  1. Please sign my petiton to call for a ban on scientologists creating images of gay buddhist felines. I didn't see the thread or I would have signed.
  2. One more thing to add. Not too many people are going to tell you “this is the wing you need”. There are too many variables. The main Variable is you. One of the fun parts with this sport is shopping for your next upgrade and purchase. Do your research review everything come up with a short list. Then post what you have found and what you like e.g I’m a new pilot with 15 flights. I don’t like an active wing that gives a ton of feedback. But I want some speed (all the guys I fly with have fast reflex wings) I want a wing that is fast for a beginner wing but stable. I do like the wing to be active in turns etc….. I found theses wings 1. 2. 3. Anyone here know about or fly these? But even before this I would highly recommend if you have time open a blog and share your training with the guys. This will go a long ways in helping them understand your flying etc. Nothing wrong with dealers but I can tell you I prefer to make up my own mind. Get as many inputs as you can. This is a great place to get that kind of exposure, maybe even more then you hoped for!!!! Just need to ask the right questions Hope this helps
  3. Have a read through some of the guys blogs here and see what they are flying. There are tons of guys here that will help you. Yea don't pay any attention to Dell ( 0 Value) There is so many great wings out there now. I'm not sure I would consider a K2 as a beginner. Welcome to the forum! Tom
  4. You Bastard!!!! Great pic's! I love these pictures with all the big green trees (makes me miss Canada!!!!) We've been 15-20kns ever day here! Summers coming. Summer here there is a ton of wind. You could fly every morning if your a morning person cheers T
  5. Simon, give yourself a pat on the back too! It takes a hell of allot of work/time to maintain a site and monitor it 7/24 just to offer this wealth of knowledge to others. You even allow the riff-raff to hang around and pitch in (myself included). good on you! "Life is short, and I don't say thank you enough" No one does these days! cheers T
  6. What happens in this case? What can he do (turn the other way and fly off?)? I'm guessing he should have set down outside the airport
  7. For what its worth we are getting some crazy wind here in Victoria too. I was at the takeoff last weekend it was 12-13kns I was go to take off for a rip but just did not have the energy. 30min later it was 20+ So I pulled out the kites and had an epic session! I was in a 16m kite with 20+kns I had a few 15m+ jumps In the end the wind came up to around 25kns I had to have two guys land me. I was way over powered....
  8. He is the same weight as me. The good news is he is in the range of weight the allows him to use the 18-22kg motors (light ones). Hope everything goes well for him!
  9. Pat have a look at this type PowerShot SX500 IS There is many types and brands but focus on the ones with these 24mm Wide-Angle Lens (35mm equivalent: 24-720mm) These are the cats ass of digital. I just have not had the time to review who has the best (no time right now). But if you want a digital to snap that great pic these about as good as digital gets. cheers T
  10. Interesting how it all looks possible on paper but the actual proves to be incredibly difficult
  11. One more: diego per il volo Message 3 of 7 , Oct 28 2:20 AM View Source we plan to make some test machines, very few in fact, and than will begin the production slowly, 10 machines a time, but beginning from some mounts after long tests. some anwsers for all: -- the sistem will be heavier and more expensive so " we will continue the production of carburator engines " -- at moment we are not sure if it will be possible an upgrade of producted engines, what I can say now is 90% no because needs a modification of the cranckcase. -- at moment we can image so many improuvements IN THEORY. what we verify at moment is an incredible easy start and more reactive engine (faster acceleration), yes few more power with some settings, but we must verify if we can use these settings. (same problem as a carburator engine) -- about consumption, power, pollution, we need to complete the mapping program, and this will need a lot of time, may be years. As you know also the cars need to remap after years of production, we can make many mistakes on the beginning. we all engine manufacturers are small companyes and we can't invest so much money in tests as the car manufacturers, than be patient please. We are so proud to make a new revolution in paramotor machines, but we can't make it tomorrow morning ... may be in the afternoon ? We will inform you every small step we will do. Diego
  12. Interesting post diego per il volo Message 7 of 7 , Apr 2, 2012 View Source as every new thing, when you begin you can't image how difficult can be .. ok we have good results, but not so good as we espect on the beginning, we found only 50% of the theoretical advantages untill now. sure the best performances can come after years of experience. we plan to give few machines to the test pilots soon. In the same time we do a lot of test with new components, new settings and new solutions (different pumps, exaust, head form, etc.) now the look is less rude, begin to be agreable ... Show More
  13. Good Read. http://blogs.howstuffworks.com/2010/11/ ... dvantages/ I know the guys at Per Il Volo already have a direct injection top80 in testing. http://www.miniplane.net/en/info-news/2 ... ne-ge.html The only thing that worries me about interjection and the crack lube system it will need to be 100% reliable. But in realallity this should not be an issue. I'm surprised the Top80 GE is not selling yet.
