  1. Hi Everyone Thank you ever so much for your replies and I feel more confidant in my choices for both my wing and engine. Hi Fly-Mow, I live in North Kent so I over look your fine County of Essex and the crossing is about 1/2 hour drive for me. I see some trips to Essex on my flying "to do" list soon. I hope to get airbourne soon and weather permitting this should be next month or possibly August. Speak soon Regards Popgeddy
  2. Hi Guys Forgot to add to my last post a question about eqpt. I am in the market for a L/XL helmet and a flying suit to fit me (6' 1" and XL). I dont mind 2nd hand in good condition or new and reasonably priced. Thanks! Regards Popgeddy
  3. Hi Everyone I am hopefully finishing my ground handling soon and moving to flight and wanted to find out where those who fly in Kent (and nearby) congregate and fly from. I would like to meet up with and of course fly with fellow aviation petrol heads and hopefully learn from and progress my own flying skills as well as share my time with like minded people. I have a FB Monster coupled with a Dudek LT Synth 34 and weigh in at a lithe 103 kilo, lol (or 16st 3lb in old money). is this a good combo or should I think about trading up or down, answers on a postcard I have been away from the site for a while and want to say a big thank you in advance for any answers or replies. All the best Popgeddy
  4. Hi Vinnie I hope you know who this is and wanted to say hello online and on here Appreciated the call this morning and its good to hear of such a thriving Paramotoring scene in Kent and close by. Looking forward to seeing you flying beside me amongst the clouds and birds very soon. I cant wait until September and October so lets get scooting Speak soon my friend, speak soon!!!!! Popgeddy
  5. Hi Guys Thank you all very much for your tips, advice and guidance on my first steps into PPG. I have spoken to Simon and discovered a school with motors and wings big enough to get me airbourne and trained. I have got some more thinking to do about what kit to buy once I have completed my training. I cant wait to get airbourne and join in with this new and exciting sport. Can anyone tell me if there are any shows or conventions within the UK that has Motor Paragliding manufacturers? I would like to meet up with some like minded people to talk to and find out more. Thank you Mark
  6. Hi Everyone I am waiting for the weather to turn and start my new adventure in the skies. I am however in a dilemma about buying kit new, second hand or going to a school with loan equipment. The problem I have with loan quipment is the small fact of still being built like a rugby player (I stopped playing many years ago but I still maintain the size and weight of a second row) and top the scales at 105kg. Some of the schools I have spoken to go quiet when I mention this and say that I will have to bring my own equipment as they dont have motors or wings to hold my weight in stock . I am reluctant to buy new equipment for my training as I know in my heart of hearts that I really want to fly the way you guys and girls do, but what if I am simply not good enough to continue, despite my enthusiasm. I could have a very expensive set of equipment to sell and lose some hard earned cash on re-sale. I would really appreciate some guidance on this subject and would like to know what your advice is for the following questions: 1. If I was to go 2nd hand what websites would you recommend? 2. If I was to buy second hand is there a place/company that could check out the motor/wing (I would of course expect to pay for this service)? 3. Is there a school/club that sell and service motors and wings and give a warranty for the goods sold? 4. I have been looking at manufacturers websites and the motor and wing I am looking at after a little advice is the Fresh Breeze Simonini and the Synthesis 32 or 34. This is the route I was thinking of taking should I take the new set up way, is that a good combo for me? Thank you for taking you time to read this posting and looking forward to hearing from you. Regards Mark
  7. Hi Tim I live on the Isle of Sheppey and there are two of us here who are very interested in Paragliding and PPG. I am in the process of finding out who to train with to get me up there so it is great to hear of another local (ish) person who shares our interest. Please send me a private message and I will give you my contact details and I would appreciate if you could give me some pointers. I have met some great people through this site already and they are really keen to help others into this brilliant pursuit. Speak soon. Mark
  8. Hi Everyone A question from newbie so forgive my ignorance. Is there such a thing as a wing that is suitable for both paragliding and PPG. I would like to follow both pursuits and want to know if I need to invest in one or two wings. Thank you! Mark
  9. Hi Simon/Mike Thank you both. No its not too far Simon but I will try to find out if there are any trainers local as well, what with the price of fuel and that. Mike, I have replied to your private message and thank you too. I am getting excited with the prospect of flying like you guys and feeling the wind in my face. It must be a real blast. Many Regards Mark
  10. Hi Everyone! I am hoping to find out more about Paramotorgliding ever since I saw two powered paragliders chaps landing on a field next to the Lower Road on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent. I have wondered what its all about since and researched it over the winter period. I would love to give it a go and see if it is for me. Can anyone please give me any advice in starting off in this sport and where to go to learn. I live and work in Kent and will soon have some time on my hands (voluntary redundancy) and a bit of disposable cash to pay for my potential new past time. Looking forward to speaking to you Mark
