  1. I fly a PAP which has their standard swing arm set up - low hang point. I am 104kg of Kentish swagger!! I did a 'hang test' to set up the correct carabiner placing according to the manual which at the moment is exactly mid way. Perhaps I need to move one setting forward (i.e. me moving away from the risers?)..........I then would hang back..........but my thrust line wouldn't be correct - me thinks? Mike
  2. Query?..............................well more of a concern!!! I flew for the first time on Tuesday since my last flight, the beginning of October of last year!!!! So, I had quite a few cobwebs to get rid of in the process - it all went like clockwork and the landing for me was text book stuff......a first for me! Getting to the point............... When I fly and let the trimmers out, alls well, but when I pull the trimmers in to get into slow mode to plod about I noticed that the slack in both the straps (for the trimmers) were almost touching my cage if not at one point just poking through almost 'teasing' the prop!!!!!!!!!! - NOT GOOD!. At that point I remembered this last year and I would wrap the slack around the risers. Is this right? Perhaps I am missing something (adjustment somewhere?) I cant seem to find anything addressing this in the manual? At last summers fly-in I intended to ask Simon for advice, but as usual forgot! Mike
  3. Neil, Dont worry mate I havent flown since beginning of October, havent even had a chance to ground handle, just waiting for this shite weather to turn and then cleaning the cobwebs off it and me. It might go tits up for me as well............ Think positive!!!!!!!!!!! Mike
  4. Must be referring to Farnborough Berkshire and not Farnborough, Bromley? Mike
  5. Dan, Just read the Paramotor Magazine.........................'Reindeer Man'............awesome experience mate!!!! Mike
  6. Alright for some!!!!!!! Last I flew was second week in October......................lack of time and other commitments (family) is my enemy at the moment!!! I know my time will come...................................patience!!!!! Mike
  7. Henry, Glad its all going well for you. Welll I got the PAP Ros 125 which has stacks of power and is well made! Never had a problem with it - to date but then i haven't notched up that many hours. I am 6'3" and 105kg..................no problems with getting you off the ground. The F200 as I undertsnad it is PAPs tandem offering and for someone starting out possibly too potent? I think whats more important is getting your wing correctly suited? I have a Revolution 28 and feel that a Revolution 30 would get me off the ground quicker and I would definately have slower landings. Saying all that the Revo 28 has been marvelous and I enjoy its capabilities all of which yet have to explored to their fullest. No doubt others will prefer their own machines but PAP have a good reputation. My pennies worth. Mike
  8. Steady on !!! This fat bastard has a large (6'4" and 105 Kg).....got to admit its a bit loose but ever so easy to get into! I have to admit its loose when I'm running and taking off, no snagging or problems in or out of the harness..............in fact I prefer it. Long live fat bastards!!!! Mike ps my son confirms!!!!

Hi Fred, I fly from Swanley/Brandshatch area (M25.J3). There is In from Maidstone way and I bet a few others?! Mike
  10. Yeah and? whats the problem with that? Thats how my instructor taught me? Mike
  11. Looks and sounds purfik!!! Was it cold Alan? Just that I think about flying but then brrr feels just cold on the ground and I dread to think what its like up there? With all this doom and gloom I need to get my fix as well!! Mike
  12. I have a spare prop that I have repaired and balanced following a 'crap' landing !!! My question is.............. How does one store the propeller? Vertical or horizontal? I have it wrapped in bubble wrap (what the replacement prop came in) and it is currently stored horizontally on a shelf in the garage. Worried about warping, if any? Mike
  13. Danny, Welcome!! I have posted you a message. I am just up the road in Swanley and Ian is just done the road in Maidstone. And the others......well there are others out there.........somewhere. Mike
  14. Ginge, Welcome. Have you tried to leave a message on the 'Scottish Borders' section of the club? Who knows they might have a notifiable link to an email and get in touch that way? I am sure someone will be in touch sooner or later. Mike
  15. Wish I could just fly in dry weather but my flying windows tend to be limited so I want to be able to fly as often as possible, hence morning flights as well. Mike
  16. Marital bed eh............? Hmmm better not!! Thanks for the tips guys. Mike
  17. Alan, Thanks for pointing me in the right direction......missed that one!!! Hmmmm, hanging a damp wing in doors with four kids running around?...........recipy for disaster? Mike
  18. All, I tend to prefer to fly in the mornings. Evening flights are predominantly difficult because I have four kids to entertain and cart from pillar to post after school. The days that my wife deals with the kids are the days that are crap for a flight!! Always the way! The mornings of late have been very wet with the grass sodden(dew). My questions/queries are.......... If I lay my wing out ready for a flight, it will obviously be wet. Once in the air it will dry out but when landing again after an hour or so the wing will again be wet. Can i pack it up without drying? What would be the implications of just packing up? Rotten wing? Ideally I would want the grass dry when I land - not always possible. Take it home and dry it out? - ideal space is not available. Wait for a dry day then dry it out? Will this be too late? Its just that its very frustrating, I get to fly possibly once every three weeks!!!! I want to open my flying window. I was reading Dans piece under another thread about greater possible flying windows during winter. Blow drying the grass with your motor before laying the wing out I suppose is an option? But will you land in excatly the same spot - in my case - NO!!!! I am sure this is encountered and dealt with? I bet everybody will reply that they leave their wing spread out in the living room? Any sueful helpful hints appreciated. Mike
  19. 'Rock-on Tommy'..............I know the feeling well when you have to do it yourself. I find the thing is to prepare and set up slowly and surely, preferably with nobody else around hurrying you along. Check and double check!! Without hanging onto your instructors apron strings it is a bit unnerving!!! See my flight in the Kent section under 'Interesting Flight' I now havent flown for three weeks and am still nervous getting ready for the flight.....everything from loading up from home to getting to the field. But it always, always falls into place..........hence the importance of good training. They tell me it gets easier and easier? Mike
  20. Yes, definately a clever chappy!!! Lift did seem to be a problem? Mike
  21. Is there a paramotor show this year? Went to the one in Birmingham.......thought there might be another? Mike
  22. I have a PAP with the Ros 125. I get regular staining of the prop from oil deposits eminating from the exhaust.....................but nothing as bad as that? The fouling oil is simply wiped off with WD40. The engine has 12 hours and I mix the fuel as per PAPs recomendation. Yours does seem wildly excessive.......fuel oil mixed correctly? Mike
  23. Simon, I cant wait for the trip but I am just a bit concerned re how far one is expected to fly per fuel tank? I am currently managing one and a half hours per tank. I am just worried about holding people back? There will no doubt be more experienced pilots who will be shooting off but some stragglers (me) will be left behind? Just concerns from this inexperienced pilot. Mike