  14. "He gunned it while chatting to his mate, and not focusing on the motor or his grip, proceeded to lean against the motor with his arm and shoulder when (WHACK) " Ok that i can understand.
  15. "I accelerated and then my shoulder was pressed against the screen" How is this possible? Really? I'm guessing this would be a less then accurate description of what happen. I'm i wrong? I don't know about you guys but touching my shoulder to the netting is impossible when in harness Accelerating
  16. Few off the top for me • Horse power to weight ratio (how much HP can you give me in the lightest package) • Zero vibration • Low heat and motor with good heat dissipation • Quite • Good acceleration (Rapid RPM increase) • Easy start • 0 effect due to altitude • Fuel efficient Battery would be the best but current cell technology limits are slowing the development of a practical solution 2 stroke has been done to death (not sure what you can improve) 4 stroke is being tried but the problem becomes weight.

    Tree love,,

Man that is some bad flying.... I kind of hope for his sake he was dunk in this video. Otherwise maybe he should stick with the lawnmower as his 2 stroke of choice! T
  18. Never tried this but as I have one and if it was my ground wing I would give it a go (that does not mean its the right thing to do for sure ). http://www.kitefix.com/catalog/product_ ... 7e758a2a00 I use this on the kites to repair any cloth rips and it works really nice. I can see why it would not work for a ground glider. It will look like shit but.......
  19. DMP The Nuc and GTX (stands for "Grand Touring X-country") are basically designed to do the same thing. I'm not understanding the need to switch. What are you lacking on the Nuk? Or if your just needing a change and a new wing that's different
  20. wow looks like the new people for sure! I could not see if they have one for the mini.
  21. But these guys with the aluminum cages have a much better "crumple zone" then us guys on these flimsy miniplanes!!!! lol Some one has to stir the pot on a Friday..... This place is to quiet! cheers guys and may we fly this weekend! My trip to the mountains has been F'd due to rain. Well back to the motor I go! Oh Craz One thing I must say the motor is not the perfect solution (Free Flight is) but man the window of opportunity to fly is 10X more when you have a motor. Get yourself a nice music solution to. Nothing better then some nice tunes and PPG I fly at night over the city here quite often at night (crazy beautiful). T
  22. CRZY Welcome! I came from almost the same back ground. I wanted weight shift and light. I'm 80k and fly a mini plane now Setup 1. Small cage 2. Helix Top 80 Carbon Fiber Propeller (130cm) 3. Gearbox is a 19/73 ratio With this setup on launch I grab the shoulder strap with one hand and with a little grunt pick the unit up and throw it over the other shoulder. With this gear and prop combo you will have tons of juice to do anything. Now the cage is "flimsy" as Simon put it but you wanted light and this is what you got. But it seems flimsy because the outer ring is fiberglass not aluminum (keeps the weight down). I've been in the mini for 2+ years now and nothing else out there really makes me want to fly it except the ultra 130 (Air Conception) look it up. But for your weight it would be a ton of power lol. @ 80k I have never had any problem taking of in 0 air. I've often been up waiting forever for the other guys with the heavy ton of power PPG's. Take off is all technique same as in the PG world not so much the motor. You will not go wrong with one... you can sleep now.
