  1. How many guys on here actually use hi Octane fuel for their motors???
  2. If you have an electric start - why don't you start it on your back??
  3. Come on, Dartmoor is just empty moors - grass land. Now look at North Cornwall, big rough coast line, plenty of old historic buildings to view from the sky and it does come with plenty of campsites
  4. Shame - you need to move further down here (More South West really)
  5. @admin (Simon W) still would be nice to add Cornwall branch to the Devon
  6. My two Dudek loops are only a few mm apart and I do use the upper left one and the lower right one. And it does help the torque a lot. Can any one else confirm this is correct - I'm no expert on the wing sorry??
  7. On Dudek wings is there two position loops you can lock your carabiner in? This enables you to off set it enough on either side.
  8. I am happy to say that my last 5 flights I've had, I've started my motor on my back (2 of them being cold starts ). As guys were saying, it is a lot to do with technique too and of course a motor than can start
  9. The last few times I've been using a bungee (like your photo) - just not going through the handle. Seems to work fine. As Simon mentioned, you just need to be careful of the reserve. Where is yours mounted, because mine came with it mounted on the right pocket, so now moving it to the front with a flight deck system. Done just over 8 hours on the beast now - still happy
  10. After training we all feel like old farts, but how old is old for you!!! Maybe scabby wing will produce scabby ground handling.
  11. Arrrrr Looks like my old car Rav 4 Lovely car I got my rack years ago, so I just had to make a new shape platform to put my motor on. Fits lovely now, but I don't do long journeys with it on. Also plan to use a bungie for the prop - just don't want the wear and tear on the bolts all the time (just lazy really ) It's just nice to leave the left over fuel in the motor - ready for the next time then Lovely car thou
  12. Attaching the 'remove before flight' tag onto the tie/strap, which is holding the reserve. At least then the tag is noticeable and flapping in the wind Maybe looking into this too deeply now - just get a camper van, good excuse and would be a lot easier
  13. Or just get one of those 'remove before flight' tags
  14. Maybe Still easier to bring up then a marquee
  15. I fully understand about the motor and I've noticed a very big different with mine now I remember well, standing around with my old faithful wing, but since I purchased the new Synth 2 - I've never done a forward. The wing is very easy to bring up on a reserve and it just stays there. A big improvement with the extra thrust and a lighter wing. Tony
  16. Great thought - one that I didn't even think about. Need to have a think about how thou Thanks Patrick for the advice (nice to seen you're getting a new motor too - good choice ) Tony
  17. I guess the main reason for using the rack is to keep the motor assembled, so I don't strip it down each time. I think I will attached a bungie (somehow) to both props and try and stop the windmill effect This morning, I lost a prop bolt (was not yet assembled) with the vibrations on the journey!!!! I guess it was OK with the other 5 Cheers Simon
  18. Had a couple of morning flights with a new and improved car rack (Thule with a piece of wood). On the way there and back the prop was spinning when I went over 30. This is new to me because of the new motor with a clutch - so I've a dilemma Do I tie the prop to the cage to stop it spinning or do I let it have a 'blast' and let it spin!!!! Technical or simple answers would be very grateful. Cheers
  19. I prime the motor until I hear a 'hiss' noise (sometimes) on the ground, then I slip in and pull it once or twice slowly on my back and then try and start it. I try only 4 or 5 times,,,,,,,,,,,then place it on the ground, check the throttle/spring again and start it with a slight throttle. Then it starts first or second time. Guys - no hate mail please I know starting it on the ground is bad practice - and I don't like it. I do as many checks as possible. I'll try your method and see how it goes
  20. I very happy with mine too. Not that accurate, but on average I'll getting 5-6 litres, but never TO with 15 on board yet Reference starting - I'm finding it very hard to start from cold on my back - I do try, I'm guessing in the end I flood it and then start the motor on the ground (slight throttle and starts no problem). Do we all cold start on the ground, would be nice to know, or is it me???? I know it is not the best solution Once it has started - there is no problem starting on my back - first pull most of the time. Might need more porridge oats or longer arms!!!
  21. To be honest - If you're 105kg getting 3.5 ltrs is some going Have you a marquee above your head!!! I think most of us get between 5-6 ltrs.
  22. When I purchased a new motor, I also looked into these two machines. A certain MD said, that if you want a electric start go for the 190. If you are OK with a pull start go for a Moster. A certain mechanic said, Don't see many moster's in here, but I always see the 190's. For me - that made my mind up. Yes maybe the moster drinks more (not sure), but at least you are flying and not waiting for your motor to be fixed. Tony
