  1. I have a Black Bull with a Tryton carb on it. Has anyone any experience of these beasties, I can see no way of priming it other than slackening off the top cover and doing the usual blow thing into the tank then retighten the cover, this will get fuel to the carb but any excess runs over the carb and engine, not an ideal situation
  2. Thanks for getting on the case Simon, that is valuable info indeed
  3. Maybe not relevent but i have 2 corsair engines with flash starters and both had the same problems of non recoil, one exploded on start due to a boxed off decom port on a brand new engine, the other was in my view and I am a design engineer, piss poor tolerances on the materials used, i ended up remaking the parts in aluminium and changing the pivot bolt to left handed thread, for me its frustrating and i have the tools, for most I think i would be really pissed off having paid out for a supposed quality engine
  4. now the rules re trikes under 70Kg are here and effectivly eliminate the disability exemption does it mean one can train on a trike, or has the CAA done for people wishing to fly paratrikes what a visit to Lourdes hasnt ,so far I have been told you still need to do foot launch training before moving to trikes, which does seem at odds with the concept of a fair playing field, any wisdom imparted is most welcome
  5. My very limited experience of flash starters tends to confirm Morgy,s comments on the pull/ tug method, the priming or clutch engagement have nothing to do with the flash starter, its all in the wrist action , although I have to say I would love to meet the person that designed the corsair flash starter and have a quiet talk with them, so far both fail to rewind frequently, solved by rewinding the return spring, that worked for a bit, then the retaining shoulder bolt unwound despite the loctite, a left hand thread on it removes that problem of a shattered drive dog . my current solution has been to make a L/H threaded shoulder bolt and helicoil into the housing and replace the nylon and acetal spring housing and dog disc with aluminium ones, but the good news, I did re use the bit of string again....... bottom line I think is you need to learn the difference between a full out pull and the pull needed to compress the spring.
  6. It was a tongue in cheek comment and I agree 100% with you,I am sure the membership fee does not go far in the running of this site and while I am not often active I think paying the small fee is something that I do to support a site that does open up a wealth of information to sift through
  7. I love bribery, shame I am already a member HAHA btw Simon do you notify when membership is due for renewal ,i would hate to be a lapsed member
  8. I would suspect leakage across the non return valve at that low pressure, not poor connections unless you have visible proof of fuel around the joints
  9. So its packing time for two weeks in Goa and how did that wing and harness end up in the suitcase??? I have missed the time at Membury but work has rather taken centre stage and I hope that my memory of the wind direction at Candolim holds good and I can get in some ground handling, in between the visits to the gold and clothing markets that Tuula SIMPLY must see!!!!! The cost of paramotoring seems to have reached rather high proportions but keeping the lady sweet is important, I have pre empted her discovery of the wing by arranging flowers and champagne in our room, I shall be thinking of you all hauling wings off wet ground in the fog while I suffer in 33C blue skies and cold beers among the palm trees
  10. time to wish everyone here blwyddyn Newydd Dda looking forwards to parafest next year, as a Gog I may even meet some of my own kind
  11. So Simon admits to clandestine conversations with wives and girlfriends and as to knowing what wives and girlfriends are giving their partners the mind boggles I am shocked to the core indeed, I would think he be known as Simon Lothario Westmore henceforth merry christmas
  12. This is what I have gleaned from other sites, if your doctor says you cant foot launch because of a health problem then jumping the hoops the CAA will grant an exemption on application with the documentation to use a trike, this applies only to trikes that use a demountable system that can be used by an able bodied person for foot launching. my understanding is that the swan lady applied and was granted this. this is very brief but I believe is the current situation, please anyone correct me if I am in error
  13. Can anyone help, got this Pubic black devil light that refuses to tick over at less than 3200 rpm it is clutched so is that normal ? top rpm is over 8000 but I put that down to under pitched prop, also it kicks back like a B******* on the flash starter. plug gap is spot on to within 0.05mm the air gap on the wheel is cock on , is it carb setup or my pull technique? or something else. any help will be appreciated
  14. So if my understanding is correct of this new rating system and I do not for one moment imply that I do, then a person who is very active in posting on matters various and using many words where one may suffice using the common language that I hasten to add is not mine, to explain a point or to ask a question in depth far beyond that which is needed or indeed to reply to a post in great detail as they understand the question at that point in time, notwithstanding that a previous post may have answered it. I may well be wrong in my understanding of the matter then one assumes correctly or incorrectly that points are awarded for the length of the post and the bravery of the others that are prepared to wade through the text to grasp the direction of the comments and indeed points to the person that can use more than one finger at a time on a keyboard, however the other as yet unknown variables are as yet to be disclosed.I shall wait with baited breath to see the outcome. so does this get points Simon
