the better!!! If you wanted to get in touch by PM then I will gladly reply with my contact details so that we can chat about local instructors, flying sites and equipment suppliers. Best regards, Ian.
  17. Would you want to eat here??? At least you get an idea of what's on the menu. Lol! In Noth London.
  18. Hi Mark! You've definately come to the right place in the paramotor club for helpful advice. Everyone is an enthusiast and keen to help. As Mike said, it was probably my instructor Andy and either myself or one of his other students as we fly over the Isle of Sheppey all the time. I understand that Mike has given you Andys details which is a great place to start and I highly recommend you have a chat with him and come along to the field. Hopefully see you in the air soon! Best regards, Ian.
  19. Cheers! Have clicked like on your Aus facebook page and spammed it as a suggestion to everyone I know! Also put a link to the PMC forum on my ebay listing just in case anyone thinks of bidding without knowing what it's all about. Thanks, Ian.
  20. Hello All I hope this doesn't violate any rules but I've been on here a while and am in the process of selling my red Parajet Volution Compact on eBay so thought I'd let you all know where to find it! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250721848979 Will be looking for a brand new replacement in the spring when I've sold and fitted some more car batteries to pay for it! Thanks, Ian.
  21. .....but are you ground handling the wing at full fast trim? If you are ground handling at a slower trim setting then the reflex will not be deflecting the trailing edge so high and so you will have more slack than the manufacturers recommend. Ian.

    electrical charging.

How about a cup holder to hold a nice mug of tea? That would be quite civilised! Ian.

    Xmas doo

Has been great for the last couple of years. Please put me down for 2 tickets for Sally and myself. Cheers, Ian.
  24. Great vid! I loved the music which made me chuckle. Was particularly impressed that you managed to get the change of tempo to coincide with the change of trim. Really reflects how you feel as you relax into the flight! Ian.
  25. All of our students know the answer to that question. SW I believe the answer is 'several times' Lol!
