  1. If we can get something sorted I am up for it. Not sure how to work it at a reasonable price though!. Eddie
  2. Hi Frazier I have a Suunto that I have been using but I was given one of the £24-95 'Ski Pro'watches that are sold in LIDL stores. I am very impressed and it is more than adequate for keeping an eye on your altitude which you can set at take off or ASL. Compass is good too and it tells the time! Cheers Eddie
  3. Hi Togsie, thanks for the link. I have the aviation maps and can read what the symbols mean by looking at the bottom of the map. However, there was a detailed explanation put on the forum of what all the symbols and abbreviations mean. That is what I am looking for if any one can help. Cheers Eddie

    Helmets

Looks good Dave but I prefer a full face helmet in case of a 'face plant' on take off (nothing like being optimistic!) Eddie
  5. I think you will find that Simon is away with the Skycar project until March 1st! Eddie
  6. Frazier Hopefully we will get a lot of experience next year and I will sell you my revo 30 when I get my fusion! LOL Good luck on your Genie See you soon Eddie
  7. Hi Frazier I fly a Revo 30 and think it is a great wing. Is there a reason that you went for the Genie instead of the Revo? It seems a bit odd that everybody advised you that the Revo 28 was the perfect wing and you bought something else. Eddie
  8. Thanks for the link Dan and thanks to Norman but it was a bit more basic than that! It was more like a detailed explanation of the symbols on the bottom of the aviation map to assist in reading it. Cheers Eddie
  9. A couple of months ago somebody put on one of the threads a pdf of how to read the Airmap which I duly printed and now cannot find! Can someone please link it for me or send again. Regards Eddie
  10. I found that when I was using my Motorbike for commuting in the Winter it was noticable that if I put my gloves on when I started out (and my hands were warm) I could do a 80mile commute and not get cold hands at all. However, If I stopped at the services for a break and took my gloves off my hands would be freezing cold for the rest of the journey which bears out what Simon is saying. I am not against heated gloves and if they work then I would get some myself but they just seem a lot of trouble and something else to complicate things! Cheers Eddie
  11. Weather permitting I will join you both so that you don't get lonely! Cheers Eddie
  12. What a great response to, what I thought, would be an easy question! Loads of great ideas and I am sure that between us we will find a cheap option for a ,reserve, light or better. Meanwhile I would like to wish everybody (except the scum that stole Pete's equipment) a great Christmas and a Blue sky new year. Cheers Eddie
  13. A lot of good ideas on this subject (particularly Simons idea of stocking up on fuel tanks!). Ben/Woody If I were to be prepared to fit a float switch (or switches) in my tank can you advise what I would need for the LED part, ie battery, LED, resistors, wiring diagram etc. maplins numbers would be great. Cheers Eddie
  14. Gordon I think you will find the primary reason for putting TTS into a 2 stroke engine is for lubrication! However, I am worried that the fuel in my tank is'nt very red and may need some more TTS in it. I don't think you should be flying after 3 hours in the pub either! LOL Thanks everyone for all the tips, I will be sorting it out over the next couple of weeks and let you know how I get on. I still think that the more indication that you have of any problem the better, just try not to rely on the leds but I will feel better having the indication that will give me a bit of time to sort out the landing. Eddie
  15. We seem to have gone off subject slightly! The thread was to build a fuel level indicator as cheaply as possible. I appreciate Gordons concerns that we should all be aware of what we are doing in the air and that we should be more alert to our fuel consumption. However, I need glasses to read but not to see any distance so to check my fuel I would have to get out my glasses, and try to look into a small piece of mirror at a clear fluid in a opaque plastic container and work out which 'litre' mark it was at! The alternative is to have a LED indication as to the 'spend rate' as I fly. I see no problem with this and at the moment, I am thinking of using 3 float or optic switches set at possibly 6, 4 and 2 litres (not decided yet) with a LED indicator for each one. The float switches would probably need a voltage stabiliser to stop the LEDs going on and off as I fly through any turbulance. Ben, can you let me have the RS part numbers for what you have found please. Cheers Eddie
  16. Ben Looking good now, as I am an Electrical Wholesaler I can probably get the sensors cheaper. What are the ones that you are pricing? Eddie
  17. Ben Mentioned the multiple sensor idea before but at £13 a time without the LEDs we are getting near the price of the micro fuel gauge already made up! Eddie

My vote goes for the top one too, but with a pilot in the Paramotor and not a Kangaroo! Eddie
  19. Some great ideas. I love the Micro fuel gauge Mike. We need to put our ideas together and find a cheap way of doing this. I can put a float switch in that will tell me when I am at a specific point in the fuel cycle very cheaply (as per Phil) but we need to monitor all the time. The option is to put 3 or 4 in connected to seperate LEDs or optic switches but that is also expensive. I can get a row of LEDs from Maplins to use but the variable tank sender units are too expensive. The electrode idea sounds good if we can get more info (Ben). This is the best think tank for Paramotoring so lets have any more ideas and I am sure we will sort it. Cheers Eddie
  20. Not sure if this has been asked on another occasion but does anybody have an idea on how to buy/make a fuel gauge for a Paramotor? Using a mirror is 'quaint' but I would like a better system if possible! Regards Eddie
  21. Hi Frazier He is very good! The flags are deceptive and there is'nt as much wind as it seems but there is not a lot of room for error on a canopy that small. Good fun if you get it right though! Cheers Eddie
  22. Not too far anyway! What can I do to help? Eddie
  23. Bad luck Ben, would have been good to hear that you had got off the ground and had a good flight today. How did you get 3 bent carbon props? Give me a call if you are going down again before Christmas and we can meet up down there. Eddie
  24. Well done Dave, bet you are glad to get off the ground at last. Never occured to me that it would be flyable today! Just need to get Ben up now and the 'three Amigos' will be sorted! Eddie
  25. Hang on to mine please Simon and I will arrange to pick it up. Cheers Eddie
