  1. Tut tut Dan But do still post the vimeo link for the Tunisia video here anyway... Alternatively you could email Patrick and ask him if he minds you adding his clip to YouTube. As I have been pleasantly surprised by how positive folks are about getting their video clips to a wider audience. Andy
  2. Tough choice bignos - as both good cameras that have won group reviews (see links below). Have added +ve's and -ve's to some key features: Review group winner (Premium Compacts): Fuji F100fd + 12 effective Megapixels - 28-140mm equiv lens with 5x optical zoom and 8.2x digital zoom - 2.7 inch LCD with 230,000 dot resolution = Dual Image Stabilizer + ISO sensitivity up to 12800 ? 6 shooting modes, 14 Scene Modes including Dual Shot Mode. + Street price ~£190 (But availability ? as replaced by F200) Review group winner (Compact SuperZooms): Panasonic TZ-7 - 10.1 effective Megapixels + 25-300mm equiv lens with 12x optical zoom and up to 85.6x Extra Optical Zoom + 720p HD video (AVCHD Lite), 60 fps + 3.0-inch LCD with 460,000 dots resolution = Optical Image Stabilizer - ISO sensitivity up to 1600 (up to 6400 in Auto ISO) ? 27 scene modes and Intelligent Auto Mode with scene selector - Street price ~£240 IMHO bottom line: If prefer larger zoom and better video - Go Panasonic If need low light, low price and higher mp - Go Fuji If it was my money I would probably look for a cheap Fuji on eBay (as older superceded model) But either way I think you will be surprised how good both cameras are. Anyway hope this is of some help Andy
  3. Thanks Alan - another great video, showing wing control from some interesting angles. Did look a bit nippy though So must ask, how did he get the front and rear projections? Probably used a pole for the front? But can't for the life of me figure out the rear view - without risking catching the prop somehow. Any clues...? Anyway keep them coming... Cheers, Andy
  4. Thanks Dan - that is a great video !Were you involved in it at all? Only ask as I was wondering where the various locations were? I also loved the bird of prey landing on the pilot mid flight (~2m50s) - that must be an amazing sensation Cheers, and please keep posting Andy
  5. NB: These are not my own video clips. They are just some of my favourites found whilst doing my newbie research into PPG. Still on the beach - here is another favourite. Simply amazed at how in tune this guy is with his PPG Have seen clips of people touching poles at PPG Championships, but not landing on them. Awesome You will have to use this link: Jeff Goin showing amazing control..., as embedding appears to have been blocked for this clip. [youtubevideo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFrriEB5Jzo[/youtubevideo] Andy
  6. Dave - now you are starting to scare me mate You must be psychic or something, as that is the second time you have submitted the same clip I had lined up to post ! Now if you can do it a third time the beers are on me at the Fireworks fly-in - cos I need help choosing my lotto numbers ! Anyway I might as well post the paragraph I wrote Friday, but was holding back for later this week.... "NB: These are not my own video clips. They are just some of my favourites found whilst doing my newbie research into PPG. Well for another favourite we move from the desert to the sea. This is a beautifully crafted video from down under - with stunning quality clips of gorgeous empty beaches. Especially if you watch the HD version in wider format. Five friends enjoying a magic coastal Paramotor fly north of the Gold Coast Australia. Food for thought for the Tip to Tip Australia whenever it happens... Simply entitled 'PPG Paradise' - which says it all... Enjoy, Andy [youtubevideo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQKNvOkWXww[/youtubevideo]"
  7. Fortunately I have a very high speed broadband connection, so they download almost instantly. But yes I certainly spent a good few hours trawling the web for interesting clips when I first started researching PPG. But found it really interesting insight into the sport, and certainly more entertaining than wasting time watching the cr@p on TV Unfortunately some of us are still dreaming of that day Alan... Well I look forward to seeing them when you do...Cheers, Andy
  8. Sorry to hear that the weather was no good Cambodia. But even balloonists are known to get it wrong sometimes [youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]Andy
  9. Your probably right Poz.What was the background to the walkway anyway - was it blown up or just neglected ? Andy
  10. Hi bignos - I would be really interested to hear how straightforward you found this process, as I have come across a number of forums discussing some of the known problems with hacking the Navigo to load Memory-Maps eg. Navigo GPS Tips&Hacks: Installing Memory-Map v5.4 Thanks, Andy
  11. Calling Jock - this looks like your next project mate Andy
  12. Wow  More than a "smattering of insanity" needed dude - that is one extremely dodgy looking walkway ! It reminds me of the ancient pole pathways clinging to the cliffs of Mt Huashan, China Andy
  13. NB: These are not my own video clips. They are just some of my favourites found whilst doing my newbie research into PPG. Well here is another favourite - inspired by Simon's desert theme on his new Paramotor Holiday webpage (be sure to check it out ). This clip is of the amazing Palmyre Citadel Fort, rising out of the Syrian desert. Great quality video (especially if ), with best views on approach to fort from 2m50s onwards.[youtubevideo] [/youtubevideo]Enjoy Andy.
