  1. Thats what I was thinking but then I wondered if there was some light weight epoxy or thing else. You need to rebalance after adding to both sides?
  2. I fly quit a bit. I bought a 130 carbon fiber prop for the miniplane last year. I love the prop it has just enough thrust (really don't need any more). However I'm getting a little worried its starting to disintegrate. The main edge is really starting to disappear. Before it gets really bad is there some coating I can put on this to stop/slow the process down? Prop Helix Top 80 Carbon Fiber Propeller - 2 piece 130cm It is a thin prop compared to others I've seen but its works really well. Thanks
  3. Notch is right "alloy fatigues pretty badly when bent" Guys don't fly this after its been bent its not worth it.
  4. OH my god. I learn to fly in that neck of the woods and knew Chris. I was just going to post how wonderful it is to escape life's stress through flying then I seen your post My thoughts and and condolences to his family. What a terrible day losing such a nice person, we need more people like Chris around. Tom
  5. I can’t believe it took you guys less than two pages to scare the poor guy off. You didn't even need to recruit the cunning pie making cat man. tough crowd! Cheers T
  6. Could be the season but it looks like a crazy thermic place http://www.windfinder.com/forecast/petrolina Its closer to this one http://www.windfinder.com/forecast/barra_aeroporto It looks like it’s a location that cycles. But it’s really weird it’s like a reverse cycle. The wind seems to be in the morning then dropping in the afternoon. Could be a great place for night flights. But keep in mind we are in winter here as you can see it’s only getting up to 29deg lol. But the first link is petrolina man the wind there looks crazy 10 gusting to 20kns? I think you student is in the middle of these two places This is a crazy place...... Ok got it figured out now...... In winter we get south and east. He's behind the mountains http://www.paraglidingearth.com/pgearth/?region=479 This explains the weird wind effects. He will need to learn this location first. Good thing for him there is there is a ton of paragliding in the region so I'm guessing closer to the coast is crazy beautiful. Might be good to talk with the locals and figure out what’s going on there. But being behind the mountain will be great when the coastal wind cannot penetrate however there is a side effect of this. I’m guessing the thermal activity in his location will be interesting. just my 15min look into things. Lets do this trip http://www.paramotormag.com/2010/11/lu- ... 2832031250
  7. Plug this into google maps is this the place? Xique-Xique - Bahia, Brazil
  8. I have a wing no issue motor we might need to make a small contribution to the local school . Really depends on where the farm is for sure. If its really far then it might be hard.
  9. If you flying inland with a motor you just need to watch the season and weather. In the summer its not uncommon to find 8m/s thermals. I'm cautious when I go inland. I've been raped a few times by 7m/s. It really depends on the day. Many of the free flyers here will not fly in the summer at the peek hours its just to strong. Dusk works really well or the beach at peek hours (there is just so much of it). But you will love it "fly where you like" Where is the farm? T
  10. Sad part..... Its never been used. It was ordered for a project that we scrapped. I have stacks and stacks of servers to. We could host 100 of these sites with this horse power. We going through anther upgrade in the next year that will free up even more gear..... Its sad it just gets stripped and trashed. To bad the schools here could not use it. But if your ever looking for wesite storage pick up a netapp off ebay you will never have to worry about losing data again. We have close to a petabyte of it running globally. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid= ... &_from=R40 This is what oracle, google, yahoo etc all use for storage (just a ton bigger) highly recommend it. Get you swimming gear on lol
  11. Yea good point if you need software on the server that is different for sure. I run mostly media/pictures for the e-store so I stay within the program for the most part. No one really bothers the e-stores anyways lol. I see your point and issue. Shit if you where closer I could fill your shop with servers and storage. We have a few tons of great gear sitting doing nothing. Just so you have an idea we have probably 2.5mil US worth of Netapps capable of hosting 500-700 tara worth of storage again doing nothing. http://www.smartechconsulting.com/FAS96 ... Filer-Head http://www.smartechconsulting.com/FAS98 ... Filer-Head cheers T
  12. Just think Simon one $200 hard drive would cover 57 months at 3.50/month.
  13. Simon I have my website with these guys http://www.a2hosting.com/#2 For 3.95/month it makes not sense to have your own gear (cost to much). The tool set you get is one of the best to make sure your site is found etc. Oh and support is really good. cheers T
