  1. I have used the GoPro handlebar mount which is okay and stays put - I put some thick neoprene around the frame with Gaffer Tape to give it some insulation but it still produces some 'interesting' effects. There's an example here (you can see the mounted camera in the reflection on my helmet at the start):
  2. I produced the Zenith manual and had the joy of spending quite some time there in the process. The forward thinking, attention to detail, quality control and just about everything else I witnessed was outstanding. But beyond all of that is the fact that if you have a problem they are there for you and sort it out. For example, I had a reduction belt pulley failure last January and when I got home I mentioned it on my Facebook page. Within ten minutes I had a message from the Jim the MD asking what was needed and a complete set of replacement parts, including bolts, arrived free of charge by the next post. There's no messing about, they take customer support very seriously which works for us and for them. You need to remember that this isn't a Ford Focus with a local garage able to fix issues, it's specialised and you need the support of the manufacturer if anything goes wrong. For balance I should mention that other UK manufacturer's also offer good customer support (it's just that I have experienced Parajet's).
  3. A Parajet Custom frame would be a good bet, nice geometry, beautifully made and strong enough for minor bumps. The version with netting is best. The customer support is outstanding. The Polini engine is a nice match.
  4. Congratulations Deano! http://www.parajet.com/team/blog-entry/world_fly_games_champion_yes_please/
  5. Sorry to get back to the original post but the poor sod had another incident: http://www.salemnews.com/local/x2076995957/Paraglider-rescued-from-island-after-his-equipment-breaks
  6. I'm rejetting my Polini PWK as it's way too rich. Whilst at it I'm looking at the fuel pump because during my post-flight checks I have noticed a slight weeping of fuel from it. Not a massive amount but run your finger over it and there is enough to sheen your finger - it's not from the fuel line connections. I can't find any reference to this on the web, just wondered if other Thor owners had seen this on theirs.
  7. Just to remind you of your post from five days ago ...
  8. http://www.salemnews.com/local/x2076994590/9-11-anniversary-paragliding-turn-out-to-be-a-bad-mix
  9. I don't think it's lack of desire, if you talk to them it's more a case of they are just so busy - the Zenith and Custom are massive hits.
  10. Hello Scotty and welcome. Good idea coming here before making moves towards getting your flying machine.
  11. Don't stick your hands on that side of the cage when the engine is running.
  12. I do that on my prop bolts, my daughter's nail varnish is glittery magenta which looks very pretty.
  13. When you think you've done enough ground handling, do more, and more.
  14. In a thread a few weeks ago someone mentioned they liked the look of this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200801950637&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:3160 So did I so I bought one and used it tonight for the first time. It's brilliant, it's now living on my harness permanently. Really cheap ($12 plus $5 shipping), got here really quickly and works really well.
  15. I hang the first one I got from them in my van, thinking it must surely be better than petrol fumes and oily rags. I was wrong.
  16. Another for Opie Oils (plus they usually send you a free car air freshener that must rate as the worst smelling air freshener in the world).
  17. I was never a student of Simon's but he nevertheless helped me out on more than one occasion and I have nothing but respect for him. My BHPA instructor used to leave me alone sometimes, it was usually to practice and practice things like ground handling, which is to be expected. He did appear to fall asleep in the sun on one occasion (it was a lovely day on the hills ).
  18. I dream of ruts, tuffs and rabbit holes. Lucky to get something flat or without a 300' drop or a cave entrance here.
  19. Lovely! I fly around the Brecon Beacons (lonely, no other bugger flies a paramotor here) and I head towards Hay some days. I'll give you a wave if we pass Off out now in fact!
  20. I'd say Parajet, especially 'cos of their customer support which I've experienced on more than on occasion. However, I hear nothing but good comments about Bailey and Bulldog too. Careful what you believe when you see videos and reports about Flat Top from American superheroes.
