  1. Simon - totally understand your dilemma, and for what it is worth I think your openess and honesty about it does you great credit !However bottom line: this site is not a democracy, it is your business. The point of having Moderators and Administrators is to ensure that the general rules and principles of the forums are adhered to. Should any of you feel that something has crossed that line, then it is your call to invoke the term of use and pull that post. 99% of folks will respect that right, even if individually some won't always agree on specific topics. Not sure if the following helps but you did ask - few suggestions: 1) Ask forum members with gripes to simply highlight their concerns in a post that is linked to their full rant on of the many legally moderated consumer complaints forums. 2) Search web for similar forum sites, to see how they deal with such issues and adopt whichever policy appears most appropriate. You could even get members to vote on this choice - if you prefer to be as democratic as possible. 3) Continue as you are, but spend some £'s to get legal advice to strengthen your forum useage policy. Forum Rules (Sample) Registration to this forum is free! But we do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. 2. Nope afraid not - don't get paid overtime, but did get an unhappy wife - as I couldn't make it home for her birthday ! Anyway I have the day off tomorrow to make it up to her, but am sure she won't want to spend it standing in a field in Lambourn Get well. Andy
  3. Hi Alan - really sorry to hear that you are under the weather. Certainly hope it is nothing pig related After a couple of nightmare weeks of work deadlines (140hrs last week ), I had hoped to take the day off to do some training. But probably best that I just use it to catch up on recent sleep deprivation. Anyway hope you are soon back on your feet, and more importantly back into the skies.. Andy
  4. Just in case you don't normally follow the video section of the forum - you might like to check out the following : Videos of the Week: 'Official' PPG World Altitude Record Andy
  5. NB: These are not my own video clips. They are just some of my favourites found whilst doing my newbie research into PPG. Many of you will know that Ramon Morillas has been based in Northern Pakistan recently, where he has set a number of 'official' PPG altitude world records. This video covers the two highest flights, including reaching the peak of Masherbrum (also known as K1) at 7,821m ! Obviously way short of Bear Grylls 'unofficial' record of 8,990m (29,494ft), but this shows some great video of the 3hr+ climb and the stunning views over the peak in perfect weather conditions. NB. Skip from 2m to 3m45s if you want to skip all the chat on the ground... (As always right click on video to view YouTube in larger wide format & HQ) [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]Andy
  6. Would have put money on you choosing that one Simon - after seeing the review : Andy
  7. Sorry to hear about your screen, but good to know that it is not too expensive to replace.Anyway this may give you some ideas on a good case: Best iPhone Cases Obviously ignore the pink one Andy
  8. According to Contours own comparison Tech Spec page, the Contour HD max memory is 16GB vs the GoPro HD max of 32GB.But on the upside, the Contour comes with 2GB, whereas the GoPro provides no memory... Andy
  9. Thanks for sharing your latest journey Alan. Sounds like a perfect day - especially finishing it off with a nice drop of English beer. Fantastic weather, and great pictures in the afternoon sunlight - especially the shimmering lake. With regards to the Chateau photo, have you tried using less zoom (to reduce shake) then crop the photo more heavily ? Andy
  10. Sorry to hear about the hiccup today Jock.Better luck with the dk frame Andy
  11. But I am sure your flight will last longer than their 12 seconds !
  12. Good luck with the maiden flight tomorrow Jock - will be keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed that it proves as rewarding as you deserve. Also hope that there is someone there to video it for posterity. Andy
  13. That is surprisingly good resolution and colour saturation for what is primarily a compact still camera. Thanks for sharing, Andy
  14. Cracking video Gary ! Beautiful area - whereabouts were you flying ? Especially liked the clips along the deserted beach. Thanks for sharing, and look forward to your next upload. Andy
  15. Great first attempt though. But was always going to be a challenge from that viewpoint with a bright sky as background. As with any camera, practice makes perfect, and probably just needs you to play around taking clips from other viewpoints and angles. Anyway do please keep sharing your adventures on video, as provides inspiration for us newbies - still firmly rooted to the ground ! Andy
  16. Hi JonoIf you already have the Dakota, suggest you download the Memory Map trial software and try the following suggested workaround : GarminDakota Wiki : Memory Map Any problems contact user GPSFix, listed in the thread. Alternatively if you have are thinking of buying the Dakota, and already have Memory Map - there are some more compatible models on the market. Andy
  17. Classic Dan ! or as Rabbie B said more eloquently "the best laid plans of mice and men..." Thanks for the great link ! Andy
  18. Hi Simon - I have just bought a ticket to support the cause, BUT unfortunately will not be able to make it for family reasons. Sad to say, that will be the second flyin I will have missed - but please be sure to get plenty of video footage this time e.g. flying, fireworks, alpacas etc. Andy
  19. Cheers Pete - that is another great video. Three reasons I really like it : 1) It is shot and put together in a very different way than any other PPG video I have seen ! 2) That smart arse picking up the blue ball - showing off or what 3) Great to see a couple of young kids flying tandem with their Dads Andy
  20. Thanks Pete - that is an awesome video. But that talented 17yr old kid - makes me feel oldddddd !!! Andy
  21. NB: These are not my own video clips. They are just some of my favourites found whilst doing my newbie research into PPG. For those of you grounded this weekend - some more possible future 'Tip to Tip' locations to dream of... Beautiful flight footage from Madagascar and the Seychelles. More information available here : Ch4 Daredevils - SkyCare Andy
  24. Great Whitters, really look forward to seeing how the plans develop. Then I can be even more with envy of you all ! Andy
  25. NB: These are not my own video clips. They are just some of my favourites found whilst doing my newbie research into PPG. 'Flight into the Maize' - some crazily accurate low level flight footage. Watch from 1m30s for all you wanabee Luke Skywalker's that have ever dreamt of blowing up the Death Star...
