  1. I thought my GoPro was a bit heavy, but that looks even heavier. Be careful out there! Mike
  2. There are some reports of a reserve helping at 100ft. Even if it slows you down 5 mph thats better than no slow down. Who said 1500ft? That seems very high. Maybe a parachute, which is a slow open. But a reserve is a fast open. I was told ideally 500 feet but they can help much lower than that. Could the experts out there expand on this? Cheers Mike
  3. Hi Dave. I used my gopro hd. But I was aware it seemed heavy. So mount it half way from leading edge toward trailing edge, so as not to invite a frontal collapse. I used the mounting plate that comes with the gopro. Its a square plastic 4" mount that is part of the protective case the camera is delivered in. Luckily it has the same mount socket as all the other mounts. I then put the plate inside the wing and carefully mounted the camera through from the bottom of the wing pinching the wing onto the mount. It only pinches a very small amount of wing and sits there nicely. There was no creasing after removal. (2mins 45 secs in)Now the cover my arse bit. Obviously this may not be a good idea mounting something on the underside of the wing. May cause its flight charateristics to change. Dont blame me if something happens. Anyways it worked for me. Cheers Mike
  4. Good news on the powick grass! Saturday evening looks to be shaping up nicely. I'm sure there will be balloons up for us to fly round. Here are a couple of pics from Wednesday.
  5. Thanks Pete. That did it. Mike
  6. Looks like the forum clock is an hour behind the real time Cheers Mike
  7. Hi Mike here. Anyone flying this evening in worcestershire? I'm up for it. Cheers Mike
  8. My opinion is...... Better to have a well packed, safely attached reserve (check the handle and pins are attached correctly before each flight) and not use it, than not have one. Who knows what can happen up there, not clipped into carabineer correctly, carabineer snaps (not going to happen but you might have damaged it on the ground). Helicopter flys too close, collision, swing arm failure. Stuck in a spiral. Prop spins off and rips wing or lines. Brake handle wraps into prop. Does'nt matter how nice the conditions are! Yes many of the above are very unlikely but still possible. Who knows when you might need a reserve? Mike
  9. Hi Wallsjay. All good advice. Many of us bought the wrong equipment when we started, and now have the knowledge to know better. Get advice and training! Safe flying. Mike.
  10. Thanks Jock. Yes the 2 photos are grabs from the video. Cheers Mike
  11. Hi Dan. Yes managed to run down the side of my field and take off in the not very wide shorter grass! I'll be back in about 3 weeks. Managed to fly around 2 Balloons that day. Cheers Mike.
  12. So Shall we go to the common on the east side of the beacons? Or the smaller one near the pub? Cheers Mike
  13. Also, Vince from Custom Air in the UK is a parts stockist. www.custom-air.co.uk Cheers Mike
  14. Well its still looking good for tomorrow. If you can arrange anything, that would be great jock! Or is it worth asking Simon Westmore if we can fly from his new site? Cheers Mike
  15. So, chaps. Do we have a meet for tomorrow? Can we Paramotor from the bottom of Castle Morton? Is Powick still like the Amazon? Cheers Mike
  16. Hi Joe. I have the Epsilon 5-28 with power risers. I was very keen to see the difference, but alas the trim range is very small. From fully in to fully out I can see only 2 or 3 miles an hour difference. I contacted them to enquire about using the speed bar with trimmers out and got a non committal answer. Saying - yes it would be more susceptible to collapses. I have a reflex wing for paramotoring and the trimmers make a large difference to the speed. If you fly with reflex pilots, you will be left behind. This is what I found with this wing. Cheers Mike
  17. Hi Guys. I am back till Wednesday. Then away to the USA. Monday looks good. But, my field is totally overgrown also. So where to fly from? Good to catch up. Mike
  18. I mounted the cam on my wing. Have a look on my website at newest video. Best in 720p www.pmmike.com Cheers Mike.
  19. Anyone out tonight? (monday 24th) Mike
  20. You might want to check if you get 1 or 2 million pounds of 3rd party cover. If you ever want to try any competitions, some need 2 million £ of cover! Mike.
  21. I must say I have the above battery kit on my Black Devil engine. From the 1st charge, I started the engine 30 or so times. Then packed it away. I then had to work away, got stuck in Europe with the Ash cloud thing, finally got home after a couple of months and the thing stated 1st time. And it was well cold. I went from a 9amp hour lead acid weighing a couple of kilos to a better cranking battery that weighs only 260grams.....Fantastic! Mikey
  22. Trevor Drury is your closest I guess. Nice fella too. http://www.paramotorpirates.com/index.html
  23. Try this http://www.baileyaviation.com/thor.html After clicking on gallery (top right), check out picture bottom left on this page. Mike
  24. Or maybe a kit frame that the engine will fit into? Cheers Mike
