    Might be a bit heavy for foot launched (18kg, plus rad + chassis + Fuel!) but looks like an ideal motor for trikes and SSDR I wonder if Polini will start looking at the other end of the market and make an even lighter (but powerful) compact unit for the PG crowd?

    Ok - less of the hype and internet plugging 25kg auw with the Polini 100 28kg auw with the Polini 200! and 80kg of static thrust (not 95!) My all stainless steel welded PM is 26kg auw with a Polini 100, so maybe a bit less hype and a little more action

    Good luck m8, but with Alex you're in very good/safe hands I normally fly out of Rayne (SabreAce) but we're all on tenderhooks this weekend watching the weather as we might be taking the trip oop north for the cheshire fly-in. At the moment the weather looks better up there than it does darn sarf Rich

    I was thinking the same thing... They must've invested 100k+ in tooling alone... What it needs is someone to setup importing the cheap, light parts from the US (or direct from the Far Eastern injection mould facility and pay them a percentage) and marry them to a european made motor (Vittorazi, Polini etc) There's no point buying a motor from the US that has just been imported there from Italy! Assemble the parts in a nice double garage (to keep overheads down) and advertise on the internet, maybe sponsor a talented pilot to get a ranking at the NATS.... Job done

    You and I can buy a Polini Thor 200 for 2.4k, so you can assume Parajet are paying Polini approx 1.8 - 2k for them. So 3.5k for Cage, Chassis, Arms, Harness, Prop and Tank (including dealers profit margin). I'd hate to see the price of spare parts if you bend it! TBH. I was suprised when Bailey announced the price of the V5 last year, but people seem to like them (and be buying them) I hope other manufacturers take note and start to produce well designed, reliable, lightweight paramotors at a good pricepoint, as they'd make a killing...

    Hi Gordon Which option did you go for? I have exactly the same dillema as you.. Choice of both types of carb at no extra cost. Diaphragm - Easy to use, proven and can be mounted/ transported in any position Float bowl - Pros- Better fuel economy and smoother mid range. Negs - Still requires a pump? Needs draining before transport. Icing (?) Rich

    It seems a very good radio for the money. I've only used it the once in anger and heard and transmitted everything. The manual is crap and the menu structure a bit confusing at first (what is it with radio's and scanners and their impossible to follow menu structures??) I like the idea of the built in FM radio... good for when bimbling around then cuts out if you need to transmit. I also made up my replacement loom using the cable and connector from CPC this weekend and alls good

    It could also be how your wing behaves with different speedbar and trim settings. My Reaction 29 does bugger all on the trims, but then goes all out on speedbar. I've heard that more recently produced wings (but don't quote me) are biased more towards the trims and less on the speedbar to reduce cruising effort. Which makes sense

    I've seen these filtering down into the manufacturers options now (PXP have got them as an option for £700 more than the Polini 110) It has the extra complexity of a balance shaft, but I guess it will be just ticking over to maintain straight and level Nice to have the power on tap as well I thought it was gonna be a straight decision between the Polini 110 and the Moster in my quest for a new Paramotor this year.... but this complicates things a bit (i'm still leaning towards a 110 though!)

    Check any plastic ball you find to make sure it's safe to be immersed in petrol first. You don't want a dissolved lump of fondue like gunge blocking up your carb!

    The GA crowd rave about SkyDemon, which has just been imported to ipad (something the developer said he'd never do...) You can get a taste for it with SkyDemon lite http://www.skydemonlight.com/ Great for planning as its realtime NOTAM Not sure about having an ipad round my neck tho

    To be fair it does say ''or so'' and an extra £2500 wouldn't go amiss if you are buying new. A lot of people elect to go brand new for the wing £2-2500 and second hand for the motor. That option should easily get you going for around 5K Some schools insist on you using all your own gear and some supply it for all of the ground handling. Schools can also charge by the hour (£25-£35ph) and you could choose to go down that route instead of paying in one lump sum. Whatever you do, don't rush into it. Take lots of advice, but dont listen to any one person. (and go to a fly in!) Rich
