Yes, a joke
Yes, but more with a slight personal moan. Just before I left the army, civilians where escorted around the camp – then they took over the messes, cook house, more administrate roles and now even guard the barracks.
Moan finished
I did all my training in the UK then done a paragliding course with FlySpain.
Reason why I done a PG course was to catch as many thermals (under instruction) as I could which opens up a wider window for me in the UK. Also they go through most of the collapses with you, which give you even more confidents.
FlySpain, are very good, but I personally don't think it all sinks in when doing a intense course than it does over a period of a few months. By the time you get your first flight in the UK you don't worry about the ground-handling bit and concentrate on flying. It is not like learning in 1-2 days and then move onto the motor.
Paragliding with FlySpain was a good crack though.

There is only three active pilots at the moment and non are instructor level I'm afraid, but an excellant place to do ground handling, because it is an disused airfield and the sea is only 6 minutes away - so most days you get the laminate breeze coming through.

I fly at Davidstow with two guys who was also trained with Phippsy and they rate him pretty high too. Never met the guy to be honest so not sure how old he is. Shame, because it seems like he was the only guy teaching this end of the world.
Seems like a good job for someone!!!
Cianpars - Bristol is not far away from the Cornwall North Coast 'Tintagel / Padstow' area. Spend the day in Cornwall, have a eveing flight and then have a late drive home - no problems.
How about having a non-bore chasing weekend when the weather changes.
Guys - it's only a wave - you can come to Cornwall and watch a wave every two seconds.
Trike Newbie question. Apart from electric start motors.
I presume you have to pull start the motor on the ground (Yes obvious), but is there a good procedure to follow?
I made a upside down 'V' shape from wood on top. So my V3 frame just slids into. Also stopped it moving sidewards.
Had it well over 5 years now and works a treat for short journeys.
Also lowered the numberplate, because when you load your motor onto it - it kept catching the top of the number plate.
Must say that my new V3 with the Moster plus had a faulty coil within 5 flights. I swapped it and since then - had no problems.
I just put it down to a duff part, had a new one sent within 48 hrs
All correspondences done by email, because they said I would be able to replace the part myself – scary ?
