  1. It's amazing that my kids can use the Magic Mouse, and my misses, all on iMacs and loving it but I can't 'cos I'm on Mac Pros. I'm not bitter and twisted and feeling left out of course.
  2. On a Mac Pro? You've got more patience than me by a long shot
  3. Ah, the Magic Mouse. Unfortunately it is absolute rubbish on Mac Pros, one place where Apple really screwed up.
  4. Do you mean the Magic Mouse Simon or the single click mouse? SIngle click mice need an option key pressed or using menus which is way too long-winded. Been using Macs professionally for 18 years and never liked the single button option (even though there was no choice in the early days). If you can stretch to an A4 or bigger Wacom tablet then there's no looking back.
  5. Buy a third party mouse and you'll have right-click. Final Cut Pro is okay, the newer version is very different to all previous versions but evolving well since it was launched. For most people iMovie is all they need and is very very cheap (buy it from the app store for about a tenner).
  6. I had a weird one with wind tonight, flying downwind towards landing area I was going at 36mph, I looked up and the low cloud above me was travelling 90 degrees perpendicularly to my right, I looked down and my windsock 200 feet below me was 180 degrees opposite to my direction of travel. As I came in to land at 20 feet the wind vanished completely and the windsock dropped to hanging.
  7. That's really interesting that Kester and Deano use it. I assume this means the 98 RON over 95 RON.

    Cheapo Tach.

Mine is thoroughly taped to the HT lead. After it was taped on I trimmed off the excess (of which there is loads!). These are designed for snowmobiles, motorbikes, etc. so they are plenty generous with it.

    need a prop

    The website is hard work.

    Cheapo Tach.

Hi Adam, There's no off button, just leave it. I'm still impressed with mine (especially for the money).

    Cheapo Tach.

*gulp* ... just nipping down to check mine is still working.

    Cheapo Tach.

It isn't waterproof but, like you say, it's an easy fix (not done it myself yet).

    Cheapo Tach.

I bought an alternative to the mainstream tachs like the Tiny Tach from ebay last September. It's been on the paramotor for a while and seems fine. The hours recorded are accurate and it only cost £11 including shipping. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI. ... SA:GB:1123

    Flying suit

That'll be for fly fishing then ...
  15. Lots of reminders to get some fags in it. I'd forgotten how heavily smoking was advertised back then.

    Flying suit

I can recommend the suit I use, an Ozee Millennium http://www.ozee.co.uk/shop#ecwid:catego ... ct=1727111 It's mostly sold to microlight pilots but it has been excellent for paramotoring. It is waterproof (so never an issue setting up in a wet field), windproof, incredibly warm and tough but very easy to move about in. It has a large clear pocket on the leg, loads of other pockets all over. easy access zips for legs, etc. It's also very tough. Mine was made to measure for no extra charge (you can choose your colour, I had all black). The pics on their website look a bit naff bit they are very good suits. I went up today with just a light fleece on underneath, it was minus 3 on the ground and I was as warm as toast in it for about an hour.

    Fuel Monitor.

Looking forward to your post. How much was it (I can't sift through the UKPPG website very easily)?

    Fuel Monitor.

Came across this on YouTube, a fuel monitor using a modified bike computer. Excellent idea.
  20. My usual spot for launching is right under the RAF's favourite low flying training route over the Brecon Beacons. If you like aircraft you get some spectacular views when they are doing their stuff (I especially love Chinooks coming over low on a turn). It changes from awe to concern when launching mid-week though, but more than once I have noticed that bang on time of the notification given to RAF Wittering the RAF traffic has given me a wide berth. I could hear gunshot and explosions a couple of months ago when Sennybridge was having a mock battle and the helicopters and fast jets all noticeably avoided my grid reference. Having spoken with other pilots when flying elsewhere it seems that not many make the call to the Low Flying Booking Cell, even though their area is potentially used for low flying training. I found this pdf which has some useful info in it and a couple of really good pics: http://www.mod.uk/nr/rdonlyres/8fbe2382 ... ng2011.pdf
  21. Hi Chris, See a recent thread on the same subject: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7227
  22. The wing wrapped around the power lines and the motor ablaze on the floor is a bit of a give away.
  23. He caught me out when I was doing my research before I'd learned to fly as it seemed the world should only buy a Flat Top and a K2. The trouble is that he turns up in nearly every Google and YouTube search without fail. I do love his videos sometimes but he talks bollocks a lot of time and his safety standards are dire.
