  1. If you deleted them using the Mac by 'moving to trash' then they are still there until you empty the trash.
  2. I was using the Garmin 60CSx whose interface I dislike and then moved over to the Satmap which is excellent (although feels a tiny bit laggy), but recently have been using an iPhone 4 and Motion X which is superb and surprisingly accurate when plotted to known landmarks on a map afterwards. The next thing I want to do is experiment with my iPad2 using MotionX as the amount of easily visible info on a large screen would be luxurious, along with any other potentially useful apps. A back-up GPS would be good too.
  3. I agree, I've been there twice for work and it makes British bureaucracy look like kid's play.
  4. Did the instructor say Yeehaar a lot and try to sell you a K2? I did my first paramotor flights on the reflex wing which I still fly, after a few introductory flights on a regular paragliding wing (no motor) and then straight onto the reflex (on slow trim to start with).
  5. If you want to enjoy the experience a bit more think about a desktop for editing. If you want to get the best performance from a laptop use an SSD instead of a hard drive.
  6. You wouldn't be my old headmaster by any chance?
  7. Cheers for the replies. I'd been blindly following Paramania's owner's manual about take-off and landing settings until recently.
  8. Does it make a difference whether your arm is high or low? When mine was new I had a problem with the throttle where if you moved your arm down whilst holding the throttle, the engine increased revs quite dramatically, if you raised it they dropped - it made some flying (especially low turns) quite difficult. I adjusted the throttle cable as much as could be adjusted but the effect was still there slightly. I took it to the factory and they couldn't get rid of the last bit either (although it is usable now).
  9. Not sure whether this is a common practise but I have been taking off and landing my Revo 2 on just under neutral trim for the past couple of flights. The first time was in zero wind on the flat, it took a hard long run but take off was more than manageable. Landings are a bit faster but not a problem. Yesterday's launch was on a short 20 degree slope into 3-4mph wind and I was off the ground within 10 feet. Apologies if this is common knowledge, I haven't read anything about it myself.

    GIN Winter gloves.

Got to try mine yesterday for the first time. To be honest, when they arrived and I tried them on I thought they were a bit thin and lightweight plus there were lots of lumps and bumps on the inside each finger which I thought might get annoying whilst flying. Also, the finger length was perfect until making a fist whereupon the finger tips each had a a lot of space between my finger tips and the end of the glove finger. However, once kitted up about to fly I was happy. All the lines were easy to use, the gloves were warm as toast without any of the 'lumpy' finger internals being noticeable. In flight they were great (in fact I had my first engine failure and emergency landing at 2000+ feet during the flight and the gloves didn't hinder anything, in fact they helped because it was the first time I didn't have to focus on moving my frozen digits in agony). So far I would definitely agree with everyone else's sentiments and recommend the gloves.
  11. It was in Paramotor mag, also linked from Fresh Breeze UK http://www.underwaterimages.co.uk/fresh ... ERO-EE.pdf Thanks Alan.
  12. I came across a commercial product last year which was a wrist warmer (not specifically for flying) and was marketed as warming the blood entering the hands, obviously just marketing bullshit then.
  13. I think just parking your hands in your lap will help as I imagine blood flow is much reduced if you keep your hands on the brakes for a long time. I'm going to try to tape a hand warmer on each wrist on the next very cold flyable day to see if heating the blood as it passes on its way to the hands makes any difference. Can you post a link to Dean and Dan's page?
  14. Not done loads, just some ridge soaring. Just put it on slow trim and it's really nice to fly.
  15. Had a look and there are some odd things. I especially thought posting videos of ground handling and ground running the paramotor whilst not wearing a helmet were a bit misguided.
  16. It says 3 days until you take your first solo flight but that shouldn't be the end of training by any means, going solo still means you have your instructor on the end of a radio for a long while yet. You should not put a time limit on your training as everyone is different and as for the weather .... It's generally about £900-1000 to get to full Pilot with BHPA. Parajet have an offer on at the moment with a paramotor, wing and training package.
  17. Wouldn't fancy running with a spinning prop in front of my face. Like you say, what could go wrong?
  18. I looked into it a while ago but found some references to by-lays about using the downs, I could just imagine some official with a clip board standing there whilst coming in to land.
  19. Had the same here for ages, it's working today ironically.
  20. Also, if you can use solid state storage for each project instead of an HD that makes a mountain of difference to performance. Then just copy it all onto a standard HD for archiving when you've finished.
  21. Standard design etiquette for years has been for external links to open in a new window and most sites do that. With the advent of tabs it's probably easier to set a local preference.
  22. I've always fancied launching from Clifton Downs by the Sea Wall and flying above the gorge and out towards Pill. Can't imagine that would go down too well.
