  1. Anyone not too keen on the gauge use a gps instead of just a map & compass, or an electric start instead of manual? Or use an engine instead of a hillside!? Just wondered! Can see the simple versus complicated argument, one can fail, two's backup! Tj.
  2. Looks like you've been flying in the Gulf of Mexico! Tj.
  3. Leo, I think even the most optimistic of us know there aren't 2001 paid members. I'm nipping down sainsburys in a bit, do you want a can of lager to replace the one you're missing?! All the best mate, Tj

    Great Gloves

Good points about the level of activity. They don't just apply to having warm hands, its.important to.warm the rest of your body up as well. Try some stretches before carrying your kit to where you're laying it out. This should help stop you from seizing up in the air. Also when you've landed its worth stretching out again. Hopefully this will help minimize injury on launch and landing! Tj.
  5. Good to see some of you guys this afternoon, will deffo see you again soon. Tj.

    Insurance

I guess at the time the BHPA may have been the major source of information! Now through the internet and sites like this, your sources ate really multiplied. Because the sport is u.regulated, you'll probably get some co.flicking answers. Regarding insurance, as long as they are a 'legal' insurance provider, I guess they can provide Insurance for anything they want, regardless of its regulated status. This status just makes it more risky. Risk = cost. Tj
  14. So both hands down to far, brake on, angle of attack to severe...ground contact. That's one of the best vids I've seen so far. Excellent teaching aid. Tj.

    reserve used on ppg

Also landing on water Can be worse than land. (think of a belly flop, *ouch* then getting caught up in your lines and drowning). Not nice. Tj.
  16. I'm not a pilot yet. Was this an attempt to get in the seat to early or just to large an angle of attack on climb? Tj
  17. I'd be happy to do some research and put a small piece together. I've still got some of my aircrew stuff that might be of use, as well as stuff about crew resource management which is of relevance. Tj.
  18. I'll be there but only have a limited leave pass from the camp commandant. When is the best time to come to see some flying and have a good chat?!
  19. Cool stories! There's 2 things I take away from this... At least some people care enough to call, however, its so easy to call 999 now that people don't use there loaf and find out the basic facts first! Get this all the time at work. The second thing is called the normalization of deviancy (not like that Pete!) To us seeing a bloke dangling from a parachute is totally normal. To Joe public its different (or deviant from the norm), especially descending, at speed as well. Because they're not used to it nowadays Joe doesn't want to help because of a fear of litigation, so he 'does his bit' and calls the nines on his mobile. A but like peeps that see a car on the hard shoulder and call 999 ' just in case '.! *gets off soap box!* Ttfn. Tj.
  20. This is a cool training blog, hope to be starting mine soon!
  21. Dunno iftthe forest micro weather system is doing its own thing again Pete but summer's been over a couple of days in the rest of glos! Look forward to seeing you again soon! Tj.
  22. Hey Joe! This is the place to be for paramotoring! I was thinking the same way as you initially. However, I .now think they're 2 completely different animals. I'd seriously just do a paramotoring course. The paramotor club instructors seem to have the right idea. That's who I'm going with in the next few months. ( just waiting to find out when the next instructors course is!) This forum is super helpful too so don't be shy! Tj.
