  1. NB: These are not my own video clips. They are just some of my favourites found whilst doing my newbie research into PPG. Well considering the recent less than ideal weather over here in the UK lately, I thought that the following 10 minute video clip might serve as a timely distraction. Perfect flying condition, some lovely autumn colours and great views over the beautiful Auvergne region of France. I particularly like the lake area (~6mins)... 2. Woman (and here comes Dave with his Boobies again) Andy
  3. Yikes - be sure to wear heated thermals Dan !Also hope your camera gear works at those temperatures... Andy
  4. Cheers Alan - great that the video is now on YouTube, as prevoiusly had only seen it embedded in the Parajet website. Video is also useful to help understand why Paramotors are typically so expensive, due to the amount of handmade work involved - compared to other mass production two strokes... Andy
  5. Breaking news.... Tesco to start selling iPhones ! Hopefully this will finally introduce some proper competition Check out the Tesco iPhone website Andy
  6. Great clip Dave ! Having done fair bit of 3D rendering in the past, someone has put a hell of a lot of work into that animation Very nicely done - one to bookmark. Andy
  7. You certainly have some good natured farmers near you Alan.Having said that did notice after slightly adjusting photo contrast, that the current users have rather sharp things growing out of their heads... Andy
  8. Absolute riot Dave Can't believe that this is not staged? If not, what a total d#ck - almost makes Mr Bean look sophisticated ! Love the snake dropping on him (2m 10sec)) Andy
  9. NB: These are not my own video clips. They are just some of my favourites found whilst doing my newbie research into PPG. Have unfortunately been too busy to get onto the forum at all this week, but had to at least post one video This clip demonstrates some impressive controlled flying to recover a windsock jammed in Pascal Campbell-Jones risers by one of his Paramania colleagues. 10. Hi Mark - Great to hear that you can still make the most of the relentless wind, but hope you guys are not attempting any such stunts as this: Two kite surfers jump over UK pier (video) Hope to see you both up at the Flagpole before too long... Andy

    Netbooks

Agree with Ian and Craig - that Samsung NC10 is a great current option, having won a number of PC industry awards and topped a load of Netbook reviews. But not sure whether it is still widely available (following launch of more expensive NC20), or whether you can now get it with Win7 (rather than with Vista). Andy
  12. Phil - my Dad had a life changing double hip op last year. It was amazing how quickly he recovered from it, and he is over 80.So hopefully you will similarly be back on your feet sooner than expected, with a new spring in your step (and into the sky).... Andy

    Netbooks

Pete - it all depends on how urgently you need a NetBook. If you can hold off for a couple of months, the Netbook market is about to diverge significantly. At the budget end, the price of Netbooks are about to drop significantly with the introduction of the Tegra-powered units. At the higher end, more powerful units are just coming onto market with similar form factor - such as the amazing Nokia 3G Booklet : [ Further info added below] Internet Access - YES Wi fi - YES usb modem to my Blackberry. - YES, But will you still want your Blackberry? Good battery life (min 4-5hours) - 12 HOURS !!! 7-10 inch screen max - 10.1" (1280 x 720 px) Display ext monitor (if possible) - HDMI To Run Software - Anything that runs on Windows 7 gps probably via usb stick - GPS Built in ! PLUS - Acceleromator Built in Check out the promo videos on the link page above - which gives some idea of just how this new generation of NetBooks is streets ahead of predecessors. There again, last generation NetBooks will be cheaper if that better suits your needs. Andy
  14. According to Paramania website you should be looking at a 21 or 24m2 wing.Check out : Paramania Revolution - Tech Details I'm sure that Simon or one of the other senior members will add comments on whether better to higher load the smaller wing, or be mid load for the larger one. Andy
  15. A nice practical solution Alan. I always prefer KISS approach... That was the place - remember hours of childhood fun trying to sink each others kayaks. Told you it was a long time ago Great quote Norman.Andy
  16. There might be a number of cheaper iPhones making their way onto eBay soon: Largest iPhone Heist to Date Not often Belgium gets mentioned in the tech news... Andy
  17. Great post Alan ! Obviously sorry to hear that you came up a bit short on your latest trip, but it sounds like it actually enhanced the adventure. Silly question - but how do you monitor your fuel level? Some sort of meter, mirror arrangement or the wriggle around and look technique? But nice to hear another case of a farmer being so helpful. Did you manage to take a camera up with you, and get some autumnal shots along the Creuse ? Also wondering whether you ever get to fly along the Creuse the other way, as many years ago I stayed near Chambon. The aerial views of the river south of Gargilesse must be great as the river winds its way down to the big dam and huge lake behind. Andy

If you are terra firma bound this weekend, and facing hours of raking leaves on your lawn - here is a light hearted video of another use for your motor... gx200

Great news Jock.So look forward to crossing my fingers and toes for you again soon then Andy
  20. I am in exactly the same boat as you Tony. I love my work supplied Blackberry for emails and text, but realise that I am missing out on the the whole iPhone experience - around the app library. Just wish the cost of ownership wasn't at such a premium. Having said that, my well battered iPod is nearing the end of its life, so when that finally gives up the ghost justifying the iPhone will be somewhat easier Andy
  21. Why - roughly how much is the cheapest production four stroke on the market at present ?Andy
  22. Nice job AlanAnd have you fur lined them to keep your ears cozy Andy
  23. You are right Simon. But had hoped that this would introduce some level of competition (free market economy and all that). However reports are that pricing structure will be almost identical But hope to be proved wrong on this... Andy
  24. Thanks for posting that great video clip. You might have seen that one of my earliest favourite clips in this thread was from the same event back in 2006 : Flying downtown in Daejeon, but your posting from this years meeting is far better and of much higher quality. Daejeon certainly looks like a wild place to fly - where airspace rules are completely ignored ! The sample clip was really well put together. I particularly liked: 2m00sec - flight under the bridges 3m15sec - flying around the Swarovski-looking pyramid 3m20sec - formation flying along the highway 4m10sec - flying over the monorail track, as if on a Maglev train Just me, but not so keen on: 2m20sec - dive bombing pedestrians 2m30sec - target landing s*removed by admin* 3m50sec - close encounters of the hot air balloon kind Anyway do please post any further clips you come across ! Meanwhile I noticed that Pascal Campbell-Jones won the competition in Korea, having also placed 2nd at this years UK behind Michel Carnet. Can we assume that he is related to Mike Campbell-Jones, designer and founder of Paramania Gliders? Cheers, Andy
  25. I thought the same TJ - but of course not in those winds Couldn't believe the height they were being pulled skyward... Andy
