  1. I managed to get up this afternoon, yay! T'was a bit cold later in the afternoon though.
  2. I'm in the none of the above. I went up in a couple of microlights, a 3 axis and a delta, as my mate had a licence. I thought I want some of this but didn't like the cost. Did some research and found PPG, first started training in 2000 then life got in the way, flying full time since 2008.
  3. 'Teach', not learn your buddies. Get something right from the start. Good luck if you do.
  4. I did have both fitted briefly with the stirrup hanging below the speedbar in its parked position. Not ideal and harness adjustment removed the need for the stirrup.
  5. Glad you made the journey safely Andy, best open something strong and relax after a journey like that.
  6. Best way to be, can't have you looking ruff !
  7. I started on a Trekking paraglider and flew for 30 hours before moving onto a more modern reflex wing. The Trekking was like a truck in comparison. The Epsilon is suitable for tow or winch launch, whether that makes it more suitable for power I don't know, maybe others do. The manual is available here http://para2000.org/wings/manuals/advance-epsilon3.pdf
  8. I like your title much better Simon. 'Stalled plane', no - stalled engine. 'Re-starts in mid air', no - restarted on the ground. ..and what's that rock rolling crap at the end?
  9. Great for the weather in Spain Andy, but .........
  10. CUSTOM PARAMOTOR 'GARAGE' As there was no separate garage in the motorhome and securing the motor inside the toilet/shower room effectively put the toilet out of action, an alternate plan was hatched. Hence a custom external 'garage' that houses the motor, harness and even a 5 litre fuel container. First use will be down to the borechasers fly in, yay!
  11. Personally I would tie down to both for extra piece of mind.
  12. Lovely, very jealous. I can think of worse places to break down.
  13. Very interesting project bootstrap. You really need to speak to Gilo at Parajet as he was one of the pilots on the Everest paramotor challenge. Best of luck with it.
  14. Absolutely Andy, once you have mastered it it can appear very easy.
  15. Tragic and idiotic at the same time. Makes you wonder if he had done any/enough ground handling first.
  16. The climb rate is primarily dependent on the wing you are using, extra thrust will increase the angle of attack which will not necessarily be best climb angle.
  17. Don't bother with Bailey for the oil filter, it's a HF116, like this one https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/187442?r=GS&gclid=Cj0KCQiA-ebSBRC8ARIsAGuxJIpg9VxjbZ_DtCsy4hNCDqb1sXYFjE0kh30xDbx8Xom-04K0ShQep_0aAqWmEALw_wcB I use these on my V5, I bought a pack of 4 some time ago, the price has come down since then, gotta be good.
  18. Great to hear of excellent service, seems we are generally well blessed with UK manufacturers/dealers.
  19. You will have to find an instructor as PPG is within the umbrella of microlight (ULM in French), so you have to obtain a ULM-paramoteur class license. Only an instructor can put you forward for your license, once you are proficient practically, plus you have to pass the ULM examination. Fortunately it is multiple choice with a pass rate set at 75%. There are previous exam papers on line that you can swot up with, highly recommended. If you french is good visit the FFPLUM website, that is the microlight body for France. You also need to register your kit with DGAC (French CAA equivalent), then once registered apply your registration numbers/letters to your wing. From memory it cost €40 for the registration and €75 for the license, amounts may have changed now.
  20. Oh yes; it came back with a 'very good' report plus 21/300 score for porosity, so it's all rather annoying.
  21. Yes I'm not too chuffed. Have contacted Border Force by e-mail and had an automated response saying they will respond within 20 working days. What can one say?
  22. So I send a wing for inspection and get back a faulty wing thanks to some knob head in Border Force . Parcel arrives with 'Home Office Border Force' across the top, so I know it has been inspected on it's way back into the country. Guess what? A slit through the protective cardboard sheet on top and also a slit in the stuff sack and wing top surface. F'ing great, not.
  23. Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous 2018, hoping for lots of good weather, enjoyable and safe flying See you at the fly-ins .....................
  24. I've very recently bought the Alcatel A3 XL smartphone, it has all the 4G and GPS capability and runs RunwayHD well. It has a 6 inch screen.
