  1. Dont know..........sounds interesting dodging the buckshot?!........curious to know to what height the pellets reach? Re the fly in, 24th June sounds good to me. Neizy.............looks like you have your hands full organising the flyin..................but in the end it will be worth it!! Well done mate for the effort. Ian, hope to see you at the fly-in, will be good to catch up? Mike
  2. Dont you just hate it when someones enjoying their selves and you are stuck at work!!!........................well done that man..................looks so, so inviting Alan!! Yet to have my first flight of the year yet!!!!!!!! Mike
  3. I want to fly further than Whitters !!!!! Comfort I have, and over two hours on some days just isnt enough. I want to be able to do round trips if needed?! Polished aluminium would look real cool.....................will have to get some quotes. Mike
  4. Is there, or has anyone managed to 'bastard fit' a larger fuel tank to a PAP125? It currently has a 13litre tank and I would love to have a circa 20 litre size. I do remember seeing Whitters with a larger tank........a marine fuel tank of sorts fitted - I think. My reasoning for this is that I want to go further and beyond. I want to further my cross country jaunts. I am trying to source something but they are either too large or too small. I am also considering having a custom aluminium tank made but wonder if this might end up being too heavy as oppossed to plastic. I could have a handle made and have it detachable for ease of filling etc etc. The fuel gauge side I have sorted. Thoughts.....good or bad! Mike
  5. Hi Alan, Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, want to be able to chit chat.....but you're right an intercom seems the easiest option. My radios do have the facility where you can send and receive on different channels. I understand your point..............you would still have to press the button. Many Thanks. Mike
  6. I have two Alinco DJ195's. My question is, can i talk to the other radio set 'hands free' so to speak ? Taking off and flying with both hands occupied and then having to reach down or across to press a button to talk or answer just complicates things? How do tandem flyers instructors accomplish this? Do the the hand sets need to be set in a particular way? Just havent found anything in the manual to address this? Any comments/information would be appreciated. Mike
  7. well it would be rude not to visit the 'Essex' boys and you are on my door step.......so yep..............looking forward to it. Mike
  8. HAve to admit it certainly has a lot of info.....................now saved as one of my favourites on the PC. Mike
  9. Yep I'm in...................would be great..................lots of catching up to do. Mike
  10. Yes you would...........I used to with my wing and then just start the engine when needed. Mike
  11. Have to admit the camp site does look nice.............they even allow camp fires? Mike
  12. Yep noticed that XC has tweeked its site for some time now. Whilst out in the field I felt the 'gust' estimations were a bit OTT. Never the less, I always use their site for weather forcast in my area as their site appears the most accurate. I always compare with Metcheck..............................but XC Weather always appear pretty much spot on! Mike
  13. Sounding good!!! As an aside, my son would like to come and watch Dad fly. .I am also sure there must be others!Question .........does anybody fly tandem?.......................would love to have him get a taster of what its like up there!!! Looking forward to the first fly-in of the year. Mike
  14. Hi Mark, Site rings a bell....................its where I started my training............caravan park. In fact Any got me into the sky - good and proper!!! You probably saw Ian and Andy flying or Andy and one of his pupils. I will post you a message with his details. Mike
  15. Ok I have a Northern phrase book now and am learning the lingo!! Can someone let me know if you need a passport once you pass the Watford Gap? Actually flying in Wales would be interesting................................as they say...............whatever!!!!! Mike
  16. http://211.154.131.249:9090/uploads/642 ... 622e68.jpg Get one of these £3.99 inc postage. I fitted it to my frame and dont have to fiddle with mirrors and lanyards(which I have in the past). A simple case of glancing over whilst in flight. Get them on ebay they are flexible mountain bike mirrors. Mike
  17. You lucky sods.....weather is good. I unfortunately broke down enroute with trailer (M25) and had to wait to be repatriated. I obviously was not high priority enough by the recovery people.....took them 4 hours to get me back!!!!!!! Couldnt scrounge a suitable car from anyone so had to abort. I cant even go for a fly tonight!!! Have a good fly and an equally good drink chaps!!! Mike ps oh bugger will be missing that celebrity chef in action (Pete Baldwin) Tee hee!
  18. I'm with you Simon.....if poo weather then its a case of booze and putting the world to rights. Hmmmmmm, think I might bring a box trailer to sleep in rather than a tent?! Mike
  19. My condolences to Jackie and family. I met Mike and Jackie at the last fly-in, both eminent in making a newbie welcome!!!..............................a true ambassador to the sport. He will be missed! Mike
