Who agree? To me if feels like a big step that will erase the maintenance gap with four stroke engines, and also give us better performance and better fuel consumption while still having a superior power/weight ratio. I wonder how many years it will take before we see the same system on a paramotor specific engine.

Ground handling wing. Should i?

See the ground handling specific gliders as something marketed for instructors who have lots of students and want something that's extra easy and durable to kite for beginners. Some instructors will just use an older wing for this. What you really want for ground handling is a laminar light wind so you easily can inflate the wing and stand in one position most of the time. You don't kite the wing in nil wind, but you can practise "dry launch" just by running. However some wind is always to prefer to get a good understanding and to be able to play with the wing. Throughout your whole ppg/paragliding career you should and will always practise ground handling with the wing you intend to fly. There is more to it then just the basics that will make you a much better pilot, and it's also something that later will give you a feel of the behavior of a different wing. So learn to love it, even if it sucks in the absolute beginning when everything is difficult. You will see that advanced pilots practise this a lot and do all sorts of tricks. Watch on youtube to get inspired. About the wing, If your main goal is PPG, then get a PPG wing, it will still work for free flying with the trims closed. -

Soo, who needs a lighter paramotor? Nirvana have a new line coming up called F-light, where the lightest F-light 160 ultimate lands on only 16kg with harness. Weight saved on drilled cooling fins and cage on the lightest version. Another new detail is that you can have custom print on the harness. Looks like the paramotor equipment is getting more personalised every year. Also Coupe Icare started yesterday so maybe we will see more news the upcoming days. Well common sense will tell you when the wind is too strong for take off, but it all depends on the pilot's ability and equipment. Personally I don't like to fly backwards. And I'm not prepared to land backwards so I stay within my speed limit.

Hi, It's a challenge for almost everyone in the beginning with ppg. Just don't accept failure and you will be fine. If something doesn't fit, be prepared to modify it for your needs. I've seen custom wheelchairs for paragliding. Works just fine, there are many out there. So there is someway to learn for sure. There are so many alternatives available if you want to fly something fun. Think of PPGas maybe the most challenging. I think UL-trike might be easier. Or anything you can fly with a PPL. If you check aerobility.com you find a charity for disabled that wants to fly airplanes. Maybe it's time to introduce PPG for them? Give them a call. Because I definitly think PPG trike works for some. Anyway good luck and keep us updated. It would be very interesting to hear about training and progress. Maybe something more people would benefit from hearing. -
Bumpin this one. How is it? Hows the running? Will the cage be too close to the feets, or is it just better since engine gets closer and it's easier on the back? How comfortable is it? Good or bad for XC? Or just for fun flying.

Transponders that fit paramotors (~450g) are expensive, but maybe ADS-B will be much cheaper in a couple of years so we can add them and be more visible. Would be great to be able to fly in more restriced air space. -
Yeah apart from the plug. I have a steel wire around mine so it won't come lose from the plug.

Yes, like you said, it only works if the idle is set correct, like for a paramotor with centrifugal clutch. If not, then it will rev up instantly. Don't do it!

I have a portable airband radio with me since I fly a lot with other airplanes and launch from an airfield, I don't have the license to send on it yet (working on it right now) but I listen to the traffic so I'm aware what the others are doing. To avoid any mistakes right now I also locked it with a PTT-LOCK feature that Yaesu have on their models, so it's even legal. I also have the Sena 10R on my helmet for mobile phone/MC intercom. There is a gadget that allow you to connect it to a 2M radio, and with some soldering it should also be possible to connect it to an airband radio so you have everything on bluetooth. the Sena should also be able to jump over to 4G if you leave the intercom range with an app called RideConnected

So would an engine like the Moki 400cc 5 cylinder radial engine work? it's about 23hp and weight 9,2 kg. Since it have low rpm and high torque it should work as direct drive. Or even better, the VM R5-420, 5 cylinder from Valach that have 25hp and weighs just 11,8 kg (without exhaust, many options there). Recommended propeller diameter for RC are up to 106cm for the wooden propellers. I'm almost sure a nice lightweight carbon propeller with a slightly bigger diameter would fit. Biggest problem would be cooling as I see it, and maintance. Fuel economy is actually very good according to some websites (better than our 2strokes). Ofc it's not an optimal engine for ppg, but I would love to show up with radial engine on my back, and the sound is magic!

AndyB just wow... How the hell did you get the idea to fly ppg with a back like that? Can't imagine how a hard landing would feel... I always hear the excuse "I can't start with paramotor because I have back pain already". You are definitely an exception.