  14. Can you let us know which model Bignos, or give a link to a similar model? As at that price even I can start to play around with one (to augment my navigation studies Simon ) Andy
  15. Wow impressive ! A case of "here endeth the lesson" me thinks Andy
  16. Thanks Simon ! I have been comparing various GPS offerings that might be suitable for PPG. But this one certainly looks really interesting Here is a YouTube marketing clip: [youtubevideo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2D94DrqiGoU[/youtubevideo] And here is the link to the product website where you can download a PDF brochure: Memory Map Adventurer 2800 It will be interesting to see what the reviews make of : (1) satellite reception (2) screen refresh (3) battery life Which are key areas that have hampered similar OS based GPS products such as the Satmap Active 10... Andy
  17. Hi Dave - I had heard of a new addition to the FT range, but somehow had missed the video. Loved the video (except closeup ) - fantastic quality pictures that give a great sense of skimming so low over trees and water. Agree that this model doesn't look as if it was aimed at likes of us Dave Although spec mentions pilot weight up to 240lbs...? Did find the video header a bit confusing compared to tech specs on webite: Price: $7998 (vs $5700) Ceiling: 21,000ft (vs 10,000ft) Also what with the Jetpack and 100mph reference? Did you spot that the FT120 model is the only FT without an electric starter? Good to see them expanding their range, but I will keep saving my pennies for something with a bit more grunt... Cheers, Andy
  18. Congratulations Joe ! Great news to hear that your perseverance and patience has paid dividends. Which no doubt makes your first flight all the more sweet. I bet you must be walking around with a smile a mile wide All the best, and do keep posting your experiences - as you start to test your kit more. Andy P.S. Am now off to read your blog properly from start to finish....
  19. Thanks Simon - I wondered why my ranking tag had changed from 'Not Here Often' to 'Been Here A While'. Although in reality it has only been a few short weeks. So much still to learn, but a very exciting journey... and great people here to help Andy
  20. Well after two consecutive weekends with almost no breeze, it looks like we are in for 14-20mph winds on Saturday. Simon does that mean we are likely to be doing more theory than GH ? Andy
  21. Hi Andy, checkout http://www.electricppg.com/Developments ... /index.htm Cheers, Alan Thanks for the link Alan Wow - that is one minamalist paramotor ! But with no protective cage it is more of a Crazeebus than Razeebus ! Not for the faint hearted, but I suppose a sign of things to come as more electric offerings come to market. Exciting times.... Andy
  22. Nice pictures Alan - you certainly live in a lovely part of the world for flying Now that you have solved your Vista movie viewing problem - do you have any aerial video clips to share ? Andy
  23. ...Anyway I did leave an email with the guy who took it last week, asking for info on the kit he was using. I will let you know if I hear anything back. Cheers Andy Hi Mark - I promised to get back to you if I heard anything from the guy who shot the video (Gege Pouillot). Well he has confirmed that he is using the excellent Canon HV-30, twinned with a Schneider Optics fisheye lens Here are some related links: Trusted Reviews: Canon HV30 Video Fisheye Lens (0HD-FEWA-43) Gege also kindly sent me a link to his comparative video test - between standard, wide angle and the fisheye. Nice touch... New fisheye for Canon HV30 Hope that is of help, Andy
  24. Thanks Dave - having checked the house for more info, I discovered that it is actually up for sale - hence my New clubhouse? post. Andy