  14. Looks like old topics to. Might have lost some data if the outage was from a crash/problem. Seems faster.....
  15. To date the full reflex wings have about 2/3 the glide of the normal PG its speed vs glide you can not have both. Bad glide translates to more speed. This is the big physics problem in the world of gliding how to archive speed without descent The Ozone seems to be the closest these days and a good wing for people that want a wing that is good at both. You can use the speed bar all the way through the trim range due to their riser config. For free flight you close the trims completely. If you have some nice high and need to go open the trims or just hit the speedster as the end result in the speedster is the same. If your looking for a fast XC motor wing don't buy a speedster get a Dudek Nuc or Apco Force (there are others too I just know these ones well). Do some reading about reflex. You will see that when in reflex if you use the breaks you will be trying actually reverse the reflex form the wing has taken. Doing this will eventually break down the lamina air flow and cause bad things to happen . Do some reading up on this you will find it interesting I think. http://www.paraglidershop.co.uk/paramot ... reflex.htm let me know if this helps. Cheers Tom
  16. You go back again this weekend? The weekend here looks great! Can’t wait to go for a rip. Wanted to go to the mountains this weekend for a free flight but its mother’s day and I've been bad as of late so I need to get some credits lol But Saturday morning I will disappear out the back door with a motor attached to the truck lol http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=122062 You can fly a ton here in the winter.
  17. "ajusting to all the new sensations" was it a wet one? lol I seen the weather and hoped it would hang in there for you. I checked on the weekend and seen the zero wind and wondered how that would go lol. Yea three no winders in a row will get you. 27 wholly shit. Its amazing what a little ground handling will help out with. I did the same when I learned to paraglide. Spent a few days before training with a buddy. Good to see you’re enjoying it. Only tip I will give you, learn the weather. Things move and change in your area really fast.
  18. Outkast that looks allot like your gear hanging up there? Is that your pants and a sock hanging up there too?
  19. Lawrence I’m not sure I'm going to be much help due to lack of time these days. But I bought the Ozone Speedster for just this motor and free flight. However I’ve not been able to test the Ozone on the free flight. Came so close last weekend (@#$%) What I can tell you. Ozone should change the name “speedster” fast it is not when compared to other motor wings in its class. However it feels more like a paraglider wing to me. Don’t get me wrong I do a ton of motoring on the wing and it seems to have the glide and it handles the thermals really nice. I fly almost once/twice a week in the winter here. I have a Dudek Nuc it is a full reflex XC speed machine however I believe the Ozone would thermal better (I have not been able to test it). I like the agility of the speedster too. I love to get into some low level slalom (tree trimming flights). I often land and the tip of my prop is green from trimming the odd bush. They tout the ozone as a free flying wing too (ozone.com) http://www.flyozone.com/paramotor/en/ne ... x-profile/ Blog about it: http://wildmedic.co.za/on-gliders-and-t ... t-flights/ Over all I’m happy with the wing it does fit my flying style really well. I’m 80k ppg 107-110 all up (miniplane) Free flight 90k max all up (all my gear is mountain light weight gear)
  20. Like all this there is good and bad. Now the speedster is the slowest for sure. I still believe its not full reflex glider. I’ve even done the full reflex full brake test and nothing happen. I would never do this on the Nuc. You can use the speed bar through the entire rage of reflex the speedster. I do enjoy the Ozone for flying in lift. Due to the slow speed you can work thermals with ease I find the Nuc a little harder due to the speed. But if you’re looking for a fast XC glider the Ozone is not the glider for you. I was going to sell the Nuc 29m but at 80 with a miniplane I come in right at 107-111kg (100 – 130kl Weight range* EN/LTF ). I’m thinking of keeping it for XC type flights now. I would love to have a 27m / 25m to rip around in. If you have a nuc now and like the speed I would get another just smaller like a 25/27 to rip around in. Cheers.
  21. Just thought I’d post this for anyone looking at gliders. I have a Dudek 29 & Ozone Speedster 26 and fly with and Apco Force 28 almost every Flight. I also fly with a bunch of others but they just don’t enter the speed area to be considered First thing that is a bit shocking is the Ozone “speedster” is the slowest of the three for sure. I fly the Ozone with the Apco almost every flight. I’m about 100- 105k all up and he’s about 117-120 all up so things are for the most part even. To keep up to the Apco in neutral I need to be half reflex. The Apco is considerably faster. Now on the Dudek Nuc I’m a little underweight and all I have to do is add just a touch of reflex and I start to pass the Apco. So after all this testing if I had a Dutek Nuc in 26 it would be the fastest of the three. I have to say the Duduk’s glide is the worst but if you want speed it’s the glider. Anyone else have the same experience?
  22. Looks like mother nature is on your side http://www.sailflow.com/spot/67225#forecast Hope this weather stays for you. Look really nice.
  23. How is it going? Did you get some good weather? let us know.
  24. The Cameleon Throttle is great and solves the throttle/brake issue. I bought one here and now everyone at the club has one or wants one. worth the cash. T
