  1. You know me too well Geoff! Some of it is for Christmas, specifically requested by friends. Oh and it DID make the steering slightly lighter...
  2. I usually joke to non PPGers that the box fitted to the back of the camper van is the beer safe/fridge. It was fitted for carrying the motor securely, until yesterday/today .... Perfect!
  3. The Report'Air 24 is more lifty than the ReAction 29 if that helps.
  4. I moved from the ReAction 29 to a Report'Air 24. I like it a lot but it does suffer with the slightly sluggish Dudek inflation characteristic. I am basing this on the fact that you need a good breeze to reverse launch, same as with the ReAction whereas from what I have read some of the newer wings inflate really easily. I haven't tried any other wings myself. All up I am around 125kg. My ReAction has 318 hours on it and the value is only what someone is willing to pay for it, which I think is next to nothing as pilots want newer wings with greater speed, for one.

I'll put your name on them [VIKING1000], cheers.

I have three folding camper chairs, similar to this one, that are surplus to requirements. FREE to PMC members. If I bring them to the Coast Run does anyone want them? I cannot take them back with me as I have onward travel.
  7. There are a number of interesting places that are English Heritage sites, there are 3 sites that are all within 3 1/2 miles of the fly-in. https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/trethevy-quoit/ There is also Restormel Castle that is south of Bodmin, about 11 1/2 miles from the fly-in. https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/restormel-castle/ There is Bodmin and Wenford railway just to the east of Bodmin if you like steam trains. https://bodminrailway.co.uk/the-railway/
  8. Oh not many land out options there Andy.
  9. Good luck with that, I'll post a longer answer later. You'll need an airband license to use an airband radio.
  10. I've been doing this a long time, here's my take for what it's worth. I started my training under the BMAA syllabus, so it was essentially derived from the microlight syllabus but with differentiation to suit a paraglider type wing environment. I wasn't interested in learning to paraglide, I just wanted motorised flight so it suited me fine. If you want to just fly PPG then got to a trainer that offers direct PPG training, such as Paramotor Training (here), CMParamotors or UKPPG.
  11. All the A's, as in hold the riser (webbing) part.
  12. 'A couple of weeks between flights' is all too common, I'm retired but sometimes the weather just doesn't play ball. It's great to read of your continuing evolution into an experienced pilot, I can choose to fly anytime but don't always fly when the conditions are good as other things are happening. Getting a balance is great and I would rather be extending my flying till I'm no longer capable than getting every last flight in the log. Enjoy!
  13. The flywheel is nothing like the one shown. It is aluminium with fins to give forced air cooling via the cylinder shroud. One of the common faults is the thin spade connector on the CDi that is the output to the ignition coil. This has approx 200V pulses on it and unless it is tight with its mating female connector it can develop micro spark erosion. Always make sure this pin is particularly tight when mated.
  14. I replaced my original failed stator recently. My guess is that Bailey just cut off the redundant power coils as a weight saver.
  15. Hi Steve, I would love to offer you use of the field but the landowner would rather keep a low profile as the field is used for other activities occasionally, so has restricted PPG to just me, sorry. GeoffW and I fly some times from a farm near Bridgenorth, another pilot there would be no problem.
  16. Hi Barry, there is plenty of kit for the larger pilot and coming on this site is a very good move as most kit for sale on here is of known provenance. Another very respected source of 2nd hand kit is CMParamotors, http://www.cmparamotors.com/ However the advice above is very wise. Get some training and you will understand a lot more about what is needed and whether it is a sport you want to pursue. There is quite a lot to learn to become a safe and proficient pilot. Good luck in your endeavours.
  17. That's wrong Andy, given a constant load resistance.
  18. Well yes that's the way it's done. i agree some can look 'under engineered' but weight has to be taken into account as well for a backpack.
  19. That was a pretty big collapse and I'm in the dark as to why exactly it happened. Anyone know what type of wing it was, reflex or not? I'm guessing the air was pretty unstable, it looked it from the previous minutes footage. So too much thermic activity at the time to be flying (safely)? I have never even had a tip tuck but then I fly a reflex wing in calmish conditions. Thoughts anyone?
  20. 'Still loving it'. That goes without saying, I am still loving it after 526 flights
  21. Good times, you will nail them eventually. When coming in to land prepare yourself mentally to run a few steps.
