  1. That's fantastic that you got the flights in. Great that you are now a PPG pilot I got two epic flights in with my flying buddy but now will have to wait many days for the weather to play ball again, same for all of us unfortunately. Love the look of your camper trailer, keep us informed of your excursions.
  2. That always the case if there is a bet in the background
  3. cinereus I recommend you download EasyVFR onto a phone that has GPS capability, the basic version is free. It shows airspace with all the restricted areas, plus ground speed, bearing and gps altitude relative to the QNH. I have mine running on an old phone without a SIM card, perhaps you have an old phone that is suitable? I also fly with an altimeter that shows true height (above ground)/altitude with the current QNH/climb or descent rate. It also records flight time that I enter in my log. This is a suitable modern compact altimeter https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Micro-Alti-Alti-meter-Vario-G-Meter-Paramotor-PPG-Paragliding-Trike-Gliding/233055951627?hash=item3643379b0b:g:W-AAAOSwHaBWks63
  4. Yes the last number is the diameter of the circle that the bolt holes are positioned on.
  5. PB = Lead, as in Lead acid battery.
  6. The 500 foot rule in the UK is this: 'Except with the permission in writing of the CAA, an aircraft shall not be flown closer than 500 feet to any person, vessel, vehicle or structure.' This is a distance not a minimum height, so you can fly below 500 feet providing you are 500 feet away from 'any person, vessel, vehicle or structure.' As I understand it (or interpret, possibly) a road isn't classed as a structure but a bridge (for instance) is.
  7. That's actually what I do as well, though haven't flown with a camera in a while.
  8. My guess is most probably use their dominant hand. I have right handed and tried it left handed for a while. Probably should have kept left for longer to get better used to it but it didn't seem as natural. Some go for left handed to free the right for camera work as cameras seem to be built for right handed use. Others probably so they can play with their phones during flight. Can't see any adverse safety considerations, go with what you are comfortable with.
  9. Good one Rich for getting one in.
  10. Has everyone got new phones or camera's? Or has everyone suddenly gone all vain?
  11. Hi Mathew, you quoted simonini mini plus 2, 130 cm pign 55. The engine is a Simonini mini plus 2 which has a reduction ratio of 2.42 or 2.62 (info taken from propeller supplier) The reduction is a ratio between the small and large pulley that the belt is on. Measure the diameter of both pulleys and the ratio should be either 2.42 or 2.62 (you will probably be slightly out with the calc as I think the exact ratio is taken from the bottom of the pulley grooves, but you should be able to identify which is yours). 130cm is the diameter of the prop, I think the 55 is the diameter that the prop mounting holes are on in mm.
  12. I would say they should at least contact all dealers, you would have thought they would have a group email that could be sent.
  13. First class advice in my book. Been caught out with desperation and it's not worth it. Another thing if you are going off line is not to over correct. When the wing is up it doesn't need a ton of correction, it essentially wants to fly straight.
  14. If they are stainless parts (?) they are incredibly strong. If like me you are never going to do high 'g' manoeuvers then put it to the back of your mind. You could put a wire through the pin in the top picture to ensure it never comes unscrewed.
  15. 'for a day I recon'. More like 3 by the sounds of it.
  16. EOS 150 with WB37 carb Just to get any relevant experience from other owners Stephen has told me this is what he has. .
  17. Looks like all functions are referenced to the Ground connection so should be doable. I'm guessing you need the 9&10 switches set for ring. Have you included the 10uF capacitor in series with the mic connection? Try it with whatever value cap you have to see if it is necessary.
  18. I have noticed that the more modern radios now use separate wires/connections for Mic and PTT. Earlier configurations combined the Mic/PTT function and there was an extended period where there was a 'standard' of sorts for the connections. Unfortunately the radio manufacturers now 'mix things up' with different connections on the dual or single multi contact plugs. It's a bit of a nightmare. You confuse me by saying 'by cutting the Baofeng SOCKET from a baofeng headset', I would have though the headset would have a type of PLUG on it?
  19. The V5 quick release is 10mm, so assume it's the same.
  20. A couple of videos from the weekend. With the landing the wind was blowing towards the trees so a bit of tree hugging was needed. Cornwall landing.mp4 The takeoff includes warming the engine before the off. Cornwall takeoff.mp4
  21. I haven't but thought perhaps a choice might get more replies. Good luck.
  22. Had to google the seed. Will any mini-wing do?
  23. 3. I've used Silkolene to good effect.
