  1. Dan I was relying on you to confirm the weather for me!!!!!!!! Eddie
  2. Can I come and play, and will anybody be there really early to get a flight in whilst it is still nice and smooth (and cold)? Eddie

Gordon Do you work for Renault, if not, I think they would give you a job! LOL Eddie
  4. Sorry if I am talking rubbish Rob but looking at the video you appear to still have the speed trimmers in. Is this correct and, if so, would it not be easier to use the brake (control) lines to steer? I am a bit of a newbie so just curious. Regards Eddie
  5. What about the Bank holiday Monday Simon, will you be there then as well? Eddie
  6. And skydiving canopies are easier to do spot landings with!!!!!!!
  7. Hi Ben I guess your 'Ed?' is aimed at me. Phil is correct when he states that a Skydiving canopy is built completely different to a Paragliding wing (especially the Reflex type) It has a slider to slow opening, more lines (and stronger) and a pilot chute to pull the parachute from the rig. It is a device that is much more radical, and more fun than a parawing but it is designed solely to stop you from hitting the ground too hard! When I was skydiving it was all about the freefall and the parachute was opened as low as possible (and safely) so we could spiral down and get on the next lift quickly. The 2 sports are very different and I am not sure why you would want a paragliding wing that could be deployed from freefall, I don't feel the need to mix the sports as, for me, they are totally different. Hope that helps. Are you coming over from the dark side yet? Eddie
  8. I will be there so you can start marking out a great big spot for me LOL! Eddie
  9. Count me in. The sooner the better. Eddie
  10. I don't mind spot landings Pete I just need a bigger spot! Those props should be here by now, good job I don't need them! Eddie
  11. After I have seen the mighty Chelsea beat Arsenal on Saturday I will be down on Sunday. It would be great to see you Pete and use your help and guidance. Frazer, if you come down you are welcome to have a fly with my motor (on a bendit/mendit basis, of course) Anybody else for Sunday to make Petes trip worthwhile? Eddie
  12. Frazer I will be there (but at the Chelsea end) which is why I can only do Sunday! Eddie
  13. Sorry to hear that Simon, hope you get plenty of brownie points! I will be there on Sunday as it is the only day I have (weather permitting), anybody else coming along? Eddie
  14. Not sure we can use Bens design now that he has gone to the 'dark side'! LOL Eddie
  15. Thought I was going to need the new props after that last landing! Eddie
  16. Thanks for not mentioning my 'spot' landing. When you state that I have to do 10 spot landings do they have to be consecutive or can I do them over a couple of years? LOL Eddie
  17. I will be there in the morning, it will be good to see you Eddie (and SW, of course). Eddie1
  18. Thought Ken might have some more info on what happened but it seems that no one is sure! We were out on the last night in France having a meal and Togsie got up and said he needed some fresh air and was'nt feeling well (it was very early in the meal and he had'nt been drinking). As he reached the door he passed out/fainted (not sure exactly) but as he fell he hit his head on the very hard tiled floor which was why the precaution was taken to get an ambulance. Whitters sorted out Ken and Simon (along with their steaks) and after some checks at the hospital Ken was released okay. I am sure if I have missed anything he will jump in and straighten me up! It is great to hear that he is okay and I look forward to doing some flying with him at Lambourn very soon Cheers Eddie
  19. Bit difficult at work at moment but I am looking to go down Thursday or Friday a.m. Have to sort out getting my kit from SW. Good luck if you are there tomorrow. Eddie
  20. Norman I have a hard copy of the Navigation pdf now and I will have a good read. Still think Whitters idea of flying as far as you can and then landing and calling someone to pick you up is a better system!! Eddie
  21. I had expected to keep the theme of Famous five/Star wars and Biggles running in France but it never worked out. Might be because when we were'nt in the field, listening to lectures/briefs we were 'socialising'!. It was a great week for me and the rest of the 'Fodder five' with lot's getting done. When I went I had a couple of 'edgy, flights to my name and not a lot else. I came back with a fair knowledge of Air Law, Flight aerodynamics, Paramotor checking and maintenance and, my favorite, Air Navigation, as well as my first cross country!. I have to say that it must be nerve racking to be out of site of the launch site for the first time at Lambourn but it is more so at a strange site in another country!. My thanks to SW for sorting that out and having confidence in my ability. It is unfortunate that with another half day of good weather I may have got PPG1 and another 2 of the fodder may have got into the air. I can only recommend that anyone wishing to take up this sport (is it a sport or a pastime?) get on a course and take advantage of the incredible amount of experience we have with all of our AFI's and QFI. A big thanks to Norman and SW and also to Paul H and Piers for their efforts. Cheers Eddie
  22. SW is, at the moment, sitting here in France finalising the course. He will be back in the UK for Sunday but he might want a day or 2 off to recover from a very hectic couple of months! I am sure he will be in touch later. Eddie
  23. All the information you require has been on the forum for a long time now. You must read it all again and make up your own mind. I did! I am a Paramotorist and that is as simple as it is for me, I am supporting the efforts of the PMC to make the sport safer and don.t see that the BHPA are offering me anything at all. It is up to you wether you support us or not. Eddie
  24. Leo On risk have, after negotiation, decided that the syllabus that we are running is improving the sport and have decided to offer a good insurance package for both instructors and students that are taking part in the course to improve their skills and safety in the sport. In the same way that the BHPA offer insurance to their members. At the end of the day it is up to you what you do but we are trying to improve the sport for everybody. It is still deregulated at the moment and you can do whatever training course you want or none at all, just leave those that want to improve the sport get on with it. Lets be supportive and stop being critical! Eddie
  25. Whitters That clover leaf sounds pretty hard to me, is it alright if I leave that until the Tuesday morning!!!!!!LOL Eddie 2 days to go and can't wait.
