  1. The website states that you need to produce a PPG licence and insurance in order to be able to fly at this event. Can anyone who has been in previous years shed a little light on what is accepted as a PPG 'licence', as this item does not exist For example, could I produce a PPL and my PPG insurance. Would this satisfy them? What has anyone else that has flown in the past at this event produced? Dan
  2. Pap PA125 - 8 litres fuel. Not inc wing 125kg all up ready to fly on 26m Revo2 About 120kg nil fuel
  3. On a scale of 1 - 10 (highest) how would you rate the quality of the music through your bluetooth adaptor and headset speaker? I know it's very subjective, but compared to an average pair of headphones hard connected to your iphone Cheers Dan
  4. Hi Mark Cheers for that mate I'm starting to get excited now about this wing. Just one thing holding me back....starts with M and ends with Y I have to admit it would seem strange to go from a 26 (Revo2) to more agile wing but go up a size to 28 I also have to admit that I haven't even tried the speedbar system on my Revo2. Somehow just not got round to it. I'll check out your vids. Dan
  5. Hi Fergus Great review Was wondering how you were getting on with you new 28 Speedster. Was actually more interested in the difference you find between the 26 that you tested and the 28 that you've bought. Was it a good decision to go for the larger wing? I'm considering moving from my 26 Revo2 to the Speedster and I weigh the same as you (85kg) and fly a Pap PA125. If you get a chance, it would be great if you could give a comparison review. Cheers Dan
  6. Launch: Without a doubt, the wing comes up quicker on neutral trim, and although you may have to run a bit harder, ultimately, as the wing comes up quicker, you actually get off the ground in a similar distance to launching with trims pulled in. Landing: Faster yes, but now I've had a chance to get used to it and not be freaked out, as I have previously reported, I actually prefer the extra responsiveness of the brakes that extra speed gives. If I get it right, it's really satisfying. However, if I get it wrong.....fast and hard I was fortunate enough to get the Ozone 'Tips and Tricks' DVD for Christmas. In it Mathieu Rouanet recommends that on all of the Ozone wings to launch and land with trimmers between neutral and fully out.
  7. http://www.paramotormag.com/2012/01/las-candelas-2012-to-host-fly-games/ Anyone going?
  8. Excellent! Just think how long each of those contraptions would have taken to make, only to destroy itself in the first two seconds. Incredible. Thanks for posting
  9. I made a severe mistake the yesterday....I took off forgetting my music, and foolishly, I thought I could fly without it. After 15 minutes it was hell, but I pushed on anyway. Won't do it again. I can seriously say that it reduced my enjoyment by roughly 39.2%
  10. It's a bit like having music in your car. You can still hear (and feel) the engine and more importantly any change to the engine tone, but without doubt, once you get used to it, it's sooo much more pleasurable with music. However, I never have music switched on until I'm comfortably high enough and settled and I switch it off well in time for landing. Also, if I need to concentrate especially hard on something (turbulance, flying close to....anything or anyone, photography etc), then the music becomes more of a distraction than a pleasure, so off it goes. Interestingly, for me the choice of music can influence my flight experience. For example if I'm listening to Enya the flight seems to be much more soothing and relaxing, whereas if I have The Clash playing it seems more of an adrenaline experience. In this respect I can, to some degree, tailor my flights to my mood
  11. I have discovered something amazing.... Listening to music whilst flying makes your engine work better. It's now sooo much quieter, and I would swear it's smoother too, with less vibration. It's incredible what a little Floyd can do My set up is a pair of Optime III, some quality m/cycle speakers http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BASSMONSTER-HELMET-HEADSET-SPEAKERS-ARAI-SHOEI-iPod-MP3-/260797127207?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3cb8b85a27 A neat little Bluetooth adaptor: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004VFG1DU/ref=asc_df_B004VFG1DU5912699?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=googlecouk06-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B004VFG1DU What do you listen to whilst you're flying? Happy New Year, hopefully with lots of airtime Dan
  12. LOL LOL LOL This post is very funny. Very apt title Maybe, when the fog clears, we'll get to see the video
  13. Well I posted a video on a recent day out to Tarifa, but Alan you're the only one that commented on it, so I figured folk are getting fed up with me posting videos of sunny climes whilst it's not good elsewhere
  14. How the Greek economy bailout works It is a slow day in a little Greek Village. The rain is beating down and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit. On this particular day a rich German tourist is driving through the village, stops at the local hotel and lays a €100 note on the desk, telling the hotel owner he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night. The owner gives him some keys and, as soon as the visitor has walked upstairs, the hotelier grabs the €100 note and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher. The butcher takes the €100 note and runs down the street to repay his debt to the pig farmer. The pig farmer takes the €100 note and heads off to pay his bill at the supplier of feed and fuel. The guy at the Farmers' Co-op takes the €100 note and runs to pay his drinks bill at the taverna. The publican slips the money along to the local prostitute drinking at the bar, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer him "services" on credit. The hooker then rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill to the hotel owner with the €100 note. The hotel proprietor then places the €100 note back on the counter so the rich traveller will not suspect anything. At that moment the traveller comes down the stairs, picks up the €100 note, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money, and leaves town. No one produced anything. No one earned anything. However, the whole village is now out of debt and looking to the future with a lot more optimism. And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is how the bailout package works Dan
  15. Friend of mine competes in the paragliding acros at the Extreme Sports Week in Norway. He sent me the link to this years video Wicked! [vimeo] [/vimeo]
  16. Ohh noo....a Dellette I have to say, I don't think I've ever been so tense watching a PPG video. For some reason it just went against the grain for me. Maybe it's because I have a daughter and that whole protective thing just kicked in.
  17. Bloody hell Alan, you must be a mind reader! Thank you so much for taking what must have been a considerable amount of time and effort to put this together in such detail, and posting. You're a star. Dan
  18. [vimeo]http://www.vimeo.com/33579207[/vimeo] Cheers Dan ps Don't worry about the Dung Beetle near the end. He's a fully paid up member of the stuntbeetle association, specialising in the area of human stamp evasion
  19. Great video, I'm definitely not competing Alan 'cause there are so many amazing, creative and imaginative producers out there (probably with Macs ). I just botch a few scenes together, cross my fingers and hope for the best Anyway, I've had another go (Tarifa) Cheers Dan
  20. I really, really, really don't want to throw a spanner in the works, but we've been here for 5 February's now and I have to say that it is, without a doubt, the most dodgy month of the year, weather wise. I'm not saying that it will piss it down, but at very best it's 50/50. In other words you could get lucky and have some lovely flying weather, but if not, the rain tends to come for days on end at this time of year, and that would be truely awful. I managed 5 flights last Feb, this being one of them: [youtubevideo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZw1d_Q1SBY[/youtubevideo] Defo not t-shirt weather though (maybe on the ground) Simon, I absolutely don't want to piss on your bonfire, but forewarned an' all that..... ...but then again, everything is relative Cheers Dan
  21. At least they don't have to fork out 200 squid for a new prop. Mind you, can you imagine trying to take off wearing a pair of fins
  22. More than happy to ....sate them?
  23. Don't know if you know a small area of coastline about an hour west of my home in Southern Spain called Tarifa. It's an area of outstanding, natural beauty and quite popular with the kite/wind surfing fraternity due to the windy conditions. Well about 4-5 days a month the wind drops, so the other day a few of us decided to have a day out.....
